      • +12

Damn you SE, trying to win me over with annoying song lyrics. Is there any boundary you wont cross to make a sale :)

      • +2

Alright SE and your witty animated movie reference, I caved and am now down $479.

        • Thanks bro, i hoped that the lyrics didn't repeat through the whole night - that will make me so guilty :P.

          @ShoppingExpress:

No…but keep the movie references to yourself in future, my wallet will be forever grateful :)

I'm tempted, too. Just need a laptop to go with it.

      • +8

Would you like me to help you on laptop? :D

        • What about some mechanical drives for laptops?

Everyone who jumped on the Horize deals will be shopping for them too.

There is something coming out on tomorrow's newsletter related to the 2.5" 500GB, so suggest you have a look at the newsletter :)

haha no worries, i'll pop you a link when it's up :).

        • @ShoppingExpress: Yes please!

  • Just don't ask for a tax invoice, from my recent experience they'll just ignore your emails. >:(

    • +3

Don't the tax invoices automatically get emailed? I think you can also sign into your account and get a reprint from the website if memory serves me right.

    • It comes attached to the order receipt email you get after placing an order?

    • +6

      Hi flumpf,

Not sure if you are referring to us, but if you are certain it is ShoppingExpress, please pass me the ticket id so i can have a look.
As for the tax invoice, all your invoices can be downloaded once you logged in to your Shoppingexpress account so hopefully that can resolve your immediate issue.

      Cheers
      SE

      • Thanks SE, we've crossed messages with the one below, which explains the situation better…

        • …and obviously I am sure it was you. "Your Shopping Express order has now been dispatched". :)

    • This was an eBay purchase from them. I received a PDF packing slip, but no tax invoice. Regardless, two polite emails (as they were), one dating back to last week, shouldn't just be ignored. Loved these guys before this.

      • Please drop me the order ID/ticket ID. I'll have a look and get you the help you need.

        Cheers

  • +1

Nice work SE !! Got one ! :)

  • noob question, are these SSD's compatible with laptops?

    • Yes they are. The mSATA ones will vary though, as some laptops do not come with mSATA slots. If you are not sure, go for SATA.

      • Thanks Rep. So the current laptop has a sata slot (1TB 5400 rpm) and an msata slot (80gig). Would i be able to replace the sata slot (hdd) to a SDD from here?

        • +2

Yes you can - that is what most people do.
Some who wants extra storage will either replace the mSATA or source a 5.25" tray for the Hard Drive (provided the laptop have a Optical drive slot).

        • +2

If money was no problem I would probably do both.

          Probably a 256gb MSATA and a 1TB SATA SSD.

If you only could do one, I would probably…

Check how much room my OS and apps are taking on the MSATA, if not much room. Upgrade to the largest MSATA you can afford.

If MSATA has ample room and you simply want a super fast large storage pool that isn't much smaller than your 1TB 5400 drive, I would go with a 1TB EVO.

          Another couple of options I would consider;

          1TB MSATA…1TB SATA SSD

or for a wicked storage beast (SSD/Normal HDD combo)

1TB MSATA…2TB Seagate Slim external (rip the drive out of the enclosure and replace the 1TB 5400 drive you have currently

SE, do you think it likely that the N54L's will come back on sale anytime soon?

I heard that they are now dwindling in stock due to HP only making the newer G8's… but I really want a N54L for the $230 they've been on SE before.

    Let me know :)

    • I heard that they are now dwindling in stock due to HP only making the newer G8's <== As far as i know, that is correct. N54L deals will be less and price will go up in the coming months.

      Cheers

          @ShoppingExpress:

          You're mending my heart, SE :D :D

        • It's ok, they've said this before and then gone hard with a sale a few weeks later. No need to panic just yet. :)

        • @salem:

LOL. Personally i hoped you are right, so I can keep offering them out to everyone :D.

        • +1

          @ShoppingExpress:

You better hope so, Microserver deals is one of four cornerstones on which you built your business right?

          1) Microserver Deals
          2) SSD Deals
          3) Nuc Deals
          4) Trifeca Deals

The whole place comes crashing down without the microserver deals….be warned people!!!

