LG G Pad 8.3 GPE Wi-Fi $259 Delivered from Expansys

240

These just keep getting cheaper. And now it's the Google Play Edition of the LG G Pad 8.3.

I've got the non-GPE of this tablet, and thought it was a great buy at $298. At just over $250 this is a steal. Seriously considering getting another.

One note though, it's not in stock at the local warehouse, so shipping will be from the US.

    Nice price, and it's black!

      Excuse me?!

      • +2

once you go black, you'll never go back

      Typo. He meant size.

  • Oh this is tempting! I can't decide whether the Tab S 8.4 LTE is worth double this.

    • This one does not have LTE, you have to decide whether you like the screen more or you hate the touchwiz more. I am looking forward to have a play of the Tab S at the shops today, I can live with Samsung bloatware, so the Tab S is fine with me, saying that, I already have the Nexus 10 and Nexus 7, and I did not find anything really different between my Samsung Note 3 with them, except that the Nexus 10 have been updated to Kitkat 4.4.4 while the Note 3 is still on 4.4.2.

      • Agree. If you use/compare multiple Android tablets made around with similar hardware by the major manufacturers you start splitting hairs and making points of minor differences. Software skins and versions would be the main difference.

Oh this is tempting! I can't decide whether the Tab S 8.4 LTE is worth double this.

I had the same dilemma, I went for the galaxy Pro 8.4 for $304 (with the eBay 15% off thing). Amazing 2560 screen, albeit, LCD V's the AMOLED of the S.

lovely battery capacity, can last for quite a while!

Great price for the GPE. Yet keep in mind that Nexus 8 is coming in about 3 months.

Hi all, Just to confirm on this we will be dispatching orders from tomorrow. DHL deliver 3-4 days. Stock will be limited at this price and we are already taking a lot of orders. Cheers

    • hi rep, can you do free shipping on other items on sale. thanks was looking at todays deal . and a xiaomi mi3.

      • +2

Hi Bunjara, We do not offer free shipping at this time. Best bet is to sign up to our Daily Deal email alerts (top right on website) or check out our Weekly 10% price drop pages. that might help offset the costs on some of the items. Cheers maybe ill see if i can run a Xiaomi deal in the coming couple of weeks

    • Thanks for the clarification Rep.

      • No probs - cheers for the post :-)

    • I got an email saying that it will have to ship from EU to Asia, so is the 3-4 day estimate to my door or to the county?

    • Hi rep. I got the same email as qube below explaining that my order needs to be transferred to Asia from Europe, but your comment says orders will be dispatched tomorrow and DHL will deliver in 3-4 days. I placed the order based on your comment. Any follow-up information about this?

        Hi Ragflan & qube..

Our Customer Service team will send those emails out when an item is not in stock the local warehouse as standard response.

The stock is arriving tomorrow(maybe this afternoon) according to current courier information and will be 3-4 days to your door from the dispatch day which should be also tomorrow.

        Hope that helps

        Cheers

        • Thanks for clearing that up, rep!

  • Ordered one, hoping for the best.

damn, really bad time to implement a "must ask permission from partner before $200+ purchase" policy. Wonder how many they have left?

    • +3

Break it down mentally as two $129.50 purchases… no need to ask then.

Apparently GPE is worse. No LG optimization.

  • It is not stated on the webpage that this is not Australian stock, so ordering from an Australian company (.com.au) with an Australian contact number might give the impression that this is Australian stock if it is not explicitly mentioned, which it is not, and the rep has not mentioned it.

If it is not Australian stock does this mean non-complying adapter and no local warranty from LG?

I believe given the recent fiasco with someone dying from a non "tick" charger, companies would be ensuring their stuff was approved, and maybe this will be.

Is this the requirement (taken from an approvals webpage):
"As an importer or distributor of electrical products, you are legally responsible to ensure product placed on the market is safe and meets all the required Australian standards. It is not legally defendable to blame the overseas manufacturer or assume they have obtained the correct approvals based on approval markings on the label.

