This is part of an official Sony giveaway that goes with the Sony Xperia E1 Optus prepaid mobile where you can claim online for a free 2014 official replica FIFA soccerball (RRP $30, its $40 on eBay). I think its free postage as I didn't see any payment details in the Sony claim form or terms and condition.

If you don't like soccer then sell the ball to get a bigger discount off the mobile phone price.

Big W is currently selling the Sony Xperia E1 Optus prepaid for $99. Its listed on page 23 of Big W's current clothing catalog:
http://www.bigw.com.au/bigw-catalogues.html#view=catalogue2&…

The official Sony giveaway website is:
http://sonyfifa.com.au/footballs

Eligibility criteria:
- fill in the online claim form.
- purchase Optus Prepaid Sony Xperia E1™ Handset from an authorised Optus retailer or www.optus.com.au
- have the IMEI number of the E1 (on the box)
- have the sticker from the Xperia™ E1 for unique claim code
- claim before 30 September 2014.

  • Just a heads up though. This phone is god awful slow and the bloat doesn't help it either.

    • I'm not sure if you are confusing this with last years Sony Xperia E. The Sony Xperia "E1" was released this year. There's a huge speed difference between the graphics accelerators (Adreno 200 versus Adreno 302 series)

From synthetic benchmarks the Sony Xperia E1 is about 80% the speed of the Moto G:

An official Android 4.4 KitKat update should be coming from Sony which would boost performance a little.

Guess its possible to remove Sony's bloatware by installing Cyanogen but that would void warranty.

      • My bad then. Didn't notice there was a 2014 refresh of the old model.

My Xperia Go is crap as well! Very disappointed I can't believe Sony allow their name on these products. I've been a Sony fan for thirty years, I would be cautious to purchase any Sony phone ever again.

Appreciate the effort in posting the deal but my advice would be to save $89 and just buy a ball for $10 at Big W

    • Budget phone = budget performance.

What does the Ezibuy model (in the thumbnail) had to do with the phone and the soccer ball?

    • She is the Sony lady who's packaging the soccerball.

Just kidding. The thumbnail was automatically selected by the system. My original URL was linked to the Big W fashion catalog so I guess the system selected the best photo. I don't mind, sex sells.

I've changed the URL to link to the items specific webpage instead of the catalogue page.

If I had a soccer ball that looked like that I'd play with it all day long!
