      • woah.

        • +6

And it still tastes like crap. Ok maybe not crap but it's definitely not coffee as we know it. :)

          @widden:

I had the displeasure of having a latte from them recently, and it tasted like instant coffee!

          Never again.

They are no more expensive than Gloria jeans, Starbucks cup sizes are bigger than Gloria Jeans, you can't compare a small to a small.. A small at Starbucks is a easily medium at Gloria Jeans..

      • +2

meh with coffee I tend to compare quality not quantity. On that front both GJ and SB barely rate as coffee at all.

  • Look for the "Get Email" button in the bottom right corner of the "14years" post on their FB page. I was confused for a bit.

  • I wish there was one in Canberra!

    • They are better than Gloria Jeans.

But do you want one just for the offer?

Urban Bean, The Espresso Room and other places are better.

  • didnt get the email…. nothing on junk box too

    • mine's not arriving either

This is like getting stabbed for free with every gunshot wound.

$6 RRP cups of coffee, bad customer service, crap coffee.

    vs

$3 in any other better coffee place.

    BARGAIN

    • Where you getting a coffee for $3? Must be a black espresso.

        Seven Seeds in Carlton
        Axil in Hawthorn
        Auction Rooms in North Melbourne
Brother Baba Budan in Melbourne CBD
        Naked Espresso in Melbourne CBD
Artichoke and Whitebait in Monash University Clayton
        Figjam Cafe in Carnegie

All make great coffee for approx $3.50

        • So not $3. My local makes a small for $3.50 too :)

        • @gokhanh:
          Not small, medium/regular.

      • There are plenty of coffee shops here at North Sydney selling small for $2.5, medium for $2.8/$3.

      • coles Express 80cent coffees all styles.

        • +2

          All styles = Blend 43 pushed through a machine…

        • @gokhanh:

          Really?

        • @t_c:

Slight exaggeration perhaps, but what do you expect for 80 cents, really?

    • +1

Don't talk garbage, yes you can pay $6 for a coffee anywhere if you want a jumbo cup size.

    World's worst coffee.

    • But….won't someone this of the free wifi :P

      • +1

        True.
This was the worst tasting wifi I got in Paris last year.

  • I never get mine made nicely from there ;(

  • +4

Tastes like water filtered through dirt. I can make better at home with my EM7000. Support your local coffee place.

    • +1

Only if your local cafe makes decent coffee, a lot of local cafes make coffee almost as badly as Starbucks.

  • I don't mind their frappucinos.

  • What happened to all the starbucks in Adelaide - they all disappeared

  • +5

Starbucks is a franchise coffee shop that don't know what the real taste of coffee is. Anyone can make coffee there, but not a professional one like local shop.

  • i only drink green tea frappucino there.
    its taste alright.
alot of shops closed in australia - not making money for sure

  • +2

Starbucks sell warm and cold diabetes, not coffee.

  • For $2.90 for a small one in brisbane city is sooooo overpriced!

  • does starbucks australia wrought corporate tax laws like it does in other countries?

    • "Starbucks Australia - like Google and Apple - has also come under fire for failing to pay its fair share of tax in Australia. The company paid no tax for 12 consecutive years, blaming royalties paid to its foreign parent."

      • +1

        typical. another reason to avoid.

  • +3

    Not my cup of tea.

    • +1

I think you all need to wake up and smell the coffee (not starbucks!) :P

  • +2

They have been careful not to display their overpriced coffee prices on their website. I reckon Australia in general is now too much of a coffee snob (me included) to turn to Starbucks for their daily fix. I reckon I can speak for Melbourne and confidently say that local mirco/specialty coffee shops rule the roost when it comes to coffee.

Btw, Starbucks sold off all their franchises to the group that owns 7-11 in Australia.

Apparently, when Todd Carney was photographed doing the "bubbler", it was in a starbucks bathroom just after having one of their coffees. He was trying to wash the taste of it out..

Had the misfortune of trying a Starbucks "coffee" once at Glenelg SA. Their tall size is quite big, but size doesn't matter when the ratio of coffee to milk is all wrong. The latte likely only had a single shot in it and tasted like lukewarm milk. After complaining, they put another shot in and I still couldn't taste it. Needless to say, that Starbucks isn't even there any more.

Best coffee I've had in Adelaide is from First Pour on Melbourne Street who charge about $4.50 for their largest size.

    • Best coffee in Brisbane - Alens Espresso. -George st -across from the Supreme Court

  • If you haven't driven Starbuccks out of your capital city (besides from 3 franchises), you're doing it wrong.
