Issues with GearBest and Going Forward

Placed two order before in gearbest and none of them got delivered.
Seems lots ppl got same problem. I don't want to see any more ppl suffer, this is why I post this "deal"
Let's warn everybody else gearbest is a scam website and suggest ozbargain to ban it!

Suggestion: what I think we can do is: can we purchase that 40 c plug via paypal and wait after 10 days. All of us make a dispute and see whether their paypal account will be locked?

  • I did receive my items from Gearbest, but not Myled, but when I complained they automatically did a full refund through PayPal so it was OK.

    card light never arrived ,(i ignore as it was not more than $1)
    for bluetooth speaker i had chat with customer care twice , they just told me to wait ,i lodged paypal case on 42nd day(since purchase day) they send me msg via paypal to wait for it , i waited for 10 more days then escalated the claim and received refund.
    after refund Gearbest sent me a message that they refunded me to demonstrate their good faith and commitment to customers (seriously it was paypal who kicked your *** thats why i got refund) and asked to repay if i get the item…
    invested too much time in getting refund and customer care chat….not buying from them again….

      Same thing here. I have already hide all deals from gearbest. Never again.

  • Placed several orders through them and although only one item was not available in each order they sent nothing. All correspondence boils down to three standard emails (Received the same three emails 14 times in total).
    Talking with other suppliers that do drop-shipping they suggest that GearBest may hold orders until they get enough orders to get the best price from their suppliers. Been through DealExtreme & FocalPrice (& many other) for years now and orders placed to them normally take 20-24 days. Only if there is a holiday or extremely busy period do I have to wait longer. The longest wait was 31 days over the Xmas 2012 period.

  • I got my shower speaker. In fact I have received got all the stuff I ordered from gearbest (credit card LED, iphone cable, bottle opener card, shower speaker), but it all took between 4 and 6 weeks to arrive. Maybe I was just lucky?

    Isn't that more or less fraud? They don't even say it will arrive in 10 days AFAIK.. Who would expect a 40 cent item to arrive on time, or in 10 days? No one with half a brain…

    I'm not defending them and think they run a terrible website, posting deals of crappy little electronics to hoard user email addresses (which they spam if you like it or not). I just think that people seem to be expecting way more from them than I do, I suppose.

  • Great. I ordered a bluetooth speaker for $10 which didnt arrive. I contacted them and they said if it hasnt arrived by mid this week let them know and they can arrange for it to be resent or a refund.. but now Im worried cos of this post.

      No need to read all of them. Just read the OP as the next thousand comments are basically the same. Lots of bluetooth speakers lost in the post apparently.

        Amazing. I just received my bluetooth speaker.
        Delivery is super slow. Over 45 days.

        So I can now believe the item was posted. I will give GearBest some credit.

        I will now suggest, that Gearbest may actually be honest, but just unacceptably slow.

        With this in mind, the stress on not getting your parts is not worth the savings they offer.

        • I think if they had just said in the original deal that most people would be waiting over 45 days it probably wouldn't have been such a big issue. The 45 day waiting time perfectly coinciding with the deadline for paypal dispute must have seemed pretty dodgy to most.

          Another question that could be asked is.. should Paypal increase to 60 days?
          I raise the issues because a lot of the cheap sellers have slow postage.
          And, I can never work out when 45 is. Adding 2 months would be easiest.

          I notice Paypal does not have a time to say how many days left you have to raise a dispute. This would be simple to implement, but I figure they don't for a reason.

  • Yep, screw GearBest (edit: this sounds harsher than I intended. I should've said "I have also had problems with Gearbest"). Placed an order 20th of April (bluetooth speaker) and still haven't received it. I contacted them and they said it could take up 45 business days for it to reach me. I'm pretty sure this contradicts their estimated arrival times that they advertise. But seriously, no shipping method takes this long, they must be screwing with their customers.

      You need to take into account their location in china. They will be shipping these products by the cheapest method possible.
      If they are shipping out of hong kong it is likely to get here faster as shipping containers full of parcels would fill quicker.
      If they are shipping out of a smaller city such as shenzhen or something it will take longer for the shipment to leave.
      You also need to factor in the fact that ships wouldn't come straight to Australia and that it would be transhipped in singapore or something.. I think you guys are assuming that there is a ship traveling directly from China to your local city.

      Also, 10,000 shipping containers end up at the bottom of the sea every year.
      ALSO, remember you are paying 1c-49c for these products.
      It costs less for you to purchase a product in China than it does to send a domestic letter in Australia..

      BY ALL MEANS i am no supporting their operations as it seems they are horrible when it comes to customer service, but what do you expect from a chinese online retailer?

      The only product I ever purchased from Gearbest was the card light which took about a month and a half to arrive for me.

      • That's fine but then in the shipping methods page they shouldn't have quoted 5-11 business days for their slowest method to Australia.

        I see after this thread it's been amended to 5-25 business days.

  • After logging onto their website, my order for the 8L Campwoods bag is still pending(even though they emailed me awhile back about it). Has anyone received theirs?.

    Not to fussed at $2.49, but can understand some others being frustrated. Hopefully it sorts itself out.

  • I have ordered 3 items from them, the 39c blue iphone cable, never arrived 3months now… The light bulb card, took one month and that card survival thing, one month. They are very slow compared to deals extreme which takes 10daya to 28days. I still want my cable!

This is the 14th or 15th message going back and forth about this issue and still no resolution!     • Had a similar goose chase with support, gave up and have opened a paypal dispute.

  • Another person who never received the bluetooth speaker. Emailed them this week and they said they would issue a refund. It has been over 2 months so we will see how we go. They seem dodgy to me. Told us all they sent the speakers but not 1 person got one…

    I'd been wondering if I'd start seeing similar comments from people here about Gearbest!

