1kg Freshly Roasted African Coffee $24.95 FREE Shipping @ Safari Roast

570

We've just put together a beautiful new blend with some of our favourite beans and have got it on a great deal for the next four days - $24.95 for 1kg including Australia wide shipping.
It's a delicious blend made from our newest beans from Malawi as well as our Ugandan Mt Elgon and Zimbabwe Crake Valley and tastes great regardless of brew method. As an espresso shot it has a nice citrus and slight cherry acidity as well as some nice malt and cocoa tones, while if you use it as a latte etc the sweetness from the Malawi and smoothness of the Zim becomes more apparent, while the Ugandan gives a nice body to cut through the milk.
Definitely another product we're really proud of and very excited to be offering, for further info and tasting notes please refer to the link provided.

*Due to an absolutely staggering response, we've totally sold out of this offer. However, in the next couple of weeks we do have some more new beans on the horizon, so will have another surprise for OzBargainers :) *

    • Hi Choofa,
Yeah the Malawi beans have just been finished up and sent along to everyone who ordered, so will be appearing on your doorstep shortly :)

Ordered some. I've been really happy with all the beans I've bought from Safari before and the service is great too.

    • Thank you, glad you've enjoyed them :)

Thanks for being flexible, I made that request in the notes section of the order.

      • I'd love to be able to do the same. Sent you an email…

  • This must be the cheapest 1kg delivered price available?

  • +1

Nice price for a kilo, I'll give it a shot.

    • Thanks chillemi, enjoy :)

    Hi Op,

Is the coffee grounded or not, if not, can you guys assist with the grinding? Thanks

    • Hi blitzpaladin,
It doesn't come ground, however, if that is your preference we're more than happy to do that for you as well, just leave a note while ordering and we'll take care of it for you.

      • Thanks Op, just ordered a kg and left you guys a note regarding the grounding.

        Thanks!

Cracking price again. I've just ordered some from elsewhere, but at this price (and with the recent cold weather I've been ripping through my coffees), I'm just gonna order some anyway as promised last time!

Also, I initially tried to order on iPad, but the checkout process stalled after hitting 'checkout', it didn't redirect to PayPal, so I ordered again via PC. I hope that doesn't upset your inventory in any way.

    Thanks rep.

No worries at all, that'll be fine but thanks for letting us know anyway. And yup, our coffee consumption has rocketed up too with this winter weather. Got some new cold drip equipment but cant bring myself to use it!

I tried a cold drip coffee from Chez Dre on a freezing cold, rainy Melbourne day a week or two ago. Really enjoyed the experience, even if it seemed like a slightly mad decision at the time!

        • Never been there but love that part of Melbourne, food heaven!

Will give this try thx Rep

    • Thanks baz737, our pleasure, enjoy.

Good price… Just ordered 1kg to give it a try!

    • Thanks Poimandres, hope you enjoy it

Hi rep how would you contrast these beans to those from Central America and Asia? Thanks!

    • These have more of a prominent citrus acidity/brightness when you have them black than other Central American / Asian beans. However, they do have a tasty sweetness and cocoa flavour that some nice South/Central American beans tend to have. Hope that helps :)

  • +1

    I just ordered.
Hope it tastes as good as the description.

I'm also interested in a Zimbabwe (Mutare) coffee.
I know the area very well, and it produces a great taste.

When will it be back in stock?

    • We'll have that one within the next two weeks, yeah its a beauty, if youd like to email us I can keep you in the loop and let you know when it arrives.

  • +1

Just ordered 1kg. Sounds nice so will give it a try.

    • Thanks silentas, hope you like it :)

    can i order it in 2 x 500g bags?

    • Sure can, just use the buy coffee bag link at the top of the page to add the extra bag to our order and we'll take care of it from there.

    Cool. Ordered 2 Kg….
    Cheers

    • Enjoy :)

Hi, just wondering if your coffee is fair trade or sourced ethically.

    • Plus 1. Any details appreciated.

    • I too would like to know this. I can't help but notice that the OP has skipped this post…

        there's your answer.

      Hi aaachu,
Sorry, I get notifications and try to answer each comment as quick as possible, however, at 10pm yesterday I didn't want to give you a half effort answer to a very valid question. Our Zimbabwe beans are sourced from a farm that does some truly fantastic work for the community including providing education for the children of the farmers, healthcare for those people living in the area and paying a premium wage. They're grown on a farm that is also involved in the dairy industry and the organic matter from the dairy farm is used as natural fertiliser on the coffee trees, as well as encouraging continuing health for the soils. Our Malawi beans also come from a co-op known as Mzuzu which is also really very special and places a strong emphasis on empowering its female coffee farmers in particular by appointing female community leaders and organising womens farming co-ops which can be very scarce unfortunately. However for both men and women, Mzuzu ensures their coffee is sold at a premium price meaning they get paid above and beyond a "commodity" rate which as a bottom line means a better life for all the farmers involved. They too also organise education and health facilities for farmers and their families. Hope this helps, we also have much mroe info on the website if you'd like :)

      • Great stuff, thanks for the response :)

  • +2

Gah, just wasted $25 on 1kg of shitty quality coffee beans from the supermarket too! I got desperate as my usual place wasn't open at the time, only reason why I buy Supermarket stuff. Once I get close to finishing this lot I'll definitely have a look at ordering from you.

