The quality looks worse than those fake Samsung s5 phones and the screen looks like doodoo when it isn't on.

i got a Jiayu g4s recently (similar specs to this) and it has been great so far. the Chinese smartphones will be the next big thing because they give a lot of bang for your buck.
Chinese smartphones have been out from 2 weeks after the first iPhone. I doubt they are the next big thing
Except they're finally making ones that aren't crap.
Maybe not the next one, but eventually they will catch up with those big brands (so does the price). How many parts inside those phones are made from China?
They need to focus on the software side, besides the hardware.
Take a look at Xiaomi Mi3, worth comparing.
I got the Asus zenfone 6 in the recent deal as well. It does everything I have asked it to so far (except a few apps that don't behave on x86 chips) - and it was ~$270.
newman is not a crap brand, this brand has for more than 20 years history.
They started with small mp3 player, i remember i had one of their old small size mp3 player in 2005, and still working today in my car, because it has built in FM transmitter to play music from FM radio.
they started focused on hifi and media player in 2006, now into smartphone.
so yes i know this brand, and personally believe the manufacture quality shouldn't be too bad

Good price given the specs. Recently I bought a infocus m310 as a spare phone which is made by Foxccon. One thing I like about the m310 is that it has the led notification feature. The feature is missing in many Chinese phones. You guys should check out that phone as well. Foxccon is the assembler of the i devices and they are promoting their own brand in focus by cutting the prices of mobiles close to cost price and sell them to the public on tmall.

Recently got approached by a customer who wanted me to source them a phone, I don't think I did too badly…
There are cheaper Chinese phones out there than what I recommended but some of us figure if we are saving so much we might as well spend that little bit extra for a Western known brand name to ensure quality.
By Western known brand, most of them are assembled in China anyways (well, except LG, Samsung). The difference is their QC and the design.
