Hi guys,

Been looking for a decent headphone and found this. It seems to be the best price around (from an authorized dealer and Aus stock)compared to Headphonic, PC Case Gear, Store DJ.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but being closed the soundstage isn't as good as say AD700s and therefore is slightly worse for gaming right?

    • +1

Correct. If people are buying these for multiplayer gaming they will be disappointed due to the tiny soundstage.
At the price they're great for music though, it's what I currently use although I may be upgrading soon.

  • so get the A700 for gaming?? - whats a good one that does both??

  • Isn't there a new edition of the M50 out now? This is probably them trying to clear it out or something.

    • the 50s and 50x? they have exactly same sound and build quality except ATH50 does not have detachable cable while 50x does.

      • I also think the 50x has better pads as well, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

  • is it good for just listening music??

    • +1

Yes. I'm using them right now, and if you're going from a set of cheap headphones it's like a revelation for your ears.

    • They are actually very good for listening to music but those ~$80 UE6000 are better value (almost half price of these M50).

i thins it is not good price.

this product sales on $116.99 @ ebay

Do you have a link for that? The cheapest that I can find on fleabay are $139.95 incl delivery (apart from a 2nd hand pair for $108) http://bit.ly/1kB9YzV.

well grey import products are always cheaper, but warranty and return will be a big issue.

      • +1

Hence the reason that I only searched for local (Aus) sellers with a local warranty. In this case they have a service centre in Brisbane.

  • I would rather be looking for deals on the ATH-M50x. Once all stock is sold these are going to be discontinued.

Can anyone recommend a good 7.1 pair of cans? Does not have to be a gaming headset (I don't need a mic). I want it to be compatible with both my PC and consoles. Quality is most important. Price secondary, although if a $400 pair is only marginally better than a $200 pair, obviously I'd prefer the $200 pair.

  • It is a good headphone, but not at this price.
