For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Got it for my wife recently, lots of tablet in there for the price. She was put off by all the Chinese characters until I hunted the last settings to disable them

    • +1

      Hows the display and performance?

      • +1

I haven’t used it enough myself, but the display looked good while I was setting it up

      • Both very good. Performance wise this tablet is solid. Just feels huge sometimes.

        • I have s9 samsung. Not sure do i need to upgrade or not

      • I have it, I use it, looks great and runs really well. You have to put effort in to get rid of the Chinese and make it English, I've made a couple of guides here.

    • +1

      Where was the setting?

    • Do you still have it for Netflix?

I seemed to have gotten it off everything except Netflix…

      • Don’t use sorry

        • Cheers :)

Its really annoying because 90% of Netflix is in English and its the smaller/detailed items that is stuck in Chinese. Everything else in the UI in every other app is English…

      • +4

Just rock stremio + realdebrid + torrentio and you'll never have to worry about any streaming service again lmao.

        • TB supremacy

  • Coming up as AU$267.52 without a coupon but then adding tax brings it to AU$297.18 and can’t add the coupon:

Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount.

    • +2

That's likely because your currency is set to AUD. Sometimes it won't apply properly. Why using USD is explained in the post.

      • Ahh thank you

  • What does the “2nd” mean in the title?

New Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2nd 2025 Tablet Dimensity 8300 2.9k Resolution 144Hz Refresh Rate WIFI 10200mAh WIFI Android

    • 2nd generation. This was the "first gen" but technically not as there was an original 2022 version that had OLED. Sadly the later models replaced OLED with LCD :(

      • So theres a 2022 .. a 2023 .. and a 2025 …….. but no 2024?

        • +4

Technically this is the 2024 version as it came out in around November 2024 and everyone just calls it 2025.

Lenovo last month released the Xiaoxin Tablet Pro GT and 2 other tablets. The GT has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and that's a beast. It's currently ranked 13th while the Dimensity 8300 in this one is ranked 29th (out of 216).

          • +2

@Clear: yeah, i saw the Pro GT, it's almost double the price, smaller screen and battery, just faster chip, so that's going to drain pretty fast with the smaller battery, so not worth it in my opinion if you're going to consume media and general use basically.

  • Did someone manage to get Google Assistant working?

    • And google Quick Share ?

    • You have to go into the Google app, profile circle > settings > google assistant > general > toggle it on (if it is on already toggle off and on)

The initial turning it on in the normal tablet settings when you first install the assistant app didn't work.

Video for P11 plus but it is pretty much the same.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrwrfSMzGJw

      • Thanks mate, followed your instructions only to found out that it was already toggle ON. But it still doesn't work. Circle to search doesn't work either

        • You may need to have the Google Home app installed if you haven’t. I assume you have the google assistant app installed already.

It gave me the option of gemini or google assistant. There might be some setting you may have missed.

          • @Mnke: Thanks for the reply, mate. I’ve been mucking around with all the settings for the last couple of weeks, but no luck. Ended up chucking the Global ROM on last night instead. Now the tablet’s fully Westernised — all in English and working spot on.

            Appreciate your time, cheers!

  • +1

Is it just me or 8G/256GB doesn't ship to Brisbane?

    • Correct. This is a special kind of "limited sale" listing and only the 8GB/128GB is included with the lower price. Anything else and you get that message.

  • I bought mine last time 8GB/256GB version for 275AUD - (30 cashback from cashrewards). so 245AUD for the 256GB version. thanks to @Clear whom messaged me
I've flashed my tablet with the latest clean google Global Rom, and it's an awesome. one of the best value for money devices I've owned.

    • Where did you get the Global ROM from? I know Lenovo were bricking other tablet models if the Lenovo RSA tool picked up that it was a CN version.

      • -4

        here…
        https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YPhrt7gOZyqGqc5kTGBv4tV51eM…

Yes, if you go global rom, you loose OTA, so make sure you disable it. otherwise it works great, i've been on it for like weeks now.
i know how to upgrade to new version of rom if a newer comes out, but then again, i'm in IT, so i know what i've doing.

      • +1

I just followed the instructions here https://old.reddit.com/r/androidtablets/comments/1jiueal/glo… and while you do loose OTA, its perfect now and i no longer have to deal with the recent Chinese language bug introduced in ZUX OS.

For anyone reading, please note i do not take any responsibility if you brick your device. Make sure you take the time to do your research and setting up before you proceed.

        • Apart from losing ota, are there any other reasons not to do this?

Seems like the best thing to do tbh, thanks for the tip!

          • @TEER3X: Haven't found any reasons not to so far. This also allows you to get native support for gemini as your assistant and other google features such as circle to search.

      • +1

you can get it direct from softwarefix (the lenovo tool), need input a fake serial (A00000 I think) and select the global device (TB373FU)

You do lose OTA but it doesn't brick your device if you try to update.

