    • Mine is plagued with hot pixels at ISOs higher than 100. The focus was never great, but mine still focuses. I haven't shot with it in years and stopped taking it around with me after getting an RX100 (mark 1) which eclipsed the D40x in ever aspect apart from focal length.

Are you giving the body only or giving a kit lens? I was considering giving a kit lens, battery and charger along with it. That way it's a complete package and might bring joy to someone. I have 0 use for it otherwise and would like a mirrorless APS-C, but I also want manual video modes which the A5000 lacks.

Can you keep us updated when people start to arrive?

  • +1

    Sure

    • How's the line looking now? Thinking of heading over soon if it's building up..have a camping chair I've been waiting to use for something :p

  • That leaves the Northcote store or the Annerley store for the early turnout on the 7th =). I'm guessing Northcote

    • It wasn't Annerley

  • Can someone already on the queue, tell how many people there??

  • how do these things normally work? Do they call you in one at a time like at the GP or when the door open there's a mad rush to see who gets in the door first?

    • there is a guy who is collating a list. once you're on the list you are ( i expect ) pretty much guaranteed.

  • I just got to Northcote - approx 23 in line including myself.

    • Thanks for the update, has it reached 30 yet?

      • It's 30 as of 3.10am

        • Yup I was 31 by 2mins apparently=)

  • Anyone who can update with the numbers at Canterbury??

    • As of right now. 21

  • 27 at Canterbury now

    • Still 27.

  • Can someone please let me know how many are at Northcote now?

    • 30 came at 3.10 and 31 at 3.12 and got rejected. Now we are all 30 and just waiting!! Some are outside at DCW and a few of us are In our cars parked by the store keeping warm. If you are palling on coming to Northcote I suggest you stay home, there are 30 of us here now.

      • Got rejected? Have they got security there? Are they checking to make sure those lining up have actual DSLRs?

        • I was number 31. They seemed like a good natured bunch and were diligent enough to have made a list with the 30 in line so I trust they all would have actual dslrs on them, plus I wasn't waiting 6 hours for a technicality. Well played and enjoy your new cameras. I"LL skip burshing my teeth next time=)
          p.s anyone in need of a working e300 or 30D..just joking=)

  • Just got to Northcote - number 30.

Hopefully my counting's right or it's going to be a disappointing 9am..

  • 30 at Canterbury

  • 30 at Annerley, just before 4:00am

    • Thanks for the confirmation on Annerley… I thought this would be the case. Had better things to do last night and I'm still fond of my 350D so I thought I'd sit this one out. Had it been an A6000… I probably would have been there since work finished on Friday. OK, maybe I would have gone home to shower first.

Hope you guys all enjoy the camera :-)

  • Oh boo. Was just about to head out to Canterbury now. Guess I'll go back to bed.

  • Congrats guys, enjoy your new cameras.

  • So anyone here got one? How was the experience?

  • -2

ppl sure are desperate for freebies… 3:10am in the morning?!?!?

    • 945 at night in my case.

    • not freebie. $1+price-of-old-camera

    • People that say 'ppl' have no concept of earning money. Maybe if you thought it was a PS4 '(or probably a fisher price kinder set would be more suited), then you would think it's worth waiting too.

6 hours for a $500 dollar anything is a damn good wage, regardless if you had to actually work during that time or not.

I got too drunk and decided bed was needed more than a camera I would end up using as much as the camera I would have traded it in for - at least it would have made a nice conversation piece on my desk.

  • Thanks op for sharing this bargain.

  • Why hasn't at least 1 person commented that they got it?

    Was there a problem?

    • +1

I got it and it's awesome. Gonna test it out more today! Totally worth the wait and the $1

      • +2

Yep, me too, and my two mates that suffered the cold. Definitely worth the six hours wait.

    • Agreed with the fine folks above. It's definitely a bit of an adjustment navigating more menus to acess some functions but other than that it was well worth the wait.