  • +1

OMG I really don't need another spare SSD, but the price does look good for Samsung Pro!

  • Hey all, I'm building my pc atm and I'm a little stuck on which is better, the extreme II or samsung evo's? (Read around and certain websites such as this http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/SanDisk-Extreme-II-240G… point to the evos). What are all your views?

    • +1

If you are comparing with the plaim evo's then the obvious advantage to the Extreme II would be the 5 year warranty.

If you are comparing with the Evo pro, either would be fine.

I would probably lean towards the EVO pro only because I think Samsung will more likely than Sandisk to be around the full length of the warranty, should the need arise.

      • thanks :)

        • Also Samsung evo sounds so much better than sandisk

  • +2

256GB PRO only costs $17 more than EVO 250GB now. No point buying EVO anymore. Plus you get an extra 6GB. So tempting.

    • +1

Agree, small price to pay for extra couple of years warranty too!

    • +1

From most reviews I've read the speed improvements of the Pro over the Evo seem small enough that they wouldn't be noticed in everyday use. Aside from the additional warranty, doesn't seem to be much benefit in the Pro?

      • +3

The Pro being MLC also makes it more durable compared to EVO's TLC.

        • +1

yes, I don't really trust the TLC chips.

        • Is that based on some kind of negative experience, or just what you've read?

  • +1

Bought!!! Saves going to MSY for the 120GB!

  • Does anyone know if I can fit the "Samsung SSD PRO 840 Series 256GB 540MB/520MB MZ-7PD256BW" http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/samsung-ssd-pro-840-se… in my Dell Vostro 1320 laptop? Currently have a factory 320GB SATA drive. Thanks

    • I would say yes, as long as it's thin enough to fit (7mm), and the 2mm adaptor to fix a thicker 2.5 inch drive space.

  • It's nice to see price from a local source coming down and being a step closer to competitive when comparing against amazon. If this is maintained who knows I might start sourcing parts locally again when the time comes. Good deal.

  • -1

Wtf can order only 1 ssd evo 250gb ( same price as msy )

  • microsd 128gb can you do any special on those?

    cheers

    • I don't believe SE do any 128Gb micro sd.

If you do a google on; SDSDQUA-128G

They are roughly around $140-$150 from quite a number of places.

  • Dammm. Got the Evo 250 GB from last sale and it is $5 cheaper now. Would have got the Pro 256 GB one if it was on sale earlier. I would recommend the Pro 256 over Evo for this price.

  • +3

Kinda keen on the 512 Pro, the only thing that is bothering me is that you could literally get 2 256s and save $41.

  • +1

Can't add Samsung PRO 32GB SD to cart.

    • Same. No luck for me either.

    • Unfortunately that model is sold out, will try to get more for future promo.

      cheers
      SE

    • nvm

  • Rep - bought this yesterday - when will they be posted ?

    • +1

If you bought yesterday, it should be posted by today.

      cheers
      SE

  • +3

Thanks Rep. Have been sitting with my finger hovering over the mSata deals for a few weeks now. This clenched it.

    • You are welcome - Enjoy :).

  • +1

Just came back to say thanks the to Rep. Ordered yesterday at 12 noon and package arrived today. You guys are awesome!

  • +1

Dammit rep, I've been constantly refreshing the product page in hopes of it showing OOS thus giving me an excuse not to buy. Today is day 2 and I've somehow placed an order for the Pro. Sigh. Maybe you should only do 1 day sales. 48 hours is tormenting.

    • +3

On the contrary - we've just extended the deal till this weekend for ozbargain :P.

  • +1

    Thank you, rep.

Never be discouraged. Your deals & attention are what keeps people with SE & not Mwave (shudder)- who previously reduced price + free shipping, on an item I ordered, one day earlier, which hadn't shipped (took days after)— and refused to reduce it to a long-time customer, purchasing regularly, since 2005?! I should post the whole thing so others are warned.

Needless to say- I don't subscribe nor will I purchase from Mwave, ever again.

    Cheers

    • thank you :)

  • +1

512gb Pro - SOLD! Thanks, SE!

    • thank you 2~

    Ordered! Thanks SE :)
