So this is OK if I've had a low rate card before (and got the cashback promo?)

  • Hmmm, still got another year to wait before I can apply for this one again. Closed in July last year.

Frequent flyer card as in any Velocity ones?

Churnings dead with these 24 month cooldown periods and amalgamation of banks :(

    • Can I churn my Suncorp now that both are owned by the same a/h's ?

      • +1

I have closed my suncorp card, last year october. Applied for this card now, and its unsuccessful. Waiting for the detailed reason in a letter.

        • Got a letter with generic reason. Followed up with an email, similar response. I have churned 3 cards in last 2 years. Did not have ANZ card before. Have excellent credit score, still got rejected.

  • does council rate payments fulfil the spending criteria?

    • +1

No. If it doesn't earn points, it doesn't count towards spending criteria. That's in the T&C.
I found out the hard way, paid Sunshine Coast rates using sniip qr code only to discover that doesn't actually use my snip account and stored credit card, it just takes you through their "fee free" payment gateway whilst still appearing as council on the bill and no points.
I paid another government bill using sniip the proper way and that got points and got me over the$3500 spend.
Sign on points received a day later. (fyi redemption of the points arrived in velocity instantly)

  • T&C’s says govt charges excluded from points earn, however I’m not sure if using an intermediary such as Sniip would work.

    • +1

Using sniip properly (not their qr code on Sunshine Coast council bills at least) works fine and counted for me.

      • Cheers for this, will do the same

  • Anyone know how long the $50 cashback takes?
Got the 60k points a few days ago, waiting for the $50.

    • Have you got this yet? I just got the 60k as well.
