Got this last night for $199 from DSE on eBay. Was on sale 350 down to 250 and then the 20% off eBay sale.

  • Sweet,and I thought this was a good price.

Probably the best price around now, but hard to give this a vote knowing that it was $199 shipped from Dick Smith eBay store the past 2 days using the 20% off voucher.

Was $199 delivered yesterday from Dick Smith and eBay 20% off deals, even then I hesitated and didn't grab it. Only if it had a higher res screen.

  • The price is back to $349 at DSE and I doubt we'd see a repeat of Ebay's offer any time soon. Clearly Ebay used the opportunity to pull a stunt pre-EOFY.

Off topic, but I've noticed that Chinese manufacturers have now started shipping Atom tablets with Windows 8.1 (full version) installed for $300 USD.

    • Yeah, I've been talking about this since March when people thought Chromebooks were cheap, but were unable to install windows on it. I mentioned you could import a Windows 8 Tablet from China at the same price.

Depending on the quality you want, you might be able to get ones at $200.

Good for you SCRAMPY, but expired now. That was a bit of a special once of sale experience not to happen too often. This price is good now, and if you ask me about what a tablet with these specs should be always priced at, if not less.

  • It's still a great tablet. I have one and can't complain although it crashes almost always when trying to load the camera. Doesn't bother me too much given that the camera is pretty poor.

i am waiting for my encore to come tomorrow or something.
I got enough of these already, time to hand the old nexus 7 to relatives :)

Windows under 9 inch tablets should flood the market very soon with similar chipsets at 100 cheaper than ipad mini

Thanks for the confirmation. Most people probably don't know that Windows 8/8.1 is now free to tablet manufacturers for tablets 9" and under, so the price will drop by a fair bit to compete with Android tablets. All the parts to make a tablet is fairly cheap, that's why you can get lesser known brands for well under $250.
