Hi ozbargainers,

A friend got some wii u controllers from Harvey Norman for $25 (see attached picture). Not sure if they were on sale or clearance. Anyway, I went into my local Big W and showed them the above picture and they price matched it (Big W Golden Grove - got the last one)

I have uploaded my receipt. Hopefully other Big W (or maybe EB Games) will also price match.

Ps. Big W were selling it for $68 and last time I checked EB games were selling it for $57.

    Saw this on whirlpool, tried Big W, both EB Games and the two JB's in brisbane cbd with no luck. According to the guy at JB they buy them at $40 each

      There are 3 JB's in the city but sounds like none of them would go for it either anyway.

      Shame, would of grabbed one at this price.

      "The guy at JB" has no idea what price they buy them for. Retail assistants can see a "cost price" which is the price that those at head office don't want their minimum wage employees to go below for friends, family, staff, and your average thrifty shopper.

      Actual cost price is not available to be viewed by regular staff members.

      Source: I worked in 3 different companies that sell electronics, and they were all the same. Actually one of them if you chose the option to "write off" the product, say if it's damaged or lost, it would actually give you the true cost price!

        Or, he knows exactly what is paid because he does the invoicing instore himself/herself. Scanbacks and lower off-invoice promo pricing etc do not change what you normally pay for an item. Since the invoice is directly related to GST payable to the government, the cost prices are generally accurate.

      Just an update… I cant replicate it at all… been to a lot of shops at Perth already but cant seem to get them to say yes.

      I dont blame them though… waaaay below cost price just from estimation.

      If someone's at SA and wants to buy it for me you'd have my undying appreciation though :P

    I finally found an eb games that would price match this. Tried jb and big w but both said they couldn't come close to the offer. Eb games did but I think I got lucky. I'm in Victoria if anyone wants a Victorian receipt.

          I went to JB hi-fi in Brighton Vic and the sales staff member I spoke to refused to even look at the receipt! he said that he had to look on the ebgames website as they only price match advertised prices.

    EB are just a bunch of idiots. Having to run price matches through their store managers etc. Surprised some matched it tbh.

    Currently I don't own a Wii U (complications arose before when I last tried), but how well does the Wii U Pro Controller work with PCs? I'd like to try it for say Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed…or even Dark Souls (if/when I get the game).

      Just Google it.
      You can buy a special receiver just for that, or you could use/get a bluetooth doogle and use that to connect to the pc.

      So far, only the vibrate doesn't work, which is understandable.

      xbox 360 controllers are the most commonly supported pads on the pc. You should also be able to find them fairly cheap due to the console nearing the end of its life.

    These controllers are bloody awesome! Hell nice fit in hands. I charged mine when I got my wii U 2 months ago and I haven't had to charge it since!

      Yea I just bought my wii u a few weeks ago. An impressive console (even better now with Mario kart and upcoming games). Can't wait to try out these controllers and finally have people over. Needed controllers since you can't use the gamepad as a character for Super Mario…

        You definitely can? I've played three player SM3DW on my Wii U with the gamepad and two Pro controllers.

          I think the gamepad works with SM3DW, but it doesn't with super mario bros (free download with mario kart). The gamepad can only be used in "boost mode" and not as an actual player, when playing multiplayer. Maybe nintendo's way to get more people into buying controllers?

      Damnit I can't get mine to charge! I have to use it plugged in via the USB…. Am I missing something obvious? I plug into back or front of the Wii and lights up but never seems to 'charge'

      I believe it was gepps cross. Apparently my friend's friend also managed to get gawler big w to price match. I think it also depends on the person you talk to. Hopefully someone lenient…

    Couldnt get the deal at eb games at indro. The guy said happy to match the deal but had to check if local hn had it in stock. Came back out said they did but had it marked as a different price so he couldnt.

    I'd be very happy with one at that price, but I'm not going to try given there's no real price match here given seems like a one-off reduction set in motion a chain reaction of bargains for a select few.

    Will keep eye out for next sub-$40 deal.

    Checked my local Harvey in Brisbane and they had them for $34 on clearance. Not as good as OP's but good enough for me. Can post a receipt if anyone (in Brisbane) is interested.

    Just went into Munno para EB and asked for a price match they told me it's a fake they called Harvey Norman and gave them they code and it didn't match on their system.

    It was nice of them to do so when the price is so low i don't know if it would even match the wholesale price. Don't get too sad if they say no because it is a huge price markdown. As long as you were polite to them and they have been polite to you well you've done all you could!

    I thought I'd try my luck at the local Harvey Norman Aspley. They had one controller left at $68. I asked if they would match the HN Loganholme based on the docket provided by user qwicko. The staff member agreed and I got it for $34.
