$50 off Ergobaby Carrier Original @ Baby Bunting (in-Store Only) ($119.88)

60

The Ergobaby Carrier Original is stickered at $169 in-store (and online), but scanned at $119.88. Receipt attached.

This was at Baby Bunting Narre Warren, but I'd try your luck at your nearest store before travelling. Ozbabybargain is the next cheapest I could find at $135, so this is a fair bit cheaper.

I've done a fair bit of research and it was down to the Ergobaby or the Babybjorn Carrier One. Both of are considered to be with hip dysplasia friendly (we've actually been suggested a carrier by our orthopaedist for our mildly afflicted baby girl to help her get over the condition). The cheapest price on the Babybjorn I could find was $180, so this was an easy decision :)

  • I'm confused, so it us actually $15 off because Ozbabybargain is $135 right?

    • Either your reading comprehension or my posting skills need work :o) Baby Bunting's price was $169, but I got it in-store for $119.88. ~$50 off, yes?

      • He means since it can also be had for $135, it's actually $15 off. You posted the link to $135

If you haven't bought one yet take a look the Beco Gemini. Similar to an Ergo in that it doesn't support kids by the crotch but does front carrying forward facing. That was all our daughter was happy with after a couple of months and we had to get rid of our Ergo.

    • We got a Gemini, and it's pretty excellent. Comfortable enough that you can wear it for a couple of hours with zero back pain. And the little guy loves it.

But it will make you look like a massive hipster.

  • Definitely recommend an Ergo for any new parents. We used one for both our kids. They were happy riding in it until they were about 3. Good resell value as well :)

Two things shock me about this post:

    1) a shop called OzBabyBargain is ripping off the OzB name; and

    2) someone carries their 3 year old kids in an Ergo carrier!

how old their kid is and why they choose to carry them isn't really any of your business buddy.

Try going for a 2 hour walk in the bush with a 15-20kg toddler and I bet you'd be a lot less shocked at the idea of a 3 year old in a carrier.

      • I have a 16kg, 3 year old boy (hasn't been a toddler for over a year). And yes I go for bushwalks with him. He's out and about exploring at every opportunity. There's no way he'd stay in a carrier for 2 minutes let alone 2 hours.

Glad hear your kid (who hasn't been a toddler since he turned two) keeps a pace that you're happy with for that long.

If I go for a 2hr bushwalk with my daughter (who's 2 1/2 and still a toddler), the 30 odd minutes she spends in the carrier makes everyone's day more enjoyable. I even carried her in a 25L daypack once :)

Everyone's different. Get out more and meet new people, you might be a little less easily shocked.

one thing to parents who are considering carriers, the ergobaby original can be quite hot due to the thick material, and if you are the type that perspires a lot, think twice about using it for summer.

i got the "Ergobaby Performance Baby Carrier - Graphite Ventus " when it was available for delivery to AU from amazon, and its roughly AUD180 delivered then. It retails here for a lot more. There is a difference betw the performance and the originals in terms of material (mesh) and function (no carrier bag).. so just make your own comparisons if you decide to get the performance one.

    • Nursing angel has them on special sometimes, I purchased from them at $169 delivered. At the moment the performance carriers are $189 delivered.

    • We have the performance and it worked well during summer!
definitely the bloke friendliest carrier, in terms of fit, ease of use and unisex appearance.

  • Last time I checked, about a month ago, Ergo baby released a new design that allows the baby to be forward facing so it looks like stores are trying to get rid of old design.
I have the old one. I took it when travelling to Singapore, such a life saver.

    • A while ago when I was researching, some people suggested not to carry babies forward due to the spine not being supported in a natural way. Not sure if the new design would help.

      • I've got one of the new Ergo baby 360 carriers. It's my first carrier so I don't have anything to compare it to. But for what it's worth, my wife doesn't use it because it's too "complicated". I suspect that's more to do with my wife than to the carrier. But each to their own. It is a little bit involved in putting it on and placing your baby inside. A quick YouTube search should get you a video on how to put it on.

Also worth nothing that Ergo baby carriers need an infant insert if your child is young, small, and/or doesn't have good neck control.

don't know about 360s. The regular ones take a bit of getting used to, but once you know what you are doing they are fine. You can strap a kid on one handed on the go… pretty much.

This is true and I bought the inserts and preferred not to use them. I just kind of cuddled the baby and supported myself -and used the carrier as a prop to stop getting a sore arm if that makes sense.

I have nothing but praise for Ergo carriers. Seriously our best purchase full stop babywise.
Got mine second hand and still going strong after 4 kids.
And yes I've even carried a 4 year old in it on a rare occasion when he was sick.
