  • Hmmmm whats the quality like?

    • +1

It's pretty good. But they put in optical centre of the lenses at the centre of the frame. This means that if the frame sit little high or little low, you're gonna get quite a bit of distortion especially if you have a high script. This happened with mine where the frame sat quite low (and it was a big frame) so I was looking about 1~2cm above the centre of the lenses. It gave me quite a bit of headache so I don't wear them anymore. Although I quite like the frames. Also even though I didn't include any coating, mine came with them (not sure if it was a mistake).

      • Hmm I didn't know this. I'm -5.25 and every time I use mine from clearlycontacts for more than a few hours I get really sore eyes.

  • +2

Thanks for posting! Ive claimed two pairs on previous occasions and must say they are excellent quality, the brands were Coach and Alex Dillon or smth!

  • The quality is better than Specsavers! But don't Clearly Contacts usually have free specs (just pay shipping) deals regularly?

  • +2

Would anyone know if Cyl and Axis make a difference, can i just leave them as none? I know my rough prescription but never heard of Cyl or Axis, not really wanting to waste $9.95 ordering glasses not suited to me.

    • +4

That would be your astigmatism. Most people have minor amount of it but you may not. Ideally you should put it in if you have it so maybe ask your optometrist for your script? Otherwise leave it out if you don't know.

      • +1

Hey, thanks for that, super helpful, hopefully I can get my script tomorrow, cheers!

    • +1

I know my rough prescription but never heard of Cyl or Axis,

Contact your optometrist and ask for your prescription. It will (should) include these.

  • +4

They have a very easy return policy. You can change your mind for any reason with 366 days and get a refund/exchange. They'll even provide a prepaid label to but on the box and return, plus they will reimburse the initial shipping you paid.

Link to their refund policy: http://help.clearlycontacts.com.au/questions/36952-Returning…

I have personally had to return a pair that was purchased using the First Pair Free promo and can verify that it's pretty easy and they have friendly service.

  • Cheers, good to have a pair for back-up

  • Hmm, that's a great deal. Does anyone know where I can go to get my prescription in Sydney preferably for cheap?

    • +1

It's free to have an eye test every 2 years and get yr script, if needed. Eg OPSM. If you had it done in less than 2 yrs, they will write it down for you if you go in and ask.

      • I have read somewhere that if you have your eyes tested with someone like specsavers - and don't buy from them - they ask you to not come back again - can they do that, seeing that medicare pays them?

Also - which ones are good in Melbourne to have eyes tested through medicare?

        • I just got mine tested in Specsavers on Hunter st.
Had 2 checks and the optometrist was a good man. Gave me good info and I gave me a copy of the prescription.
They bulk bill to medicare so all done for free. Medicare bargain, YEAH!
Now to buy some funky glasses, if I can find my way back!

Are the three options worth it (i.e anti reflective coating, scratch free coating and UV coating?)

    • +2

I'd read on a thread on reddit recently started by an optical assistant (I assume in the states.) He said the anti-reflective costing is worth every penny, the UV coating is absolutely worthless and I don't recall what was said about the scratch free coating.

      • This one?

"Anti-Glare Anti-glare is a must have! However, cheap anti-glare is AWFUL."

Nice read but couldn't find much about the other coating options.

        • Guess there is only one way to find out if clearly contacts use "cheap anti-glare" coating on their lens

  • Till when this offer is, I do not see this on the site.

    • Ends 31st July

  • Does not include lens upgrades and lenses outside +/-2.0

    Why??

SpecSavers don't charge you more for higher-powered lenses, and they're the kings of add-on charges.

  • I cannot see where you enter the code. They want to charge me over $300.00…..

    • +1

On the last past of the checkout process where you enter your payment details.

  • I asked my optometrist for my script specifically so I could do this sort of thing… But my prescription has an "Add" section, but the clearly contacts form doesn't. Do I need to adjust the Sphere numbers?

    • DOH! You have to click on READING GLASSES to get the Add input elements

  • Is this working for anyone?

I'm using the code 'FPF' at checkout but it says "coupon code was not applied".

    • It works. Your probably trying to use the coupon on an ineligible frame. On the frame page click "Description" and it will let you know whether or not it will work with this code.

      • Doesn't work for me either. The description tab doesn't mention anything about using the code on any I have tried (all from the promo page)

  • my right eye is 2.25, would i notice it if i got one with 2.0?

    • I tried putting in like -1.0 then gone to the checkout page, put in the coupon, went back to edit and worked.

Not worth the deal if you don't get the correct power.

      • +1

Both eyes -2.5 worked for me.

        • +2

thanks for the reply guys, btw the shipping is now 3 dollars cheaper so its even a better deal.

  • Repeat deal

  • Good deal even with my script outside of +-2, thinner frames are more comfortable too

  • I wish the sunglasses lenses were part of the promotion too (discount still applies but still have to pay $99 extra for 'tint'), but great deal anyways. thanks!

  • +1

Great! I just ordered. Postage was only $6.95. So a pair of glasses for $6.95 is fantastic.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Doesn't work, expired?

    • Check description for any note about not included in the deal.

  • Wasted an hour getting order right only to get an email a day later saying I don't qualify.
    Not impressed

    • +1

      What was their reasoning?

    • I too am curious, what happened?

  • All they said was
'According to our records it doesn’t seem to qualify with the Terms and Conditions of our First Pair Free promotion.'
I signed up for new account but assume I must of used them a couple of years ago with different email but same address??

    • Hmm, I thought you only had to use a different email address to qualify.
Hope my order doesn't get rejected.

      • Changing email address will let you input the code but they will cancel the order if you have ordered previously with them, even if it was awhile ago. Happened to me too. They appear to have a system which compares order details (name, address, prescription) not just your email id.

        • +1

Use a variant on your name and maybe try using AusPost Parcel Lockers - worked for me.

        • @Chuppa:

I just tried yesterday - ordered under my uncles name - different order name, different postal address, different payment method only the prescription was obviously the same. That order got cancelled this morning.

          This is the message

my prescription is -2.5 and -2.75 but my order went through. I ordered on July 11th, and I got an email today saying they have shipped and my order should arrive around Aug 1st.

  • Nice first post! I just ordered mine with the scratch resistant/UV/anti-glare bundle (19.90 for all 3). Total cost including shipping was $26.90!
    Deal still running, ends 31/07

  • Thanks OP. Just placed my order with anti-glare lenses..16.90 total..
