Coles Online Survey Reward Cut from 1000 to 500 Bonus Flybuys Points Per Month

As today is the first of month & I had to do a shop, I spent $30+ at Coles & did the online survey when I got home. It seems they've cut the bonus flybuys points reward from 1,000 to 500 per month. This cuts the reward value from $5.00 to $2.50. You can still choose the "$5 off your next $100 spend" option though.

Below is cut & paste I took of the screen where you choose your reward.

"As a reward, you can choose to receive either 500 flybuys BONUS POINTS** OR a voucher to receive $5 off your next shop at Coles when you spend $100 or more.

  • 500 flybuys BONUS POINTS (your points will be credited to your flybuys account)
  • $5 off next shop when you spend over $100
  • Neither - just happy to provide feedback

  • Why do you need my email address? We just want to check and make sure there is a real human on the other end of this survey!
** a maximum of 500 flybuys BONUS POINTS can be claimed each calendar month. flybuys BONUS POINTS will be credited 4 weeks after the offer ends. Standard terms and conditions apply see flybuys.com.au for more details"

This change must have come in today. I don't recall seeing any announcement though?

Also no Coles Docket Deal on today's receipt. First time this is happened when I've spent $30+. I always get Double Points or another bfp offer on my receipt. Maybe Coles is cutting back on these bfp offers also from July 1.

Ah, they're onto me. :( I used to fill in a survey after buying even just $2 worth. It was too good to last. :(

    Stingy bas$%ds

    • You talking about Woolies ;)

  • Times are hard times are hard. Everyone is suffering in these times, including Coles - not.

  • Thanks for the update.

I was planning on doing the survey tomorrow. I've got the 1000 points from June. You've picked this up very quickly.

I'll probably give them some feedback via the survey, the flybuys contact us forms and the Coles contact us forms. I think I also have an email address for the section of Coles that runs the Tell Coles survey so I might dig that one up and send some feedback there as well. Labour costs go up over time, not down so I don't know why they have decreased the payment from the survey instead of increasing it. I'll probably also complain about the fact that customers who use the vouchers are still getting $5 but not the points customers.

I've also noticed a decrease in docket deals lately. The amount of docket deals does vary over time so it may increase next month or in a few months. I have noticed the occasional email offer for specific goods and points with valid periods over one week. These email offers are very similar to the docket deals. It's possible flybuys have moved more towards this type of offer instead of docket deals. The only problem with these types of email offers is that you can only use them once. Some docket deals could be used multiple times at the self serve register even though the docket said they were one use dockets.

The $5 off $100 spend barcode is regularly posted on ozbargain. One was posted recently here

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147119

So no need to do the survey until this one expires, & hopefully someone will post another at that time.

Thanks for the tip on using docket deals more than once via self checkout. I hadn't known this trick. Will try it!

  • Yeah, must have started from July 1st, because I did one just last week for 1,000 points.

Ah well, 500 is better than nothing, but would be ok if the survey is shorter!

    • The less points they pay, the less information they get from me!

I've just done the survey and it is shorter than usual.

  • Dang it. Too good to last I guess

  • Still good, but if you look at your woolworths dockets, you will sometimes find vouchers such as $5 off a $25 shop, or $10 off a $75 shop. I think it is quite random. My mother who spends less gets the lower offers more often, but I always get the docket to purchase $100 or more…

I never reach the purchase amount due to this issue.

Maybe I need to re calibrate the data woolworths has on me by making lots of smaller purchases throughout the week.

    • I got a $10 off voucher from woolies this weekend, though it doesn't mention a minimum spend, just says terms apply, but it does say excludes liquor, tobacco, gift cards etc.

It was strange because that shop also qualified me to receive a $30 gift card (a 3 week promo).

      I'm not going to complain!

If there is a second adult member in the household, start a separate flybuys account in their name using a different email address to your existing flybuys account. Put half of your groceries each week on that card. Eventually you will start getting lower offers on your card and some low target offers on the second account. Make sure you use the correct card if you take up one of the offers.

      • Used my $10 docket voucher last night, total shop was around $27 before the voucher, so if there was a minimum for mine it wasn't much!

  • Hi there, I used to like the Coles survey reward of 1,000 points, but now that it's only 500 points and reading what others have posted here about Woolies docket rewards I think I might have to try shopping at Woolies for abit and see which is more beneficial - ie: spending 5 minutes doing a survey for Coles to now only get 500 points ($2.50) or getting a $5 coupon reward from Woolies to do nothing.

    • Not sure how frequent the woolies dockets come around, you probably need to have an Everyday Rewards account / card too.

I've only seen one voucher on my receipts.

      • The last time Everyday Rewards ran a gift card promotion they threw in an extra week at the end where you could get a $10 voucher for spending the same amount again. Maybe they did something similar this time. I didn't do the gift card promotion this time as I had a discount for each week over 3 weeks which just came off my transaction total at the checkout.

        • Ok, that may be what I had - since the $10 docket came during the third and final qualifying shop of a "shop 3 x $100+ per week and get a $30 Gift Card" promo.

So ending up with $40 in total isn't too bad.

  • just noticed this when I did my first survey in july.
    not good.

  • Not surprised, these surveys must be costing them quite a lot of money in points value. Anyway, it's still something for nothing, was good while it lasted.

  • Damn it I was enjoying the 1000 points per month. After awhile they really started to add up. 500 is still okay though and worth doing the survey for I think

  • how often can i do in a month?

can i do survey four times a month and get 2000 points?

  • The weekly Coles catalogue I got today (8/7) still advertises 1000 points. I don't think the different areas of Coles talk to each other.

  • I think that Coles won't get as high "quality" responses to the survey now that the points have reduced. I know that when I was getting the 1000 flybuy points from the survey I actually put in some effort and actually left feedback. For 500 points I honestly can't be bothered giving as much detail and spending as much time on it as I used too

  • posted in another thread, but just had my july survey points post - still got 1,000 points even though when I did survey it was only offering 500…

My guess is that due to the confusion at the start of July with promotional material they decided to honour the original promotion and credit 1000 for the surveys done very early in the month. I'm guessing it will go down to 500 next month.

It took Coles a few weeks to update all the promotional material such as the register receipts, instore flyers and catalogues and they probably had people complain about misleading advertising. I got 1000 points and I'm happy to take it and still do the survey again in the future for whatever points I can get.

  • Good point made there by "points crazy" but if I can just mention one thing is that some sites ( even this one as it has been mentioned before ) are monitored by the companies involved in these promotions, and so Coles / Flybuys may or may not have updated their points system, but if they are viewing these posts - then they surely will and we all will lose out on those extra points - just saying :-(
