    Star are one of the better Chinese brands, my current phone is a 2 year old Star N9776, never missed a beat.

      Not just Star phones, any whitebox mobile phone can be preinstalled with malware. I also made a post a while ago on non AOSP ROMS such as Mokee that contain the aforementioned trojan and I discovered it masquerading as the Mokee App market on my LG device.

      Basically any sideloaded, non-Google application that comes with China-droids have the potential to be a trojan or malware.

    Good find.. Know if it can work as: Sim1 3G850 Telstra/Sim2 3G850 Vodafone, OR perhaps that's 850 2G(Telstra)..would be brilliant if X2(4G) were available for a $30 premium.

    Would it also be an effective idea to ring English division at China customs if need be to move things along /or it's a case of taking "these gambles" before or a refund process.

    Integration (stunningly absent) between each system of customs control + commercial vendors, really should be instated. Imagine how effectively streamlined things could be with pro-active, efficient handling. Like "Customs CN / AU intervened in this our transaction, you do not need to investigate or action. Refund (/offer) sent accordingly". <yep dreaming>

    My wife has been using the W450 since Dec last year from geekbuying for AU$99 delivered. Correct about malware so flashed it with stock URiver ROM. It has been all good and solid since then. Added a 32G expansion card with link2sd. Her GPS won't work but there are tips on how to get it working. She complains about camera quality but I think it is ok. I am using an old STAR N9589 and can't find a single fault with it.
