this has been going on for a while.
i set a calendar reminder every month to complete it.

    • Yeah me too :) Too easy to forget otherwise.

    • -4

      Yes, years….

    • +4

what if there was a feature on ozbargain that automatically showed these deals every month.

      • -3

and we can auto-respond with DUPE without having to log in…

    • -1

Yep. Same here. First few times I used to care about my answers. Now I just answer randomly lol

    • +1

OH bummer, I have only always and ever shopped at Coles, why didn't I know about this before? THanks to Oz bargain I now know. Even a flybuys member too, all those points I could have earned in the last 12 months. I remember the lady at the front of the store handing me a promotion sheet but at that time she mentioned only the $5 off total bill of $100 shopping and I was not interested. Nothing about the online survey …:( :( :(

  • +3

They presumably value quantity (of responses) over quality.

  • +1

a neat trick is to use the codes in the example provided on the page.

    • +2

I think they have started cracking down on this. I used to do this each month but since December I didn't receive any points for my surveys. Then I started using actual dockets again and my points are coming through now. Not sure if this is why but the dates line up so I assume it is.

  • +2

we have 3 cards in our household and do they survey for all of them, but only one of them gets credited every month.

    • +3

Just curious why you do them all then? To give the feedback?

    • Are the cards linked?

      • yes they are all linked. Is that why?

        • +2

Yes. They're all essentially the same account.

    • +4

I used to do all 4 of my cards and got 4 x 1000 points each month but they cracked down on this. only one per month now.

  • +6

These comments do actually get taken seriously so be try and be honest. This has become a major metric for store performance and determine store manager and dept manager bonuses, any systematic negative feedback will result in a grilling by the regional manager.

    • +6

Good, the manager at one of my local Coles is a d*ck.

      • +3

That's anatine discrimination. Not a poultry offense.

    • if they weren't so long i would take it more seriously

  • How to redeem points? Need to claim points online and wait for voucher or can go straight to cashier? Can we scan the voucher at self-checkout?

    • It will go to your flybuys account. Then you redeem those points as usual.

    • +1

If you choose to receive 1000 FlyBuys points, they will appear in your account within 4 weeks. You can then redeem 2000 FlyBuys points for $10 FlyBuys dollars, which you can use at Coles etc to pay for your groceries.

If you choose the $5 off option, you will get a voucher to take to the store, however minimum spend is $100, which is why the FlyBuys points options is better for almost everyone.

      1. To redeem points, go to the flybys website and select an item. To get money off your shopping with points, you must convert points to Flybuy dollars BEFOREHAND. Set a pin for your card and at the cashier, choose eftpos, swipe flybuys card and enter pin. Note: 2000 points = $10.

      2. If you select the voucher, $5 off when you spend $100+, you will be almost instantly emailed a voucher with an expiry date. The other reward is the 1000 points - No voucher for the points - this goes straight to your account after a month.

      3. $5 Voucher needs to be scanned at the cashier and forfeited.

      • I loged in and set my pin number. But how do I change points to credits? it shows "Available Balance = 0", but I have 10,000 points.

        • Redeem ?

        • Yep just click redeem then choose FlyBuys dollars and you will see the 2000 points for $10 option then you are ready to go.

In store when paying swipe your Flybuys card in the eftpos terminal and enter your pin.

  • +1

I do this and I got my partner to sign up so I can do it on her behalf too. 24,000 points come Xmas time covers most presents.

  • For a couple of months now I have received weekly emails that offer $20 vouchers for $100 spend. $10 vouchers at first were given for $50, then $60, now $70 spend.

Just curious: does anyone else get the same emails? Are the amounts the same or are they set individually?

    • Individually

      • So what are everyone's spend/discount levels? Just curious what the range is.

        • It changes heaps! We were physically mailed coupons that give 3 × $10 off $100 spends. The other thing is getting Flybuy bonuses on checkout. Our last receipt (over $100 spend) has given us a $20 off voucher with our next shop (no min purchase)! A lot of the receipts in the past have given us either $10 of $100, $5 off $50, double points, etc!

        • +1

          I often get $20 off $80 or $10 off $50 vouchers

        • Me too.

I usually shop at Woolies though, which might be why they give better vouchers.

        • +2

I still shop at both, but I now live much closer to a Coles. I must say that I've found the EDR card very… let's say… 'unrewarding' recently compared to Flybuys!

        • My voucher offers started at $10 for $50 spend but now they have risen to $10 for $70 spend. I don't know if I'll be getting any more vouchers. I'm happy with the 8 I have received so far however.

        • Actually, same as poster above… Just received offer to get $10 voucher for $50 spend / $20 for $80 or triple points!

