  • Is this keyboard basically the same as the k300 except with a numpad instead of trackpad?

    • Do you mean the K400?

I have the K400R and it looks like the keys are different and the keyboard has different sizing. That one is great for HTPCs, I only just ordered this one for my main PC so I hope typing will be better on this.

      • Sorry yeah, K400..
I also have one for my HTPC, but my gf plays diablo sometimes with it from the couch. Was wondering if the keys were different on this thing to make it a better keyboard as the k400 is a bit small…

Same price as back in June 2014.

    Good price nonetheless.

    • Got this keyboard last week during Dicks 20% sale for 15.98, went back up to 39.98 one day after sale. Still a great price now.

Nice and compact, short depress keys, nice front finish, the spacing between keys may not be everyones cup of tea though.

      • I found the spacing between keys too big and the keys themselves too small. The arrow keys and the Windows key are painfully small.

It is a compact size if that's what you need.

This is not to knock the deal, just offering an opinion on the keyboard itself.

  • Having an extra dongle kills this thing. Cannot companies simply use Bluetooth, a ubiquitous technology?!

    • +1

It uses a Logitech's unifying receiver so it is great if you plan on using both wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech (as I am planning).

But I agree bluetooth would be better for laptop usage.

    • Desktops rarely come with Bluetooth.

      • iMac's do. And the default BT keyboard has no numeric keypad.

There is a Mac keyboard with numeric pad, but it is wired only.

        Rock - meet hardplace.

        • This was not designed to be a Mac keyboard.

Any keyboard will work with a Mac, just like it does with any Windows machine. What's your point?

          iMac's do.

This was not designed to be a mac keyboard. It was designed to be used with PCs, where desktops rarely come with Bluetooth.

That is why it does not use Bluetooth.

          Pretty clear isn't it?

        • My point was If it was to be designed with BT, it would be then compatible with many more devices. The devices that already have BT (i.e. tablets, laptops, TV dongles) PLUS desktops when they use the adapter. I vendor would probably sell more units too.

I think you've got that the wrong way round. Virtually everything has USB, not Bluetooth. Using a USB dongle means it's compatible with many more devices.

Don't forget, this is a cheap PC keyboard with a Windows key. What makes more sense if you were a manufacturer?

          A) Design it with a Bluetooth chipset and licensing fees which costs more than using a basic 2.4GHz radio system, resulting in a Bluetooth keyboard that will not work on the majority of desktops and TVs out there. Remember, iMacs and high-end smart TVs are not the majority.

          or

          B) Produce a non-Bluetooth keyboard that costs less and will work on everything - PCs, Macs, desktops, laptops, TVs, TV dongles, game consoles .. anything with a USB port. It costs less to make and you'll sell more of it. AND, produce a keyboard like the Logitech K811 which does use Bluetooth, and charge more for it.

Logitech isn't a charity - they'll do what will make them the most money.

  • Hmmm… I like the placement of the direction keys. Could be very useful for one of my games.
    Bought! Thanks OP. :)
