[Edit] Please be patient if the coupon does not work for you. We are sorting this out!

Hi everyone, this is my first post here.

I am posting this for my uncle, who owns an online fruit and veggie delivery services named Western Fresh N Green. As he has just started the business, he would like to offer a coupon to ozbargain. I suggested him this site as I am myself a frequent user here :)

So technically, you can use the coupon 25off for your 1st order (minimum cart value $30) per household, which is determined by:

  • The account you used to purchase and
  • The delivery address

The store normally offers free shipping Melbourne wide for minimum $30.00 purchase but with this offer, we can only offer a $5 flat rate shipping to Melbourne.

Some example good deals:

  • Family veggie box which normally costs $34.99, with this coupon it costs $9.99 + $5 shipping = $14 shipped. It includes 28 items and I personally recommend it.
  • Family box, same as the above but with different content.
  • For even better deal, my uncle threw in some special sale products that you can use on top of the coupon !!!! Happy picking!
  • Pick your own combination of Fruit and Veggie up to $30.00 or more, then use a coupon, you will have $25.00 off

A bit more about the store:

Western Fresh N Green sources food from farms within Victoria and other markets, handpicks each and every items that you selected and delivers straight to your door! You can pick your own box of fruits and veggies or buy a bundle (we call those Family Box or Couple Box) for even cheaper value.

Please support us as we are 100% Australian, let us know your experience with the website :) We hope you enjoy it. If it goes well I will encourage him putting more deal on Ozbargain in the future.

Thank you all

Well done and wish you and your uncle the best of luck.

I'll give it a crack, cheers

there is something called "1x Beans(3.75g)" in Family Box, what is it? my eyesight is not good, I am afraid I could not see it in the box.

  • +6

Hi Rep, There is an issue with the code. When I add to code to a shopping card of $30.26, it is giving a discount of -$96.76.

    • +7

I also have that issue. My discount is showing like $70 discount. I have not taken advantage of this and placed the order, as my total comes down to $0.00
      Cheers

      • +2

Thank you all for reporting, please try it again (the developer advised to delete your cart or clear your browser session first) and it should work :)

  • Invalid shipping method.
Coupon usage limit has been reached.

    • Hi, can you try it again, please? The developer advised us that it should be good now

  • Hi everyone,
Let me ask the website developer to have a look at the issue

Edit: Hi everyone, if you have an issue placing an order or if the website returns with "Invalid shipping method", please click on "Calculate shipping" and type in your postcode :). This is a temporary fix and we will look at fixing it asap.

  • Code doesn't work, it won't let me check out

    • Hi, can you try it again, please?

  • +1

    Hi Rep,
I did as you suggested above but when I applied the coupon, It removed the whole cost and wants to charge me $0, which is fine with me, lol, but obviously not correct.
The line in the invoice looks like "Coupon: 25off -$36.88"

So anyway what should I do? I want to put my order through -looks great, but I want to pay the correct discounted amount.
Got my cart sitting there ready to pull the trigger.

    • Hi King,
I am extremely sorry for the issue, we are currently having issue with the website and the developer is not available on a Sunday night. I should not have posted the deal until tomorrow. But don't worry, please just try one more time, if it still doesn't work, feel free to proceed the order, my uncle said that.

      • +1

Hey no worries, its a really great deal.
I got it working. Trick is to do as you advise above.
        In the Cart:
        - Use the "calculate shipping" tab before adding the voucher code.
        - Ignore the crazy discount amount shown
        - Proceed to the next page and the corrected amount appears.
I did this and my correct amount order went through with PayPal.
Makes a well-needed healthy change here on OzB after all the lollies and McDs.
        Cheers.

        • Thank you King :)
As we will run the promotion until 30/06/2014, please feel free to advise your friend (well, not from the same household, lol) with this promotion.

