    This has been posted before

    so

1 - not the cheapest deal - EVER
2- Please check that these have not already been posted - a simple search is all thats needed

    See
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/8688

    • as you can see the deal that was posted for god sake 225 DAYS AGO and is now EXPIRED. This is just more of a refreshment.

  • +2

yeah its a dupe so tempted to go -1, but at the same time this is a pretty good deal and a refresher as that last deal is so old… so won't neg.

    • -1

i wouldnt consider this is dupe. I'd call it an awareness that the deal still exists

employees of large corporates can get Office 2007 for $28 under a corporate licence 'use on home PC' deal. So not "cheapest ever".

    • DAMN YOU… where where you when i bought this for my partner who was a uni student?!

what if you move on? do you get to keep the 2007 or do you have to remove it from your PC?

      • you are obligated to remove it if you leave the organisation.

        • Then this deal is good. You can keep the software for ever.

        • Plus it's not Office Ultimate, so doesn't have quite as much.

    • more info on this please.

      • ask around people who work for large corporates.

        • Even employees of same bank/s can get this via the MS Partner Program, but you'd need to ask around to find out "Which Bank"!!!
Edit - That would be the CBA,, + HP/EDS + many others.

    • Not to mention "It's not cheating" also gives you a 2 machine license, not sure what the one you're talking about would offer.

  • This is actually a good deal considering under the corporate licence you do have to give it upwhen you leave the corp. This is for you too keep, upgrade or do whatever. This offer as mentioned above is for students and i dont now quite a lot of students who work in big corps.

  • As an engineer[ing student], I noticed a lack of Visio and Project. Also, these criticisms. I think I will continue using Office 2003 for the time being.

    • Visio & Project as you are aware are separate from the Microsoft Office family like many other productivity applications. My Uni gave me Visio for free and I'm sure I'd have no problem getting Project either. If your Uni is part of the MSDN:AA then you might be eligible for a whole host of free software - all you have to do is ask. Also, check out www.dreamspark.com for some other free MS software (nothing you've mentioned) for Uni students (free Windows 2003/2008 server, Expression Studio, etc).

      • Thanks for the heads-up, cyssero; Visual Studio and Expression Studio caught my eye.

Make sure this is the best deal for the Office applications you're going to use. The Home and Student pack with three licenses for about $125 (depending on where you purchase) may be a better deal if you don't need all the extras with Ultimate and have more than one PC.

What's wrong with Open Office for free?

    • +1

for a while it couldnt open docx files. (i still dont think it does natively without a patch)
Also, it takes a little bit of getting used. (a bit harder to justify for word processing - but still)

    • I gave it a spin not many months ago, and found it wanting. For example, Open Office's Spreadsheet application simply does not contain all the functions that I personally require, though no doubt it would suffice for pedestrian usage. I still use it for my Linux system, but I find Excel to be more functionally powerful.

Also, the winning entry to the "It's Not Piracy" competition is an obvious dig at Open Office. Hover over the banner to the right to see it.

  • MS Office 2010 is about to come next year, so I am not sure if it is still worth it to take this deal now unless you really need it.

    • +2

most office/workplace will stick with 07 for a couple years to come I'd imagine..

on a separate note: also keep in mind that most academic versions are NOT eligible for upgrades.

      • Indeed, many institutions are still using 2003. Especially Universities.

Many publishers do not accept submissions in Word 2007; for example, academic publishers have informed Microsoft that this severely impairs Word 2007's usability for scholarly publishing.

  • Just for the record you can get Vista Ultimate cheap at this site too (I think it is $85). Oh and if you have an old uni email address that works still (nudge, nudge).
