Samsung 8KG Front Loader with Airwash WF8802RPF - $699 with Samsung Rebate (+$150 NSW rebate)

170

$799 at the Good Guys - $699 with rebate, $549 with $150 rebate from NSW Governments (4.5 WELS).

A true bargain if you are in the market for a washing machine.
The older front loader models that only spin to 800rpm and 1000rpm are only $50 cheaper.
RRP on this one is $1299 and cheapest I can see it elsewhere is $1059 here

Sorry don't have a pic but its on the front page of their new catalogue (August 4 to 17).
I got it for $737 with bargaining and then you get $100 back from Samsung so $637.
I actually ordered a Samsung 7kg Front Loader 1000rpm (no airwash) from The Good Guys last month for $687 ($637 with Samsung rebate) but it hadn't been delivered yet so when I went in yesterday, I got them to cancel it and bought this one instead. So at the end of the day, this newer model worked out at exactly the same price for me ($637) and I have gained an extra 1kg washing capacity, 1200rpm spin cycle and the airwash feature.

Samsung online rebate form is here:

Not bad. You can get a further $150 rebate for ppl in NSW (not sure about other states) because it has 4½ star water efficiency rating.

  • I'm interested in getting new washing machine, but what holds me is where can I get rid of the old one?

    • Some retailers will take it away for you, since it's worth something to them.

    • Check out http://recyclingnearyou.com.au/ and find a recycling centre for whitegoods. Call up before you go, though, to make sure it won't cost anything!

I'm quite happy with my $399 Stirling washing machine from Aldi. (Only $249 after the rebate!)

  • How does it work for you? Does it compare to water?

    • It still uses water for washing. However, according to the product page, I think there is a wash cycle (Air Wash) that doesn't use water but heated air. Not sure how much I'd use it, or how effective it is, but it might be handy for some items.

  • Thats is a great bargain - im going to try and bargain my way in goodguys also to see if i can get a similar price too. What store did you purchase yours from?

  • Is the $799 price from Good Guys advertised anywhere? It'd be great if a price match (or even better) can be obtained elsewhere.

  • WA rebate finished in 30 June 2009 and there is no extension.

  • Where can you get 100 rebate ? From Samsung website?
    When is this offer ends?

  • Hi,

I just got rid of my Samsung washing machine after 2 years of hell. Broke down 6 times in the first 7 months and Samsung refused to replace it. It is now out of warranty and costing me around $200 to get fixed every time. Samsung should stick to LCD TV's. Rather get a BOSCH. A quick google will reveal the terrible reviews for Samsung washers.

Despite your warranty period being only two years, you should've have reminded Samsung of your warranty rights, as specified by Australian legislation. Being a washing machine, it is reasonable to expect it to last a lot longer than the warranty period of two years. There is a Choice article on your rights as consumer.

Choice.com.au reliability data doesn't indicate that Samsung is an unrealiable brand for washing machines either mind you.

      Percentage not needing repair
      All machines (7000) 90
      Bosch (328) 97
      Miele (432) 95
      Simpson (754) 92
      Samsung (237) 92
      Fisher & Paykel (1805) 90

      Whirlpool (697) 88

      • While consumers may seek remedies from manufacturers, the legal responsibility lies with the seller. See here.

Make it their problem if you can.

  • I ordered one today for layby!
    $528 (after rebates :)

  • Is there only $100 rebate for Melbourne, or is there a way we can get the $150 rebate as well?

    • mind if you could point out where did you see $100 rebate for Melbourne?

Watch out for dodgy Good Guys salesmen trying to offload different machines with this offer…

They ran out of stock at Auburn, and tried to sell me an "identical" model, without the LCD display and a white door instead. Looking around it's worth about $500 less retail… so if they try to get you with this, tell them you wanna wait for the real deal!

  • Paid for mine at The Good Guys tonight. The model number for the one with silver door and LED display is WF8802RPF, as the OP wrote. The one with white door and no LED display is WF8802RSW. The Good Guys Chatswood have both in stock now. I also paid $47 for delivery (as I also bought a Samsung 244L fridge which costs an additional $5 to deliver).

I wish to say thanks to Alister the OP for coming up with the tip. I was very close to buying a Samsung WF7708N6W1 for $799 before rebates ($50+NSW$150), which is a smaller (7kg) model and lacks advanced features such as air refresh and only have 800 rpm spin speed. Best online price I could find for the WF8802RPF is $975 (the Electric Discounter) and they can't go any lower. I ended up paying $770 for the washer before all rebates ($100+NSW$150).

    Have fun bargain hunting all.

    • By the way, the website to claim Samsung washer cashback:
      http://samsung.promotionscampaign.com.au/washingmachines/

      Only four models qualify:
      WF7708N6W1 $50
      WF7700N6W1 $50
      WF8802RPF $100
      WF8802RSW $100

      (finishes 30/9/2009)

If you do not need the WF8802RPF, you might want to try to bargain for the Samsung WF7708N6W1… It starts at $798 (Harvey Norman listed price, the $648 is after $150 NSW rebate), but I think you could well bargain it down to around $400 after all rebates (check out The Good Guys).
