  • I was just about to post this! Seems like a pretty good deal. Anyone have any input on this whisky?

    • +5

It's alright, but I personally prefer a good single malt. I find this a bit bland, but some people probably prefer that to the more full on flavours you can get in a single malt.

      • +2

Thanks for the input. For the price I think I'd rather a good single malt.

        • It's all about the presentation and the bottle when you're giving scotch to someone, especially if they're not much of a drinker. If I were buying for myself, hell no I'm not buying a $120 bottle haha.

Just in time. Needed something to mix with the 50% off coke deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151849

Humour, not sarcasm. And I agree with your post (and -.-), it's a good "present" scotch.

cumova you seriously thought he was being serious?

        • +3

          yes, yes i was

        • +1

          no, no i wasn't

    Looks good for the shelf

From memory you also get a nice rupee satchel; so you can role-play your favorite Legend of Zelda moments after you down the bottle.

      Source: Experience.

    • ill sell you my empty bottle if all you're worried about is how it looks

highland park 18 y/o is a nice drop for 129.90 if you are in this price range.
    (normally in the 160+ range)

I think you can also use the code : DMWEL0714
    For free standard shipping

  • Is this (retail) more just because it is a limited edition bottle? Or is the scotch actually better also than similar aged scotches?

    • +1

you tend to pay a little more for Johnnie Walker because its a known brand, much like rolex with watches. People buy it when they don't know anything about the products because they think its the best.

Its ok for a 21yr old blend. I would buy an 18yr old single malt instead any day of the week though

  • Thanks for the post. Just picked up two bottles. Top price!

  • is $120 for a bottle of spirits considered a bargain? Isnt there anything for $35-$50 that tastes similar and gets you sloshed all the same?

    • $35-50?

      Fruity Lexia $11.95

      • really? So theres only 2 classes of consumer out there.

flaggin on the clothesline, or $120 whiskey….

        • im was joking….

Whiskey appreciation isnt about getting sloshed. From about $60 you can get some really great single malts worthy of buying. But anything under that you might as well just get jim beam or something and mix it with coke

  • on the flip side, this also makes a nice gift (however this is cognac)

This is simply crazy; why would anyone pay $120 for 700ml of liquid? Surely human taste buds have a 'retina screen' limit on taste?

    • +5

      you haven't lived, clearly

    • You would need to be a discerning scotch drinker, I can honestly say that I am not, nor would I ever pretend to be. I've tried a few times, TBH the best 50+ yo single malt tastes the same to me as the cheapest blended crap from the bottle-o…it's just not to my particular palate.

      Each to their own though…

i consider myself a whisky drinker. I've got a bottle of glenfiddich 30. I've only ever had one glass of it and it was the most amazing experience. It wasn't just a taste, it felt like it transported me to a room with a fire place and old leather seats.
It sounds so tacky and stupid i know but its amazing that a liquid can have that effect.

        • Nothing tacky or stupid about it IMHO, the senses of taste & smell evoke highly visceral memories for most people. We all have our favourite triggers… :)

That thumbnail looks like something familiar from far. Especially if I take my glasses off.

Thanks OP. Just ordered one. Would be great for the kids 21st birthday - of course the chances of it actually making it that far unopened are pretty slim. Free delivery code worked fine also with a wine order added in. Well spotted!

How many years till 21 lol.
Maybe I should get a few for the seven kids i'm yet to have.

  • Is this still available for 120? It says 199 when I click through.. Hope I didnt miss out!

    • Check whether you have any other items in the cart. For some reason the $120 only applies if you ONLY if that's the only item in the cart. But that's no biggie, since you have the free shipping coupon.

      • Thanks for the reply. Seems they're flat out of stock now anyway.. Congrats to those that scored one!