        • Nice. Thanks for the tip. Can we also flash the global rom via this tool?

          • @bfg100k: Don't think so, software fix would pick up the devices' actual serial.

The downloaded package comes with SP flashtool and the files get saved to C:\ProgramData\RSA\Download\RomFiles if you're on windows. I'd use that with the scatterfile from the link that @miztory posted instead of downloading SP Flashtool elsewhere.

Anytime you want to update, follow the same deal but untick userdata. Latest version is 17.0.04.088

            • @GUYANDSON: Awesome. I have been holding out on the conversion as I was worried about the source of the tools and ROM. Will have to give this a go this weekend!

This tablet was great at first, but do not recommend it. Better to get a Galaxy Tab S9 when it goes on sell.

    • Why were your initial impressions good but you don't recommend now?

    • +1

I'm interested to understand your issues too…. I've had this tablet for a month or two, and it does everything I need. Very happy with it.

    • +1

Curiously why? I've had mine for several months now and its still fine?

      • +4

        What I liked at first:
        - Super Fast
        - Smooth
        - Large Display

After a month of use, some things have started to bother me:
        - Random Chinese here and there.
        - Pull Up global search is something I’ve started to miss.
        - YouTube colour quality wasn’t as good as I expected.
        - Volume animation looks crap.
        - Random spaces before apostrophes.
        - Screen too sensitive when holding the edges, many times it pauses my video due to a slight touch.
        - There’s a number apps that actually have issues on Android 15.

In a nutshell, the overall experience becomes abit compromised, which I understand I should be able to live with given the price, but I just feel spending an extra $100 for an S9 would go along way in the long run. Not to mention the value retained by the S9 would be a lot higher when it comes to resale, where as the Lenovo, the resale value would be non existent in the future.

        • +1

An extra $100 would not get you an S9, an extra $150 + a trade in, probably.

          • @cephh: Most tablet lovers on ozb would have probably already jumped on the sales that’s been happening in the last few months. $350 was the going price. Most likely it will happen again.

        • Thanks for the well thought-out reasoned reply.

I'm with you on the 'random Chinese', but so far its only been on the Netflix app for me.

I'm normally a Pixel/Google launcher person (Pixel phones etc), but on this device I installed Microsoft Launcher and it seems to work well enough.

I'm still loving it though for the price. I'm using it mainly as a media player / very big ebook (still prefer to read on a e-Paper Boox, but don't want to carry too many devices onto a plane…).

        • Flash the device with the Global rom, and some of your problems will be resolved. However flashing requires some technical patience, and understanding that you lose OTA and risk bricking if you do it incorrectly.

        • 2 more to add to the list of "dislikes/issues" with the stock China ROM

          • no multi-user support
          • 5GHz Wifi lacks B band support (i.e. channels 96-144)
  • Thanks. Brought for my son's bday pressie.

if there is indeed a global rom that can be flashed on to this, please post a link to it

    • look above at my comments, but be warned, it's not an easy flash, you gotta know what you're doing or you will brick the device

      • Thanks for the links above.

Will give it a crack but sure I should be oka :) Been flashing since the CyanogenMod days, got Ubuntu touch on a Nexus 6P and openwrt on a few routers.

Still, there always the change I brick it 😭

I got this tablet for myself, don't use it much anymore since i purchased it. But i've never come across issues with chinese language coming up at all. It is really easy to use. If you really want get your son to learn some mandarin to use the tablet LOL (jk)

  • I literally just bought this two hours ago, is there any way to refund the initial purchase? I don't use aliexpress much

    • Go to My Orders and you should be able to cancel the order.

      • Perfect, thank you!

  • I bought the Lenovo 8" Legion Y700. It does not install Minecraft. Paid via play store, downloaded then couldn't install for some reason. side loading didn't work either.

anyone tried if there is any issue installing Minecraft?

    • +2

When i had issues installing it recently, it was coz i had Minecraft TRIAL installed.
Removing the Trial version did the trick for me.

I think they really should make the installer a little more intelligent.

  • Does this come with a 5g sim version?

  • Does anyone know the best way to find which stylus is compatible

  • Does this have 3.5mm jack?

Please dont judge, asking for my old school Dad.

    • No it doesn't.
Presumably, a work-around would be either getting a USB-c to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter (can't be used whilst the device is charging ofc), or get a pair of cheap bluetooth earbuds.

      • Yep, adapter will work. He wanted to connect it to an old speaker sets.

        Thanks.

  • Just ordered! After cash back comes through i got it for $245 great deal!

  • Cheers OP, ordered the 8/128GB, the 256 was out of stock otherwise for $20 would have went that.

  • Cashbacks for other items like pen and case bought later have shown in my account, except this tablet.