Anyway, beside the horrid coupon, is there any thing you would like to comment on the site? (User interface, is it easy to navigate, blah blah). My uncle is like 50 year olds already but he really keens on having an online store like these despite of his lack of knowledge about IT. I and my cousins are helping him with all we can :)

        • +2

          Sure.
Perhaps think about having a grid view like the veggie selection at the self checkout at Coles etc.
The listings were a bit painful to wade through.
          Also:
Maybe some more exotic fruit and veges? More Asian greens etc. The regular prices are a touch primo so a lot of customers are going to perhaps want to see deluxo and exotic stuff in amongst it.
I know you are just starting but the selection is a a touch "safe". I guess what I am saying is, as a niche retailer you need to decide on and be sure of your point of difference. Freshness? Convenience? Luxury and Exotic? Which is it? Then market in from that angle.
Overall awesome value with the code through very happy :)

        • +3

Since you seem to be answering all the issues happening and you also are providing OzBargain with what seems to be a good deal, let me give you some feedback. I am working in the usability space at the moment.

          Quickly going through the website:
          1. Navigation seems good. The only navigation problem to me is when I go to a details page of a product, the next step is a bit unclear from this point onwards. I would suggest a checkout button.
          2. In terms of design, I am not so sure whether having the contact details at the bottom of every page is a good idea. Users often expect it to be on a separate page - something like "About us". The links at the bottom does not have much sense of association to it.
          3. I would also change the buttons to have some rounded corners. A few of the elements are not aligned properly either.
          4. WhatFont detected the font to be 'Robot Condensed'. I would change that to a web safe one such as Helvetica.
          5. The website is probably not accessible but I am guessing that was not really taken into consideration.

          Hope this helps.

          Cheers

  • Does someone need to be home to accept delivery? Will it be left at the front door if nobody is home?

    • Hi, please put in delivery instruction / special instruction if you need it. We deliver using our own trucks, not using any delivery third party :)

Great site…just placed an order…easy as can be!
Just one suggestion, is there an easier way to order quantities greater than one rather than clicking the "add to basket" tab several times?
    Overall great value…thank you!

Thank you, SHoppingisfun :) Please recommend your friends to us

Anyway, we cannot change the design of the website ourselves but we will pass your instructions to the website developer

  • I'm getting a "Sorry, shipping is unavailable to Australia. If you require assistance or wish to make alternate arrangements please contact us." when trying to use the coupon code for delivery to Geelong, but without the coupon it seems to work. Melbourne postcodes seem to be okay either way.

Also you might want to take a look at the tab order of the fields on your checkout page, they're currently all over the place :)

  • website is down…will try tomorrow

  • Thanks OP, got through after 101th try ;) Ordered a Mix box.

  • Hi Rep, Is this offer a standing offer for first orders, or only available for a limited time. I've just stocked up and it may be better for us (and for you guys, from what I hear), if I take this up a week or two from now.
Also, just checking - what is postage to East Geelong (postcode 3219)?
    Cheers.

    • Hi brownbag,
The offer is valid for first order placed from now until 30/06/2014 (inclusively).

We do post to 3219, with a flat rate of $5.00 (after this 25off promotion, order of or over $30.00 receives free shipping)!

      • Hi i keep getting postage to australia unavailable.

        • Hi please try again

  • Didnt work last nite and not at 9.25am.
Keep getting shipping unavailable to australia and im in suburban melbourne.
    Pretty annoying.

Its great to see farmers and small biz bypassing the ripoff supermarkets - no 40c jamie oliver fee etc and i wanted to try you guys out.

    Disapointed system not working

    • +1

Hi please try again, it should be good now. We are terribly sorry for all the problem. If it still does not work, please let me know your postcode

  • Hi Rep,

When should I order if I want it to be delivered on Friday? Postcode - 3064

    Regards,
    Sean

    • Hi, please place the order prior to 12pm Thursday :)

  • +3

    Hi firebolt,
When will the deliveries happen? No hurry, I would just like to know so I can make sure somebody is home.
BTW I think you are doing a great job for your uncle. :)

    • +3

Let me ask my uncle, he is very busy atm
Edit: around 12pm to 6pm, King

  • Hi rep… Great deal but it's not letting me end transaction for postcode 3340.. I notice you deliver to Ballarat and we are half way between Ballarat and Melbourne?

    • Hi could you clean your browser and try again, I just did myself, it went through! Thanks.

  • giving this a shot.
    great offer thanks :D

  • Thanks for the offer giving it a shot.

  • Was just about to checkout but website seems down?

edit: works again, just ordered! thanks!

  • Just wondering if anyone received their fruit/veg yet? What are your thoughts?

