LG 32" 32GS95UE-B UltraGear Dual-Mode OLED 4K Gaming Monitor $1399 (RRP $2399) + Delivery ($0 C&C / In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

240

Just picked up myself! Beast of a monitor, was eyeing it over a year ago at this point but couldn't justify spending $2000+ on in.

Was actually 1499 a few days ago, dropped even further to 1399. So far, LOVING it.

Enjoy!

work monitor and a tax write off

You have 3 days to make it work!

        • Invoice date is all that matters =P it can be 29/30th…

          • @scud70: only for 2day depreciation and 50% WFH, $1.98 only.. lol

productivity will go through the roof!

        • Exactly! …it's great for displaying those line goes up graphs…

        I just bought a 98" Mini-LED work monitor myself

        • +1

Perfect that means you can easily fit from A to XFD in excel! …. that's easily a few thousand times of added efficiency right there.

        • haha do you actually claim that? I mean if you are a movie producer or something but I can't imagine the look on their faces if you are just an admin.

          • @itsmoe: I might claim 30% use. I can and do use it for work sometimes when I want to sit on the couch

            • @ruddiger7: Fair enough. Good luck bro and enjoy the TV.

    • It’s on sale

    • Buy now, deal with it later

yeah don't buy this monitor for creative work, might be good for gamming though.

    • Buy a 4K 240Hz OLED that's under $1000.

      • Which one?

        • -1

Dell have a 27" one, which represents an updated panel with proper text clarity… look into any fan noise and coil whine though.

Samsung G8 deals won't be far behind, then there'll be others.

I have owned this monitor for ~7 months, everyone is free to ask me any questions about it

    • How is it for office based work like excel and world documents? Are you using it on the mac and if so, if the scaling ok?

      • +3

Text clarity is okay, not the best not the worst. Looks slightly better on windows but very usable on Mac. Very usable for office work but not ideal by any means.

The WOLED sub pixel combined with the Matte finish makes text blurry at any scaled resolution (some notice it, some don't - personally I do) for the most part. Definitely won't be as sharp as a 4k 27 or 32 inch LCD, but will be sharper than a 1440 27 inch LCD.

On the other hand I get no eye strain using this monitor. Have used a glossy 27 inch QHD QD-OLED previously and I always got eye strain from that within a couple of hours. The WOLED panel combined with the matte finish seem to greatly help in this regard - which it you're working with this for hours every day is very nice to have.

I also have ~700 hours on time with not a single sign of burn in

        • thank you for your response. I currently have a 5K 27inch LCD monitor and was looking to get something a bit larger which I also can use for gaming. But most of the day it will be used for my day job. Gaming would be 5 hours a week tops vs 40 hours a week on office based job. The text clarity and text blurriness will def bother me.

It appears monitor is not for me.

@jameswilson: Yeah there's also a dirty screen effect on solid grey colours so that should be kept in mind too.

You might want to look out for a good deal on a 42 inch OLED TV (C4, C5, S90D, S90F) as I've found the 55 inch C4 to be surprisingly very clear text wise, even quite close up - to what I understand is primarily because of the glossy coating. Alternatively the new glossy WOLED (32 inch) that Asus will be releasing soon might be the way to go.

            • @tries: I will keep an eye out. I feel 42 will likely be too big for my use case. Will check out the 32 inch when ASUS releases it.

              • @jameswilson: unfortunately seems like there's tradeoffs no matter what you choose in the market these days. Everyone's eyes behave differently and you won't know what panels/coatings will cause eye strain for you personally until you use them.

                • @tries: I have a glossy 27inch 5k and thankfully no eye strain. I do think that a matt display will show less glare from the window light.

But you are right, we are spoilt for choice but every choice comes with its own tradeoffs.

That is why it is helpful that others here share their experiences to evaluate what is best for their needs etc.

        • may I ask what is the 27inch QHD OLED that you used before?

        • In windows have you used cleartype or whatever it is in the windows settings? Helps a bit. (I have C3 42" OLED)

          • @The One Demon: I have used cleartype, as well as mactype, neither noticeably help text clarity on this monitor.

The only thing that helps this monitor (and all 4k monitors) in terms of text clarity on Mac OS is turning off font smoothing.

    • What's the differences between this variant vs 32GS95UV ? Thank you

      • +2

I believe the variant you listed does not have pixel sound and has more traditional monitor speakers - which are much worse. The monitor on this deal has some of the best monitor speakers you can find (but at the same time they get crushed by basically any traditional external speakers - they lack bass)

    • Can you hear the fan? That's the only thing that makes me hesitate.

      • +2

I barely recall hearing it running and even when it has done so, its been very quiet iirc

        • Cheers mate

    • Does it have a 3.5mm jack to be able to plug into speakers? How do you manage the sound output?

      • According to rtings it does.

      • +1

Sound output on the monitor is controlled via the toggle stick, unfortunately there's no remote with this monitor (you can still adjust the percentage of the selected volume in windows like normal). Personally I just use the speakers as is, as stated before they are far superior to other monitor speakers, just lacking bass.

There is a 3.5mm jack on the monitor, I know it supports headphones - I assume it supports speakers too.

  • Need a bigger one, 38 - 45, any decent deals go on those sizes?

  • I love me iMac 27 5k monitor, is this better than that or worse?

    • +1

Apple monitors are generally better for productivity work, especially for people who value text clarity and colour accuracy. So, it's for a completely different target audience.
This LG monitor is better for gamers due to the high refresh rate. I'd also argue that for now, OLED is better for gaming in general, because there seems to be a small amount of text fringing with OLED monitors. Gaming also reduces the chances of burn in due to less static windows.

      • Thanks! I use my Mac to work and planning to get a 32 for gaming plus work.

  • its only 32" zzzz

  • only if there was 10% of on ultimate GCs..
