Might be of interest as well, Qantas Sale - $1103 (SYD), $1129 (BNE) to Honolulu, Travel 01 Feb 2015 to 22 Mar 2015 - http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/international-fligh…

  • How about Perth…

Might be worth entering destination for the prices above - I was hoping this was a ticket price to mainland USA avoiding immigration at LAX…

    • +1 for the truth about immigration/customs at LAX

Sorry but these prices aren't remotely special unfortunately. Hawaiian are a great carrier but it's cheaper to fly to mainland USA than these prices. Halve these 'specials' and you've got a bargain, wasn't that long ago that Hawaiian were offering $599 deals return.

    • Yeah, especially when you had $999 return to LA just last week. This is a disappointing deal.

    • Last time we flew Hawaiian (2011) to Honolulu we paid $531 pp return w/ 60kg baggage.. great airline, great service..

Not sure I've seen prices that low since then though.. so its hard to say whether this is or isn't a bargain.. but it doesn't seem so..

      • It's about 30% less than what they are currently charging, so it's a sale, just not as good as the past apparently.

  • Not easy to get that fare - I have found pretty much all dates I have looked at come in at well over $1200 return ex Syd

  • I believe it has been a long time since there was the $531pp deal, I haven't seen that for a while. But if I'm wrong let me know. I'm keen to know if they offer it regularly or if those days are now a distant memory

  • Jetstar do pretty competitive rates on this route. It is a long time to be in a Jetstar A330 but totally worth it. I paid ~$500 one way around this time last year from Adelaide, which was booked at the last minute. Two benzos as soon as you hit the seat and then wake up at about 7.00am in sunny Honolulu :)

  • Do they fly anything newer these days? I recall review from a few years back where Hawaiian Airlines had rather grubby, dated aircraft with worn-out seat cushions and yellowing plastics from the 70's tobacco era

    • Hawaiian fly newish A330's on the SYD-HNL run, we just did it in June/July when they were offering A$1290 return to Portland from Sydney. Here's a review from earlier in the year http://www.smh.com.au/travel/flight-test-hawaiian-airlines-2…

They have a great situation using HNL as a hub and spoke centre, where they fly in from BNE and SYD, AKL and Asian ports, then onward to SEA, PDX, OAK, and more see http://www.hawaiianairlines.com/publishingimages/routemaps/m…

Many flights to the US mainland synch well with arriving flights from Oz to HNL, we had 3 hours and the flight to JFK was around the same. Clearing Immigrations and Customs was very easy compared to the zoo that is LAX.

If the price is right I'd use them again without hesitation,

      Cheerz Wabster.

Worst airline I've ever flown. Staff are rude. Planes are so out of date. One TV per cabin, what a joke.

    Avoid at all costs.

    • 64 kg weight allowance isn't too bad.
