Great one. Thanks. Have contemplated joining up before just in case I need to use one of their cars at short notice (because the in-laws are down and we can't all fit in the car, or I've bought some large items at Bunnings that I can't fit in the car - etc etc) - but haven't fancied paying the $50 before I have a real need. Will probably sign up the wife and in-laws too.

Just FWIW: Bunnings will lend you a trailer (for free) if you can't fit it all in the car :-)

…I may have purchased a $30 door to get use of the trailer before.

Did you return the door afterwards?

          no, he left it ajar.

      • I know - thanks. I don't have a tow bar.

You can get free membership as an ikea card member as well. Springvale, VIC has vans parked there.

if they want more customers, they really need to do more attractive promos e.g. flexicar gave out free 1-yr memberships that also included free credits, and so did greensharecar a couple of years ago via groupon.

Silly question, can anyone make out whether this is this free for 6 months only? or free indefinitely? (Obviously not including payment for use of the service)

    • +1

You are avoiding the $49 joining fee. You pay the normal hourly rate when you use the vehicles.

Thanks. What I was getting at was, if I fail to use the service, will I get charged some kind of ongoing annual fee.
It didn't seem to advise of this and have already signed up.

That said, thanks for the reply.

I didn't see anything about an annual fee - I doubt there is one. They would have had to make that pretty clear when you sign up. I'm awaiting my joining pack and will have a look at whatever comes with that.

          @belbo:
Mine arrived yesterday in Eastern Metro Melbourne.
          Signed up Thursday 7th August.

        • @belbo:

There is a catch..Your joining fee is $49. This is only for A YEAR. There is an annual fee.
After 365 days you will be charged $49 for the following year. Please read the terms and conditions. It's clearly mentioned.

          It reads as:
"You have selected GoSTARTER, your credit card will be charged $ 0 instantly via our secure payment system
$ 49 will be charged on the anniversary of your joining date each year"

  • Used it yesterday and it still works!

  • Simple, on the second year threaten to go to GreenCar share or any other service and they will waive the $49 for you, worked for me, now on my second year for free.

  • Just a note that I successfully used the code and received $49 off so the first year's subscription free.

    • Can youbuse this for any car?

      • Yes.

        • thanks, will save this for the future. got popcar for free to use in the mean time.

  • If you make a friend with a senior they can put two other driver's on their membership. This will mean no annual fee ever as well as cheaper rates then standard.

Perhaps this should be a new deal or hack?

    • I think it warrants a new deal. do the seniors need to have a driver's license?

      • Ah sneaky! One would think so but perhaps they didn't pay their lawyer's enough so this possible loophole may have slipped through….

  • Code still works

  • Thank you, just used :)
