Tried Cancel Kogan Order Prior Notice but they still went ahead an shipped it

Hi I placed an order with Kogan on the 29.7.14.
I brought this http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-s5-genuine-spare-…
Cost me $68.99 AUD in total with shipping included $59 for the batt and $9.99 for shipping
I thought they had the free shipping deal but it was finished when I ordered.
On Thursday 31st July 2014 I sent an email requesting to cancel my order.Got an email on the 1st Aug saying I "requested a CANCELLATION of your purchase, we simply need to check that your order has not yet been dispatched."
Well on the 2nd Aug I received an email saying my order has been shipped,
Im very upset they still went ahead and shipped my order even though I had requested them not to.I already gave them prior notice but they still went ahead.
There are many reasons why I wanted to cancel my order firstly I was under the impression It would be shipped straight away.
If I had known it would take this long I wouldve just purchased the Samsung Battery from ebay where it only costs AU $49.31 plus AU $7.50 for shipping. So $56.81 total . http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Samsung-Galaxy-S5-Extra-B… are heaps of other places where i can get a better deal than kogans
What should i do in order to get a refund for this unwanted order ?
I paid via Paypal

If they have shipped it then there's nothing you can do. Kogan uses Toll Group as their courier, Kogan themselves do not handle the product and cannot do anything about it once it's on Toll's delivery network.

You have no choice but to receive the item. Still you can organise for the item to be sent back, but its completely not worth it in your case:

    http://www.kogan.com/au/returns-policy/

For all goods other than Kogan branded Products, if for any reason You are unsatisfied with Your purchase, You can contact us within 14 days of taking delivery, and organise to return the Product and receive either a store credit or refund of the purchase price of Your Product (excluding initial delivery charges and a re-stocking fee). The re-stocking fee for these Products will be 15% of the original purchase price, or $35 (whichever is lower). Where a product listing specifically excludes returns under this policy, no returns under this policy will be permitted.

Im very upset they still went ahead and shipped my order even though I had requested them not to.I already gave them prior notice but they still went ahead.

You contacted them far too late, you let three days pass before you called Kogan to cancel the order. This is not Kogan's fault, they are simply doing their best to ship their items on time…

  • Don't accept it and it will go back :)

    • It might go back, but Kogan will implement their refund policy as above.

  • God I hate kogan after their 20% off eBay deal.
Bought an iPad mini, took them 3 weeks to ship it… How can they be such a popular company when it takes them 3 weeks to even ship products.

To make matters worse toll lost the iPad and I'm still in the process of trying to get it…

    • ouch for your iPad, good luck!

    • ships from HK to avoid GST dunnit?

      • HK company to dodge tax too ;)

Macbook Air Kogan were $700 and Dick Smith were $795… but Dick Smith has to charge GST so it was $875 vs $700, big difference.

How can they be such a popular company

Cause Ruslan is a self-promoting marketing genius.
None of the hype is generated by customers, it's generated by the Man or the Company.

In this case though, Kogan aren't at fault.. They shipped quickly and as a result couldn't cancel the order. It's the exact opposite of your situation!

      • Maybe its just their eBay side of things.

I do agree that in AzNdudes situation it isn't kogans fault as it had been quite some time since the order was placed. It was probably packaged and was already awaiting shipment when he requested to cancel it.

Its a hard trade off because people want their products as fast as possible but they also want to be able to change it after its been ordered. The one company that stands out in this scenario for me is ASOS where you can cancel your order within 30 minutes of placing it with no fuss online with the click of a button.

  • I actually tried to cancel the fake rubix cube less than a hour after I ordered then days later they shipped it anyway. 3 hours or 3 days, I don't think they give a toss.

    • If this is true then that raises an interesting point. The first sentence that is.

  • Op… best to make sure you want what you order and check other prices before ordering also.
Two days after ordering would be too late with just about any supplier.
If suppliers held orders for several days in case the customer may change their mind you would not be happy with that as well…

In future, make sure that when you click that buy button that you really do want to buy it.

  • My warranty claim/replacement for my Note 2 was confirmed via chat but then I decided I'd try see if I could get them to send a Note 3 and I just pay the difference. They managed to alter the order for me by contacting the suppliers so I guess it's just bad luck? Mine was in within the same day though.

  • Hi thx for the responses.
Yeh its my fault I should've cancelled the order on the day i ordered.
Ill make sure Ill shop around first before buying. Kogan was the first result when I googled Galaxy S5 batteries. So they did good marketing to have gotten me to buy from them in the first place.
Ooh well live and let learn :)

FYI an Australian business cannot charge you a restocking fee

    http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/marketplace/consumer/guara…

i guess this where grey imports become a problem

    • From your very link (as the OP's product wasn't faulty)………..

In most cases, a business cannot place fees or conditions on a refund or exchange. This includes restocking fees.

They can only place fees or conditions on a refund if they:

aren’t legally required to give you the refund
      and
clearly displayed these terms in writing, either in store or on your receipt.

As the OP had a change-of-mind Kogan (spits to the left) AREN'T required to give a refund and DO state their re-stocking fee policy (see the second posters response).

I also truly hate Kogan. Very similar problem. I ordered a fitness band and accidentally clicked on large band instead of small. I then sent them 3 urgent emails within minutes of receiving the order confirmation asking for the order to be amended. Next day I was told the order was already placed and could not be cancelled. I phoned, sent several more emails, got totally stone walled and they shipped the wrong item anyway. This type of customer service is appropriate for North Korea not Australia. Needless to say I will never buy anything from Kogan again, have opted out of their emails and am making all my friends aware of just how unhelpful these people are.

    • grr sorry to hear something like that happen to you as well.Seems like their only interested in $ and the staff are too lazy to follow up on any order changes and intercept them before they are sent.Mind if i ask , How long after you placed your order did you send them an email to tell them you needed it changed ?And also after the email where they said the order was placed and cannot be cancelled did you get the confirmation that it was already sent ?
