this price is the local chemist's everyday price

  • The 3kg packs appeared again a few weeks ago selling at $15, as part of a catalogue special. Any store that still has stock of this occasional item will be selling them at the $12 price. My prediction is that if there is still stock of this item next week or the week after the price will go down to $10 for 3kg. I bought this item last year when it went down to the $10 price a few weeks after the catalogue promotion.

  • Get it before it VANISHes…… Ha!

I recall the active ingredient is sodium perborate which is found in a similar/same quantity in the Aldi brand which is much cheaper usually. Excellent for cleaning/preparing wooden decks.

Aldi currently is selling a 3Kg pack as well, I think it was about $10 or a fraction under. If you look at the packaging of the Aldi one, I'm pretty sure their 1Kg pack one IS napisan (or a similar mainstream brand) - the plastic container is identical, right down to the batch number style, it's just a slightly different colour.

    • I've found the generics are just as good except they don't dissolve as well, leaving a clump in the detegent drawer (also meaning the rinse water had some in it)

      :(

      • I have more problems with brand-name washing powder clumping than I have with the Aldi stain remover (top loading washer).

I've started taking to mixing the powder with water in a 1L jug first, then pouring that in.

      +1 to this..

Aldi has the 3kg pack for $9.99 at the moment (just bought one )
its also 32% sodium perborate compared to ~26% for napisan

    • Stay-at-home Dad here, clicked on this bargain just to mention this myself.

I've also had amazing results with heavily soiled (i.e. poo stained) clothes by doing a wash with white vinegar (gets rid of the smell), followed by a wash with bicarb (to get rid of the stain). This is on clothes that I had soaked first in a bucket with the Aldi-brand powder, followed by a normal wash (which I always throw some sodium perborate powder in with).

Unfortunately I've struggled to find bicarbonate soda in bulk for cheap (even looked into buying it through my wife's work via their catering supplier, but the per gram price was the same as buying a small box from the shops).

      • Sahd i use bicarb and vinegar for everything too.

You can get cheap bicarb from costco. Cant remember exactly how much :( but i recall it being heaps cheaper than the homebrand bicarb