        • Unfortunately late last year the last few shops we did were big shops and now our spend/discount levels are ridiculous…

          spend $140, get $10 off
          spend $170, get $20 off

It went up even higher than that a few times when we did some big xmas shops, had to spend over $200 to get anything which is when I "quit" trying to match it. In fact since then I've almost stopped shopping at Coles entirely because I realised I was being gamed… I wish there was a way to reset it, have tried doing a few small shops, $10 here, $35 there, etc but the targetted email offers aren't coming down at all :(

If there's a store/flybuys rep reading this - is there any "fair" way to reset this limit other than closing down and opening a new account? Because you've lost at least one consistent shopper since finding out I was being gamed :(

        • +2

I don't know of many options of getting things reset.

Starting another account is an option, but keep the old account there just in case the offers get lower.

You said we in the above post. Try setting up the new account in the name of another adult member of the same household. Use a different email address.

If you want to keep the one account, do two transactions at Coles each shopping trip. Scan your card on the first transaction and not on the second transaction. Make the total of the first transaction $10-$50 less than the target figure you want flybuys to send you offers on. You will miss out on base points but in the long run you will get more bonus points and bonus vouchers/coupons. Feel free to take a couple of weeks off here and there from swiping your card at all.

We spend between $100 and $150 per week on groceries between the two majors plus Aldi and IGA. We have trained flybuys and everyday rewards to send us offers with targets that range between $50 and $80 using the multi account household strategy.

        • +1

Thanks for the tips - that's basically what I've been trying. The offers haven't come down yet but maybe after a month or two they will "reset" to a respectable level to entice me to shop at Coles once again.

        • +2

It can take 2-3 months to have a large affect.

        • I try to spend over $120 (a struggle) because my offers have been $10 off for $80 and $20 off over $120. but now these are the only offers that I get ( $10 off $80, $20 off $120) So I will drop to $40 shops as a lot easier and see if offers scale up.

  • Bummer..I don't have any receipt on me to begin survey. Do we need receipt with flyBuys card scanned? if not required, does anyone have spare one?

    • +1

I think random numbers are ok but use mine if u want.

    • No, use the example details on the Tell coles page linked! Works 100%!

      • +1

I'm not sure if it does work anymore. Refer my comment above. Survey goes through but I am not credited with points when I use the example details. Been like this since December.

      • EDIT: I see your post below stating you received the points last month. Now I have absolutely no idea why my monthly 1,000 points have been on freeze since December then!

  • +8

Just a tip: if you perform 2 x surveys per month (on the same card is fine) you can get the 1,000 points from one survey, and the $5 off with the second survey. The points (after being converted to dollars) work the same as a gift card so they stack with the $5 off coupon.

Make sure to get both :)

    • nice ill try this

    • So the 3rd and onward survey completions are not rewarded? Does it have to be different receipt or the same one works? Or even worse the example receipt works unlimited?

      • +2

For me, the 1,000 points was only credited to my account when I used a valid receipt (using the example details or completely fake details would result in no love a month later). However, the $5 off voucher is pretty arbitrary and any details will get you that one. Plus the $5 off voucher is not targeted, it is a generic voucher and you can print it off 100 times and keep using it (until the expiry date of course).

So my recommendation would be to use a valid Coles receipt to obtain the 1,000 points when performing your first survey, then put the example Coles receipt details into the second survey and choose the $5 off voucher for that.

In terms of 3rd and subsequent survey completions, you are right that they don't count towards additional flybuys points on the same account/lined cards (they used to but not anymore). However, you can setup multiple Flybuys registrations (not linked) as long as you have more than one physical address. I have one for my work address and one for my home address. That way I can do 2 x 1,000 points surveys each month.

Sorry for the long-winded reply :)

        • +1

          very helpful thx

  • +3

    Thanks Jared17 & Food.

I used example details on Tell Coles page and it worked.

Wow…people are so helpful here…Cheers to OZbargain Family.

    • You probably won't get the points…see apate's comments above.

      • I did, got my points a month ago!

        • Oh good stuff. Then I have no idea why my lots of 1,000 points stopped when I was using the example details. Anyway, we shop there often enough so no biggie for us to keep a receipt or two.

    • -2
    • Thanks

  • +2

    I love the 1000 points.

I used to get the $5 off voucher but it was hard finding enough stuff to get the total up to $100 each time I wanted to use one. Eventually I reduced my spending at Coles and my flybuys offers increased in value and lowered in target. I couldn't get the $5 tell coles voucher any more but I was getting much more in other rewards.

I stopped doing the survey and didn't start again until about a year ago when they introduced the 1000 points. Collecting more than 1000 points a month went well but I'm not surprised they closed this loophole.

I try to give accurate answers but usually do the surveys on really small shopping trips so I can answer N/A to lots of the questions.

  • +4

Thanks for posting this again, I had forgotten about the surveys to receive 1000 FlyBuys points.