    I only received the free item from one of the ozbargain deals (iPad cable or something that I don't need) but not the things I actually payed for and could use.

    In the Paypal dispute they kept playing for time, asking me to wait longer and longer. They wanted me to wait a week past when I could escalate the claim. They even tried to direct me to communicating with them via their site instead of Paypal. I had to escalate in the last few days to gain a refund. I wouldn't bother using Gearbest again.

    My vote would be to ban them from OzBargain. I order a lot from China and very rarely run into this kind of problem.

    PLEASE people do not deal with Gear Best. They should be treated as a scam operator and part of their business model must be that a sizeable percentage of us will not chase them when items are not delivered. They do deliver to some people to keep up the appearance that they are a legitimate operator. Look at how many people here have not received items - there are too many people without items for this to be items lost in regular post.

  • Another ripped off customer here that hasn't received the waterproof speaker. Purchased 20/4/14, I received a shipping notification email on 6/5/14. Customer support emails said they posted on 7th May and that it takes up to 45 working days bla bla…..
    +1 to ban Gearbest or at the very least boycott and spread the word of their scam.

        I'm in the exact same situation as you, Shark, down to the same purchase and shipping dates. Would love to know the outcome of this.
        I missed out on opening the PayPal dispute by a day.

  • I never received the bluetooth speaker either, however I messaged them here on Ozbargain yesterday requesting a refund which came through on paypal today.

    This was not through a paypal claim as I totally forgot about ordering the speaker until it was too late and past the 45 day cut off date.

    So props to Gearbest for refunding it, I really thought I'd never see that money again.

  • OK, one of my items now arrived. 45 days from ordering.
    So, i will give the seller some credit as the item was actually sent.
    With this in mind, my current concerns are…..

    Waiting more than 3-4 even 5 weeks for a product is very poor.
    Paypal dispute MUST be raised in 45 days, meaning you are forced to be concerned after 40 days.
    A 45 day guarantee is from seller good, but there is still a risk this might not happen.

    After getting my item, i feel sorry for the seller, but 45 days delivery is unacceptable as it ensures people
    can not access their Paypal protection.

        Yep. I thought it didn't exist, but i have a bright pink speaker sitting here.
        So there is hope yet for all of you.

    I did email them with ozbargain in the subject as specified in the other deal.
    anyhow ymmv with them, i wont be ordering from them again.

    So with a weeks worth of discussion, what have the mods decided? It seems that there is a mixed bag and my feeling is it won't be banned.

  • I received my watch repair tool yesterday and I also received my previous order which was the led light thingy. However I haven't received the (Water Resistance Rafting Dry Bag) which was ordered before the watch repair tool.

  • I just got my watch repair tool yesterday. A few weeks to a month's wait is reasonable, anything more isn't. And quite honestly, if I was in your position, I would be annoyed too, but it's regular post, the parcel could of been lost or stolen for all we know.

    However I pushed it further and complained to paypal and they refunded my bluetooth speaker money back :)

    Ive received all my orders, its the luck of the draw really, issues with long delivery times can be solved with the argument that its free delivery, if you expected it to be within a reasonable timeframe you should have paid for delivery. All these mass market sites from asia, are so similar in their good and bad qualities, you could open a thread on each, atleast Gearbest is having talk to us, it could be a lot worse

  • I also had issues, I was not able to log in to their account system and they were not able to fix it and therefore I don't think they ever processed the order, just took the cash. I've emailed them again now I see this activity but share the concerns here of the OP.

  • We have now banned Gearbest from new deals pending a resolution to most of those who haven't received their item or a refund. Please keep us updated on your situations.

    My shower speaker arrived yesterday, received shipping confirmation 10/05.

  • The ticket I opened with Gearbest about my missing 3 parcels from them went something like this:
    Me: I have not received any part of my order after almost 8 weeks. Please provide an update or refund.
    GB: Have you received part of your order?
    Me: No I have not received any part of my order.
    GB: Your shipping address is a PO Box. Is it available? Have you contacted the post office?
    Me: I regularly receive letters and parcels, the latest parcel being 2 days ago. There is no problem with the PO Box.

    I'm not sure if these odd communications are due to a language barrier or whether they're some sort of delaying tactic. I'm expecting them to tell me next that my dog ate it. I don't have a dog.

    I have little hope of reaching any kind of resolution after reading the posts here. Frankly I just want the products I ordered.

      • 2 of my 3 parcels arrived yesterday, 30/6/14, so I'm not totally unhappy now. Shipped 10/5, so 7 weeks with the other still missing in action after being shipped a week earlier on 5/5. Obviously GB needs to either improve shipping times and reliability or better manage customer expectations.

      My 3rd and final parcel arrived yesterday, 14/7/14, having shipped 5/5/14. So my final assessment of Gearbest is that you'll probably get your products eventually, after a while, a long while, and then a bit longer.

    Over the past couple of days my torch and speakers finally arrived. It appears from the postage marks they were sent on 10 May 2014 but took that long to get here from Singapore. Confidence restored.

    I want to thank everyone who is coming back to say their order finally arrived. It helps the OzB community get a full picture of what is going on. There is a big difference between a company that does not send products and those that have crazy slow shipping.

    45+ days shipping still unacceptable, but at least there is hope in getting your product. Hopefully another week or two and everyone will have their products.

    I still have not received my BT speaker and was told I will be refunded a couple of weeks ago but still yet to see any on both sides.

    • exactly the same situation here only that I was promised for the refund about 4 days ago. Hopefully it isn't just a promise.