  • +2

I just got my mixed box I'm very happy I did ask to substitute the melon as my daughter is allergic and they didn't but obviously so busy so understandable :)

  • Thanks for the deal, but some observation:
    1 corn = $0.99 | 4 corn set = $3.99
    Potatoes brushed: 1 kg set = $2.89 | 2 kg set = $5.89

Generally pack of more qty is cheaper, isn't it?

EDIT: Also, If I order today - when is expected delivery? from above comments it seems it would be next day - want to confirm.

    • We cut off order at 12 pm :) So if you place order prior to 12 pm, you will receive it next delivery day

  • Can't wait to receive my veggie box soon ;)

  • +1

Just a tip to the OP. You should get your developer to install Cloudflare which is a free CDN. Basically it will speed up the website and take some of the load off the server for static content like images/video/css.

    • Thank you for your suggestion, unfortunately this is a bit too technical to us and the only thing that we can do is to pass it to the website company :)

  • coming up with BAD GATEWAY ERROR

    • Brought back up. We informed our developer the issue and hopefully he can do something soon.

  • +2

For the people who have received their order already, what is the quality like? Nice looking fruit? Good sizes? Any bruises on the fruit? Full of flavour? Thanks

    • +3

I got the mixed box bananas were big and ripe and apples had no bruises honey dew was perfect

    • +2

I got my box and it was very good produce (I live very close to a market and regularly visit the market, and this produce was just as fresh or even fresher). I did not receive a few items I had ordered multiple qty's of (2 bunches of broccolini). But it is totally understandable as you guys had tons of orders!
      Hope everything goes well!
      Thanks again!

  • Working now, just ordered. Thanks.

  • +1

Thanks OP. And best of luck to your uncle. I was order #1000! Well done.

  • +2

Looking forward to receiving my order, and here's a few things I noticed about the site:

Changing the sorting (for example, to ‘lowest to highest priced’) only works very transiently, i.e., for a single screen. It reverts back to ‘default sorting’ whenever you change to a different page, or return to the same one after ordering something. This is very tedious.

Limes are classified as ‘veggies’, when in fact, they are fruits!

The ‘Chilli; packet’ entries need at least an approximate weight, and some sort of guide as to how much asparagus you get in a ‘bunch’ would be good also (if a weight is not practical, perhaps an approximate number of spears?).

The weight accompanying the punnet of squash is not correct (2.5 mg ?! That’s less than 1% of a single gram!).

    Veggies section:

Under the ‘Veggies’ menu down the right-hand side, you only have ‘cabbages’, ‘potatoes’ and ‘tomatoes’, which initially gives the incorrect impression that those are the only veggies you sell. You should either remove these ‘random’ submenus and just have it all under ‘veggies’, or add another submenu, ‘other veggies’, so that all the veggies you sell are included under at least one submenu.

    • +1

I like the fact you don't have to pay for web testing anymore. You just post your deal on OB and send the feedback to your web dev.

      • +2

It would only work if you're offering a pretty darn good deal though, and were polite and responsive (like this dude was). Otherwise the OB community would just flame you into oblivion in seconds! I note that uncharacteristically, OBs were actually 'complaining' that they were going to be charged zero for this deal, before the coupon bug was fixed… normally (i.e. for big corporations etc.) the mentality is 'pricing error, get in quick before they notice/fix it!'…

        • +4

Thank you for your support :) Those findings really help.

We really need help like these as we are basically a small family business thus we don't have huge budget for website development as well as advertising. Today was a great day and a thousand of fruit boxes are on their way to your kitchen :) However since we did not expect this huge order volume some orders may get delayed. We apologise if your order does not reach you on time

We will sure post more quality deals on QBs to show our appreciation to the community and hopefully we can make a change in the way a small to mid size Aussie Bizs run. It is a win win situation to both the hard working local workers as well as the consumers.

P/s: on the side note, there were like 20 orders valued $0.00 and we do honour those :P. We really appreciate those who reported and helped us resolve that nasty issues.

        • +9

"I note that uncharacteristically, OBs were actually 'complaining' that they were going to be charged zero for this deal, before the coupon bug was fixed… normally (i.e. for big corporations etc.) the mentality is 'pricing error, get in quick before they notice/fix it!'…"
"P/s: on the side note, there were like 20 orders valued $0.00 and we do honour those :P. We really appreciate those who reported and helped us resolve that nasty issues."

