OnePlus One Approx $418 Delivered from Oppomart

31

the oneplus one has had some very favourable reviews as a "flagship killer" (http://www.engadget.com/products/oneplus/one/), the main downside being it is only available at the retail price of $299 by invite, invites are currently very hard to come by, and are being auctioned for up to $3000 each (http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/invites-for-a-cause-the-au…)

this seems the quickest way to get it at the moment, note the $2.99 postage is registered airmail, DHL is $29.99)

is this worthwhile compared eg. to nexus 5 / galaxy s5 / htc one ?

I'm waiting for the Next Big Thing. No release date announced though.

I am waiting for NBT II.

    • No sd card and it's targeted towards audiophiles… smart

The main appeal of this phone was that it was powerful yet cheap… $418 isn't really in the cheap range anymore. Would probably pick a nexus 5 over this.

    • Yes, agree with you the only attraction is it is cheap. At this price it is not cheap and it is from a no brand manufacturer trying their hand on selling a phone, you will have trouble if it is faulty.

just because you havent heard of them before doesnt make them a no brand manufacturer

LG G2 sells for $379+ Postage at Kogan.

    LG G2 D802 4G LTE (16GB, Red)..

At $400 it's kind of encroaching into branded smartphone territory and I'd rather buy from an Australian retailer.

  • Plus one on what trumpedup said! I was just expecting this to be at a 300 mark with or without an invite because those who were invited just have the privilege to use it first but after some time, when it's available to the public there will be no major upgrades or add ons whatsoever that will make the phone overpriced!

  • I thought the retail price is suppose to be US$299?

    • Seems like it was a marketing exercise.

    • It is from Oneplus. Oneplus doesn't sell the phone to business at warehouse prices, the cheapest anyone can get the phone for is US$299

  • Too expensive for me. I'll Waiting for Oneplus to official release it which is sometime this month or early next month.

does anyone have the Xiaomi Mi3? Would love to know how it is. It seems to be the cheapest best-stats phone on the market.

    • My parents went to China and bought a Mi3 for me. They're coming back on Saturday, I'll report how the phone is next week. Excited! But I was hoping to get the RedMi Note for RMB999 which didn't happen. They only release a small quantity to be purchased online every Tuesday until sold out, I got my cousin to try for the last 4 Tuesdays, gave up after that.

I did a quick run down, the link is https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148800.

  • Interesting that the site is charging US$80 more than the $299 that it is supposed to cost, and which folks with invites have been paying.
Also, that site does not seem to give the option of picking up the 64GB model. With no expandable memory, that seems a bit much, but if you get an iPhone, even a 5c, at that price, there would be a queue outside reaching to Darwin.
The Oneplus reviews I have seen are all positive so far — great screen, blazing fast, quality build — and the range of covers etc on the same site seem to be reasonably priced.
Cyanogenmod will probably update the firmware, but maybe not as quickly as Google updates its Nexus handsets.
Could be a big brand in a few years.

" invites are currently very hard to come by, and are being auctioned for up to $3000 each "

It changes things when it is for a charitable cause and can't compared to purely profit driven pricing.

any idea when this can be bought direct for $299, without it being inflated by a third party, and not having to get an 'invite'?

  • at 299 i weas willing to buy it at 400 i think ill stick with my nexus 5 which is cheaper i might add.

They claim to have stock when even invitees are still waiting:

    http://www.androidcentral.com/oneplus-one-release-delayed-op…

I'm doubtful until someone actually receives theirs. This may not be the quickest way after all.

Also, no address and no phone number for that company? Good luck!

Edit: I see now that this is the Color OS (Jelly Bean) version so may be in stock after all. Still not sure about the seller though.

This Model only works on the Chinese Network.
Still a waiting game to play!

EDIT: My facts may not be straight, but I was getting my info here: http://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/27lubm/oneplus_one_…

Also seems to ship with ColorOS instead of Cyanogenmod, so unless you flash yourself there will be no play store.

  • A little warning … might be a scam … the phone is not available yet. Sounds somehow wrong … would not order there …
Thanks to the OP for the find … it is a value phone (at that price it has some alternatives) … but not sure if that is a legit store …

"Never Settle"? More like "Never Selling"

  • At this price it is still a great deal and probably one of if not the best phone for the price
