Bose QC15 $319.20 at David Jones and Myer

600

A long time lurker here, I missed the last time this deal came up:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146558

So I've been on the lookout David Jones have the same deal on again.

The David Jones in Melbourne CBD had run out of stock so I popped across the road to Myers where I was going to try get a price match but turns out they have the same deal on anyway =)

QC 3's and other Bose equipment also on sale (I think 20%).

  • So many headphones deals lately. I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about these headphones. (other than that they don't work when batteries run down)

edit: Qc20 also same price. http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?urlRequestT…

    • Does anyone personally know if the QC20 is any good?

      • +2

QC20s are now considered the best active noise cancelling headphones.
        See some OZb owners comments here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146558 & here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/132856

If you don't mind earbuds, GET THEM.

      • The QC20 are fantastic. Totally changes air travel for me

        • Looks like they dont sell the QC20i though (with integrated mic/remote for iPhone) Bugga!

        • I've checked with DJ Chadstone and they confirmed they have that version on sale.

      • I bought a pair at $355 a few months ago. Perfect for studying in the library when people are talking, and if you're a traveller they're a must have. I'm normally more of a headphones guy for the better sound quality but these things certainly don't disappoint. I would jump at the $320 price.

        • Hmm, they actually block out people talking?
          Must be amazing….

I haven't tried a pair of Active Noise Cancelling which blocks out variable noises like people talking, baby crying, etc.

They all seem to block out static continous noises such as a engine whirring like on a airplane.

Any headphones can block noise, if you turn it loud enough. Best way to test if they actually block them is to only turn on the noise cancellation and not put music or sound through them.

After reading online, it looks like these still cannot cancel out variable noise…. sigh I will keep waiting for the pair which can cancle out baby crying.

        • +2

Don't knock them before you try them. Try them out at JB or something and see how effective they are, even with variable noise such as people talking.

        • I've tried the QC3 which seems to not be all that impressive.
The sound quality is slightly better than the average Noise Cancelling headphones.

Not knocking them, just warning people so they shouldn't expect it to block everything then start complaining later saying "these are $hit because they cannot block babies crying…. not as advertised!".

Since noise cancelling headphones the box always says "90% of noise blocked" however in reality its probably only close to 60% since their tests always bias around the static noises not the real life noises of people speaking and crying.

People do not cry and talk as if they are a airplane engine!

        • Not really talking at a normal volume level, but whispering in the library yes.

I had a pair of these nearly two years ago from Myer. Right after one year warranty, the cushion was broken. BTW it is THE BEST cushion you can find on any headphones.

Overall, you pay $100 for the headphone and $250 for noise cancelling. Means a $100 head phone from a good brand will match their sound quality. But noise cancelling is superior well worth that $250.

      • How does the cushion break? What'd you do to it?

      • I have the Bose QC2's and part of the plastic broke when it was just out of warranty. The build quality is crap, but the noise cancellation is very good.

  • +3

Might wanna put in post if you purchase $99 or more on headphones in Myer you get a $30 iTunes card.

Anyone know when the David Jones and Myer sale ends?

    • Myer special ended yesterday.

  • Originally wanted the qc15, but missed out and just got the sennheiser rs120 from previous deal.
Is it worth getting the Q15?
also q20 vs q15 is a tough choice..

  • I started with the sony in ear nc8 and was very happy and then bought the Bose qc 15. they are That much better but they are that much bulkier

  • Still prefer my Sony mdr1mk2 over these comfort is better imo and I paid way less then this price

    • How much did you pay for them? It doesn't have ANC does it?

      • 250 for RNC model mate works at Sony store.

  • Purchased from Officeworks with a price match. Came to $304. Headphones shipped to store free of charge for collection.

    • Did you order it online from Officeworks or did you have to go in store?

      • Ordered over the phone, then collected in-store.

good work. don't trouble yourself giving the OP a + though….

      • -2

I bought them before the OP put this up. I posted to another topic.

        • +1

yet you wont vote because you don't think it's good? right.

sad you couldn't even be bothered to post the deal yourself.

        • Yikes. To be clear, I didn't start a new offer thread because it was captured as part of an existing Myer stocktake sale post (i.e. 20% off headphones). I also shared here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147138#comment-2053634

          I've given then OP a + though.

  • Anyone knows if they stocks the 20 version as well?

    • I meant the 20i version

      • +1

For those who have the same questions, I've asked DJ Chadstone and they have the 20i version on sale as well.

  • Thank you!!!! Was hoping there would be another deal like this as I've been eyeing these off for a while now. Just in time for some upcoming flights. Cheers! :)

  • Awesome thanks mate! Always wanted to get a pair.

  • +2

Thanks, finally relented and bought a new pair. I had the old Quiet Comfort 2 for years and they were awesome. Moved to Sony (can't remember the brand) and, while good, noise cancellation and sound wasn't up to this standard. The QC15 are slightly bulkier than the QC 3 but I think they're more comfortable and the noise reduction is better (As some reviews have said, I also found there was slightly more 'pressure' produced by the QC 3).

    • Same.. I'm a sony earphone user and purchased the QC20 today

Bose is in a whole different league than Sony..

  • +1

Myer's special was yesterday only. Price is back to $399. They will price match, but you will not get the $30 iTunes card.

  • -2

Still very expensive for headphones. You could get almost 3x Audio-Technica ATH-M50 for this price

    • +5

Except they are not the comparison to any of the Bose QC series. AT’s ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) range are the comparable headphones, specifically the ATH- ANC9.

  • +5

    Ok bought a pair.

    $399.00 Original Price
    $319.20 David Jones Price
    $303.24 Officeworks Pricematch (5% off)
$288.08 After 5% ING Paywave (multiple transactions of $99)
$260.51 After $27.57 GST Tourist Refund

EDIT: OH NO!!! I forgot my Flybuys as well….That would have worked out to be another $1.52 is savings.

    • Congrats

    • It's $300 minimum spend to get the tourist refund. Unless you bought a couple of other things on the same invoice to bump the price up …

      • +2

        the invoice will say 303.24

      • Lol hayness more like gayness

  • got a pair of these in the US. Great for travelling on planes and for clarity. Not so much for music with deep bass.

Either way, for long haul flights, this is a must while trying to fall asleep.

    • These are awesome for music and I have a very broad music interest. I haven't noticed any major drop in quality depending on the type of music I am listening to.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148501

      • Congrats

        • -1

Thanks, especially since they were free.

  • How long is the special on for at David Jones?

  • Do they sell them in Costco as well?

    • No.

  • Looks like the headphones were unpublished from DJ website.

    Not sure why…

  • Price match at Myer, and combined this with 10% off vouchers from bigw from here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146307

    • how did you get it price matched? the deal has expired.

      • offer expires 22/6/2014. it was still in effect today.

        • thanks, but its too late for me to get it price matched.
