[Wii U] Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain - Free until 10/7

1090

Earlier this morning, the Nintendo DS classic Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? was added to the Wii U eShop as a free VC title. It appears to be a limited time download as the game (and its respective Miiverse community) will no longer be available for download after July 10th.

  • Thanks. Heard Japan got it, but didn't know we did. (Would it kill Nintendo to do some advertising??)

    • Couldnt find it advertised anywhere but for a small icon on the eshop front page. Might be a tester for DS VC

wtf, DS games on Wii u???

    • Yes. Welcome to mid 2013.

All this and other SNES stuff should be free because it's so easily emulated.

    • the emulators didn't come from nothing. (nor did the games!)

For example, Super Punch Out from SNES is $10 which is ridiculous. I'd buy 10 games for $1 each or download $100 worth of ROMs (to backup my existing collection) for nothing. Business model wise I bet they'd get a higher return with more sales at a lower cost. Anything they get is near enough to pure profit.

Get someone playing an old game and they're more likely to pay high price for a new game.

        • All of these old games obviously still have value, which is why they charge for them, and why people are willing to pay for them. Go live in Russia if you want to be in a place that has to reduce the cost of games due to piracy.

Yes, I much prefer it back in the old country.

To be fair, as good as they are, $10-$15 bucks is really expensive for these, whereas I'd buy heaps if they were like, $15 for a pack of ten or even 5.

  • You da man (or woman, whichever applies) OP! Thanks :)

  • I use to play this on my ds lite, was a good game to play to get my brain motors running in the morning lol

  • Thanks, it is a shame estore prices don't compare to stores though. You can get WiiU party with a wiimote for $56 at EB but it costs $80 just for the game from eshop.

It's cause Nintendo runs the service so they aren't going to set any prices that are cheaper than store prices, as that would be a dick move to the stores and sour relationships etc.

  • Is it possible to download this or link it to my wii u nintendo account without having my wii u console with me?

    • +1

Not as far as I know. There is no online store like Sony and Microsoft have.

But this one lasts for awhile, so you shouldn't miss out.

    • it's also important to note atm, your purchase should you get a wii u, will be limited to that wii u console (correct me if i'm wrong)

  • How big is this dl? Already have Mario on our basic Wii u.

    • The Basic Wii U HDD space is abhorrently small. What was Nintendo thinking? I had to delete pretty much everything just to install my free Wind Waker HD.

      98MB.

  • I have the DVD for PC … long ago, good game.

    • DVD?

i woke up this morning and found the blue led on my gamepad blinking, free game!

this happened before with sports club, but that was a demo really and there wasn't enough space for the download on my basic with wwhd installed already.

this is a full free game, too bad i probably won't ever play it.

    • Same here. Little bright blue light flashing at 4am. The game isn't all that impressive IMO. Free though, so can't complain.

  • what a joy !

feels good to be playing a retro game !

    • +1

Can't believe this game is considered retro already lol. Feels like only yesterday I got my first pay check from my first job and used it to buy a DS Lite and this game.

  • This deal woke me up at 1am. Seriously. I awoke to my games room flashing a blue light, and it was the gamepad going all strobe on me.