My local Coles store has made the main entrance one way only: you cannot exit via that door, requiring customers to walk all the way around to the other exit. It's a much longer path to the car park. I suspect this was done to limit shoplifting, but it is annoying. I put my feedback in the survey.

Coles has the right idea in rewarding customers for their feedback (as long as people don't abuse the offer…). I never fill in surveys where the entire benefit is for the company and I get nothing out of it.

  • +4

unrewarded feedback surveys tend to be filled by customers who receive exceptionally good (or poor) service, so companies typically receive two extreme ends of the satisfaction distribution only. by rewarding customers to do these surveys, they will get a more representative sample which hopefully leads them to act on what they need to improve. i hope this tellcoles thing continues indefinitely because i think it's a big win-win.

  • Didn't get my points for the past two months… I think it is because the two shops were on the 31st Jan and 1st February. I haven't gone into coles since.

    • I just got 3000 points from surveys filled in the first 3 months of this year so maybe they had a lengthy delay processing the surveys.

  • I often wonder if they take feedback seriously. My most recent gripe on the tellcoles survey was Coles (unlike Woolworths) is charging much higher prices for unsalted cashews, as opposed to salted ones. And only salted ones ever go on sale (below $10 for 750g). Due to this, I only buy from Woolworths. Well, we will see if such surveys matter. (BTW Does anyone know where to get cheap unsalted cashews?)

    • +5

At my store each comment is discussed among the team in the morning huddle. Comments about presentation, availability, quality and service are all accountable to the store manager however comments on price are disregarded due to limited control(at store level).

Regarding the cashews, I believe the unsalted ones come from a different supplier and have a different shelf life.

  • just curious if anybody here has won the $1000 that you can win if you complete the survey….

    or have they stopped this?

    • I have never won the monthly prize. As far as I know the monthly prize is still going but I can't remember how much it is for.

    • +4

my wife won it this month, a wa store
      $1000 coles gift card

  • I can say with the utmost certainty that I'll be doing the survey on the computer next time… Not on the phone!!!

  • Why didn't I know about this survey before?!?! Thanks OzBargain!

Just completed the survey, easiest 1000 Flybuy points earnt. Locked in schedule for months ahead!

  • +1

You know that you can have multiple flybuy cards that are not linked.
    That way you can:

    (1) Fill in several surveys per month.
    (2) Only use the main one with big shopping trips and the others with small shopping trips, that way they will offer you more rewards with the other flybuy cards (like $10 for $50 spend etc).

  • I know that some members have mentioned the idea of doing two tell coles surveys a month, one to get the $5 off coupon and once to get the 1000 flybuys points.

I'm wondering whether anyone has had success doing this using the same email address for both surveys.

I have two email addresses, one each for our two flybuys accounts. I don't want to go to the hassle of setting up another email address.

This month is one of those rare months where I'll actually be spending over $100 in one shop at Coles. I thought I might try the double dipping trick. I did a survey today using a variation of my name, the same email address as my primary flybuys account but didn't fill in a flybuys number.

My intention is to do another survey tomorrow using my own name and flybuys number for a different coles receipt and opt for the 1000 points. I'll also be doing a survey in my partners name tomorrow using a different receipt and the email address I use for his flybuys account.

If I'd thought of doing this earlier I would have done the survey before the end of March as our March points have already been credited.

I'm just wondering whether coles and flybuys cross check the informaiton by email address. Will I get my voucher but not my points? You used to be able to do the survey without giving an email address but ever since they put this requirement in, they have been tighter on allocating points.

    • no problems having same email address as my wife, her mother and myself all use my email address on separate Flybuys accounts. This is not to scam Flybuys it's just because they don't use email.

  • New month everyone, remember to re do the survey for April :)

  • If I do one on the last day of the month (say 11:55pm) and another the next day (12:05am) - how far apart are the 1,000 points credited ?

    • Still 4 weeks apart I'd say. They seem to do them in batches.

      • I just got mine from last survey time, so it's about 3 weeks

  • +1

Do the receipts need to be month specific?

As in, if I have a receipt from March, can I use that to complete the survey in April?

    • Well they ask you to fill in the receipt date and time so that's the month that they count, not when you filled in the form.

    • +1

From what I understand, the date of receipt don't matter, just when u fill those surveys. You could do the surveys in March and April using receipts from January.

  • any time once a month or do they have to be 30 days apart?

    • +1

Anytime once a month, even if it's 31st of March and 1st of April.

  • Got my April survey points yesterday. Did it on the 1st of April.

    • +1

My April points came in as well. This means I successfully got a $5 voucher and 1000 points using the same email address for two surveys.

  • +1

Would have been great if the $5 voucher can be used without having to spend $100 min. It's difficult for people without cars to buy that much stuff.
