  • I got one of these at the eBay sale. It's good at this price

How much are these normally ?

    • RRP $199. Logitech store has em on ebay for $138

    • Realisticly around the $160 mark, so a good price for a great BT speaker.

Are you going to buy one?

Good question. Is jv genuinely interested in buying one or is he here just to judge if it is a good deal or not, so he can neg it if it is not a good deal?

        • SHE!

Very good price for a very good speaker (one that you'll actually use for portability).

  • I've seen the white ones on display at jbhifi and after being handled for a while the white has turned a yellow colour and faded badly.

    • Agreed, although they still sound/work great. My mate has a blue one and it has all kinds of scuff marks on it, but it still works great.

    • the white bit isn't porous though- you can easily clean them up, I got a used one and now it looks as new

Had one for a couple of months. Lovely look and sound but bass is definitely on the flat side.

Really? I've got one and I'd say they're definitely one of the 'bassier' portable speakers.

      • You really need to check out the Bose Soundlink Mini. This UE Boom isn't as bassy as you'd expect from the name.

I have seen review comparing both Bose Soundlink Mini and UE Boom, and it says the Boom has stronger bass.

        • @edfoo: What reviews are they? Are you sure you remembered right? I've bought both and the Bose definitely has better bass.

Just check out the comments here:

  • These are great! Good quality sound at top volume. Terrific value at this price

  • Good price but just tested in tgg Joondalup with driven by yello and it's base really fallen flat , compared to dr beats pill which is more expensive

  • It's a decent portable speaker, esp. placed on a wooden table, cabinet or other thing that helps the lower tones resonate. Moreover, you can team up two and get a proper stereo. As for sound quality it might only be inferior to Bose Soundlink, within the same price and size category. But it's far more portable and practical. Beats' crap compared to it.

The Bose Soundlink Mini is much better with lows.

But this UE Boom is much, much better with highs.

So for people who like bass, the Bose would be better. For people who don't need much bass, the UE is better. For people who like nice highs and good lows … neither are good. Sigh!

      • yes, eug is on the money. I have 2 booms and bro has the soundlink mini. exactly the same experience. I chose the booms in the end for the highs, the fact you can link 2 (sounds amazing), bluetooth microphone for taking calls and waterproof/rugged design. Though strangely my heart still yearns for the SL mini every once in a while, but not enough to cross over just yet.

ps I have the black ones - all the white ones i've seen in store demos have looked pretty grubby so try to keep em clean if you get the ones from this deal.

According to Meghan Trainor, it's "all about that bass"

  • These are good, I have one in blue. Good for camping etc. but I also use mine in my bathroom to have music while I shower.

  • Brother owns one, it's really good sound for a little speaker.

  • Brilliant speaker - my wife loves hers!

  • The very fact that it is a VERY portable bluetooth speaker infers that you shouldn't expect the sensitivity of "audiophile level" sound that a more permanent system could put out. As pizzaguy and eug have indicated, it depends on how much bass and how much portability you want.
I'm more than happy with my unit. When I let it loose in the (large) gym, people are amazed at the output when they discover the source is "that little thing on the floor?".

    • I was just thinking, since Bose has the lows covered very well in their SLM, if they just added a tweeter it would be the ultimate speaker. But then it might steal sales from their more expensive speakers.

I wonder if it can be modded. Hmm!