    • Look forward to it JayM :)

      • How long do they last in the sealed container?

        • They come in a zip-lock valved bag which keeps them at their optimum freshness for about three weeks, as the flavour doesn't fully develop for roughly a week anyway. However, we do sample our beans as they age post-roast and they do taste fine at, for example, five weeks, but just don't have as much of that beautiful fresh aroma, and it can be at about this time that some of the finer flavours and brightness start to get a touch duller. Hope that helps :)

Leaving aside the drive by troll- like post, where? That's quite the bargain if they're comparable.

    • +7

Everyday offerings will most likely result in everyday results. And we aim a lot higher than that…

      • Well said :)

    • not sure why the negs for saying cheaper beans are available - esp on a BARGAIN site! I get the wanting to help a small company thing, but that is just ignorance.

  • +1

great price, looking forward to trying this blend. Cheers!

    • Thanks dalecjr, always enjoy hearing what people think of our blends :)

  • Could you tell me where this ships from? Your website doesn't tell me where you are. I'd prefer it to not be in the air too long as I have read the beans lose some of their flavour when exposed to changes in air pressure.

edit: you appear to be in Geelong.

    • Hi zzymurgy,
That's right, the beans will be roasted and shipped from Geelong.

  • +2

Safariroast, you had seem to have skipped my question.

    • Hi aaachu, sorry I replied to your original comment, not this one :)

  • Hi OP,

Seems the website doesnt use any SSL/security specially on the payment pages. Plus nowhere the address/ABN/local contacts are mentioned. Am I missing something?

    • If you pay with paypal should be fine as far as security etc I would imagine.

    • Hi zonaid,
As figarow mentioned, all payment details, security and encryption etc are handled by PayPal. And for contact details, we provide an email contact form which in nearly all cases will be answered the same day. Hope that helps :)

  • any chance you will have more stock soon?

    • hi bensl, we've got another deal on the horizon coming soon, so stay tuned ;)

  • Hi Rep what is the eta on this? Order was placed 3rd July. Thanks.

    • Hi figarow, your order should be arriving anywhere from Friday-Monday depending on your location, via AusPost :)

      • +1

And also, further to this, a very small number of customers have taken an aggressive tone towards us via email which is disappointing to say the least as we always strive to provide the best quality service. We are working around the clock and into the night to roast orders as quickly as possible and are dispatching them via AusPost Express to also ensure they arrive as fast as possible. We also take the quality of our product extremely seriously and will never take any shortcuts whatsoever. We also understand the anticipation that comes with making an online order and this is also a factor in us working to dispatch these as fast as possible. Thank you for your patience, all orders will have arrived by Monday-Tuesday depending on your location and also due to the fact that we are required to spread our load due to AusPost requirements (eg our local facility simply cannot handle 200 parcels lodged at once from us).

        • +1

Monday or Tuesday will be perfect, I'll just about have burned through this other KG of coffee I have here from MannaBeans - a recent cold slowed down my intake, unfortunately :| - so I'm on board with this update. Thanks rep.

And that's a bummer to hear that people are getting upset over your delivery times.

        • @LaTerrible:

My beans (2x500g bags, which I really appreciated) arrived today - easily the best smelling postal delivery I've received in some time! I haven't the culinary vocabulary to to properly explain the smell, but suffice to say it was terrific.

Gave my grinder a clean (ie made a mess all over the bench and sink) and then proceeded to brew up a cup. Really great stuff, another blend that I felt bad about mixing milk through (which I think is the highest praise I give to beans these days)! Nonetheless, even with a gentle pour of milk the tremendous flavours had no trouble cutting through.

Thanks rep, will definitely be a repeat customer at this price again.

        • Thanks for the great feedback, it really is appreciated. And don't worry, I have to say I love a good latte, its a nice guilty pleasure! :) Got some more yummy beans coming up so keep your eyes peeled!

  • Received mine about 20 minutes ago and just finished a cup. Great blend IMO, especially after having to suffer 1kg of starbucks beans. A little more communication would be nice though, the only indication I had that I would be getting the package today was an email I got from auspost this morning. Perhaps an ETA on roasting/shipping? Will be purchasing from you guys again though, great cup.

Thanks for the great feedback and we're so glad that you're enjoying the beans. Following a few requests and some feedback such as yours we've just implemented a step by step notification system which will let you know when we've roasted your order and also your tracking details which will both be sent via email. This will make the whole process much easier for all involved and will let us provide even better customer service. Have a great weekend :)