Testing of a wall mount USB power supply involves compliance to numerous electrical standards, including AS/NZS 3112 for the insulated pins, AS/NZS 60950.1:2011 or AS/NZS60335.2.29 for the power supply, AS/NZS 4665 for energy efficiency and ACMA requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility."

    Anyone know the answer?

  • Hi Skyva,

This is a US edition. The is Google Play model was only ever released in the US. It comes with a US plug to USB charger. We will supply a adapter to suit AU sockets.

We also supply a 12 month warranty - not from LG but from us.

We will soon have open box images on the website so you can see what comes etc. I hope this helps

It would have helped if it was marked a US version. I see that some of your products are marked but not this one.

In relation to the chargers, do you agree that this applies:

      • Hi Skyva, we do our best to make sure all products are represented fairly apologies for any confusion.

In this case as said it was only ever available from the US so we didn't flag it as any different. Have a look here on Ausdroid to get the full picture on the Google Play products.

        http://ausdroid.net/2014/07/17/google-play-edition-retired-d…

"Without ever reaching Australian shores, Google recently removed a number of Google Play Edition devices from the Play Store in the US. Thankfully, some of those devices are now available to purchase directly from Expansys Australia."

As promised the open box pictures are here on our FB page - you can see the USB plug

  • What does retired mean?

    • Google recently removed a number of Google Play Edition devices from the Play Store in the US.

only $320 at local Harvey Norman, you should go inside one of their stores and check it out

  • Mine arrived at dhl office today in a padded envelope. They stuffed up the delivery so I had to pick it up, which I just did.

Unopened box, looks good so far, still charging through US pinned charger (1.5 amp output) and white plastic adapter supplied in envelope with device. Not overly happy about charger but I have some spare from other devices. The adapter has no markings indicating it is approved for Australian use. I would assume not. Will leave adapter at office so kids don't play with it.

  • Anyone got any advice on cheap cover for this? Be good to get a bumper style holder.

  • So im abit weary about using a US/AU adapter, so my question is can we use a 2.0a charger? The one that comes with the LG Pad is 1.8a

  • Hi Megatallica, That should be fine to use. It might charge a bit faster. Expansys.

    Hi, ExpansysDoesIT

I've only just registered, but can't send you a PM, so commenting here.

I've had a horrible experience trying to buy a LG Gpad GPE from you.

My first attempted order was a debacle - I paid with paypal and then your website errored and didn't process the order - It took me a week to sort out that you weren't going to send me the tablet and to get a refund.

My second, still current order is apparently on hold, according to some idiot in Hong Kong on your customer service because allegedly Expansys doesn't know if I've paid for it!

I don't know why there is confusion. This is a separate order with a separate payment… Do you guys have problems reconciling paypal payments against orders?

Basically, I want the tablet, but Expansys seems to be doing everything you can to NOT SELL ONE TO ME!

    I have an order number!
I have a shipping confirmed email!
I have a DHL tracking number!
But apparently you haven't even processed the order, let alone sent it!

    Can you please fix?

    Thanks, Michael.

    • Hi Singletrack, Do you have an order no? Ill get the CS to contact you directly. I can't seem to PM you

      Cheers

      • Hi Expansys,

I can't PM until my account has been active for more than a day, but you can email me at [email protected]

        Cheers.

        • Confirming that I'd prefer to keep my order number away from public view, can you please email me.

          Thanks.

      • Thanks for sorting my (your) problem out.

Once again, it seems that using Ozbargain seems to be the best way to get good customer service - maybe worth noting for others.

        Cheers.

        • Thanks Michael, Glad to hear its all sorted…and apologies for any inconvenience caused

I would still advise others to follow the usual routes for contacting our Customer Service Team. Whilst we do monitor Ozbargain etc we are not always across all offsite places and might not get notified - whereas all incoming queries will get dealt with asap.

Reference your order number, name etc and email address and the team can find and fix any complications.
