what kind of step down transformer did you use?
I bought a 500W one from these guys:
It was $38, including shipping. They don't seem to have the 500W unit in stock at the moment. You could buy a bigger one, or find an equivalent on eBay.
Check other recent kitchen aid deal people are discussing it over there

This model is superior. Bigger capacity, and more power. But it's a refurb, and I wouldn't count on any warranty.

unless they have changed their insides or their designs, we have 3 15-20 year old models going strong, replace a few things here and there.
They are fully repairable and not throw out-able

[Classic NEW deal](https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/156506) on for 277USDA 450w motor isn't that powerful. I have a 700w mixer that struggles when kneading bread dough and stops.
Torque is more important than power. My Kitchenaid (similar to this one) has never struggled. I can make Brioche dough, and throw in an entire 250g block of butter, straight from the fridge. Dough hook rips through the butter like it's not even there.
I just bought one, as a surprise for the missus. I think she'll like it, we don't have anything similar, but is this model the top level one? There are so many models I'm confused as to this what this one represents haha