On that note, I'd like to point out, understanding that you guys are a small family business who is obviously spending quite a bit on this advertising and offering great value, I reported as I had felt it would have been unfair to you guys if you received orders that were $0.00.
Especially if they were large orders for expensive items such as berries/lychees. I hope you did not lose too much on those people, I honestly do not believe that people should take advantage of the WEB DEVELOPERS mistake. Unlike DS or other big corporates who have their own web development team, this business had outsourced their web development and mistakes made by that team have cost this business 20X(order amount).

          Cheers and good luck again.

        • +6

          Exactly.
If anyone got a $0.00 order, they should do the right thing and PayPal in the difference.
Would have to be a real low-life scumbag rat bastard to take advantage of that.
This is obviously a family business with an excellent attitude.

    • +5

Just got my box while writing the above post (order #869), and the stuff looks good. I got 'cherry tomatoes' instead of 'grape tomatoes' (only a 40c difference), and the 2 'Royal blue' potatoes I ordered out of curiosity have been substituted with 3 large normal potatoes, presumably due to a lack of stock/ confusion as about > 1000 orders were taken in one night.
On the upside though, I got about a kilo of bananas instead of 750 g I 'paid (33%) for. I reckon others will probably find minor discrepancies between what you ordered and what you get (especially if you ordered the 'grape tomatoes' and 'blue potatoes'… lol), but I reckon it's understandable because:
      1. the magnitude of the response to their launch clearly took them by surprise/ would've made it tricky to monitor what remained in stock as order came flooding in, and
      2. They've tried to make up for anyshortfall by adding more of something else/the next best substitute etc.
      3. They couldn't really just include a refund for the stuff they couldn't provide, because we only paid about 33% for it, and it was via paypal which would have made it tedious…

All up a great deal for the $10 I paid including delivery. I'm sure that once this 'OB launch craziness' is over, it will be easier for them to monitor stock/ make sure stuff is in stock when it's ordered. I'm still damn curious about those blue potatoes though…

  • -1

I have ordered a pick your own box, around 7:30 in the morning today, when can i expect it? Thanks

    • -1

      ???

  • I ordered a the couple fruit box yesterday plus rockmelon and sweet potatoes, will comment back on the quality of the products :)

  • Thanks for this.
    I've given this a go.
    I hope it doesn't let us down… .

    • Received my box this morning.

We ordered a Couple's Fruit Box and some Mushrooms.

The mushrooms checked out ok. Instead of 250g, we got close to 390g worth.

Now the Couple's Fruit Box, that was a disaster to be honest:

Product Description (Copied and Pasted list and then comments)

      4x mandarines PLUS "5 x mandarines"

      1x honey dew CHECK
      4x pear green CHECK
      4x oranges CHECK
      4x kiwi CHECK

2x lime FAIL "2 x lemons instead. Not quite the same folks."
      6x bananas FAIL "5 x bananas"
1x grapes-white (1kg) FAIL "Not White grapes, Red ones. They were SMASHED and wet and mouldy, weighed in at 1kg but once the contents were removed it from the plastic bag, came in at barely 800gm"

      4x Apple jazz FAIL
      4x Apple pink lady FAIL
      4x apple gala FAIL
      4x apple pink lady FAIL
      "Got 8 X Red Delicious, 2 X Pink Lady & 2 X Granny Smith Greens = Total 12 apples when promised 16"

      1x strawberry FAIL NO "Strawberry"

      Verdict? Let down.

What's worst, my account no longer exists on their website. Couldn't even log in to complain.

  • hi there…can u plz confirm if u can deliver on the weekend?

  • Haven't received my order as yet as well :-( I've pm'ed OP but haven't got a response yet. Let's see

    • btw my order # is 848 - if OP needs to check.

it was ordered at June 16, 2014 12:05AM.

      • Ive sent them numerous messages and calls with no response . Ive given up.
Firebolt did reply to a message on this ad and said to message them but nothing happened.

  • Got my order today… fuits look fresh, pomegranate (my favorite) was missing from the order (maybe because it was out of stock), but grapes added (maybe 1kilo, not sure as I did not weight them). All the fruits were in good shape except for the grapes (the ones at the bottom were smashed).

But, overall I am happy.. ^_*
