    Don't forget to check booko.com.au first…

The 30% off only saved me about 5% because other stores had a cheaper normal price…

that's why I mention it in the post - but with the discount BW was the cheapest for the two books I was after, and for me their shipping is a lot faster than overseas sellers.

      • their shipping is a lot faster than overseas sellers.

I was comparing to Booktopia who ship in similar times to Bookworld…

    • I've seen you complain about a lot of things jv… but this is a first.
If you don't want the 5% you saved, I'll happily take your money.

I voted +ve for the deal you mooron…

        I see that you didn't…

  • BW's 30% usually makes it only a little bit cheaper than other sites… but their delivery and service for the massive amount of books and Wii-U related accessories I've purchased has been nothing but stellar. I do prefer them for most books, but I do go to book depository for a few better deals.

  • Thanks OP. Got the New 2015 James Halliday Wine Companion for only $20.13 Bargin!

horrible site to navigate, was a pain to search for the walking dead hardcover 7/8 because their labeling isn't consistent. "The Walking Dead: v. 4" "The Walking Dead: Bk. 2" and book 8 isn't even labeled as book 8, you have to check the issues it include or zoom on the cover art to see, and even then not guarenteed it's correct.

    Also:

Search results for "the walking dead" gives me:

Written in the Blood and a lot of other useless shit.

    I'll stick to amazon thanks.

Use Amazon or Booko for the ISBN and then search that way?

    • +2

You think that's bad? Sometime, I spotted their search engine deliberately hiding result of the cheaper books (probably from oversea). It flashes on screen for a second and disappear. Follow the link from Booko will take you to the actual page and allow you to make the purchase.

      • Are you sure they're not ebooks? Depending on how you search it may cut out ebooks & mixed media by default - only searching for paperbacks unless you tick the appropriate formats

      • Hi Thangcuoi, the only time it will do this is when a book is out of stock. We have about 24 million titles on the site with about 13 million of those in stock and buyable. If a book comes up in the search and then disappears, or appears greyed out then disappears its because the site has clocked it as out of stock with our supplier or the publisher (so it might be out of print) and it takes it away from the search results. These titles may be cheaper because they're the overseas editions but it's certainly not the reason. If we can get any edition of the book in stock then it will show on the site, no matter the price. Hope this helps!

    • Thanks for the feedback SilentBob - we've just undergone a pretty massive site upgrade which includes our search functionality and we're just in the process of getting it back up to speed. I've sent this on to our dev team though so thank you.

    • I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.

awww wish i had this 2 days ago

    I don't think it is a true 30% off. It is 20% then 10%.
    for example:

    20% then 10% off:
    $30 * 0.8 = $24 * 0.9 = $21.60

Where as if you did a true 30% off then it would be:
    $30 * 0.7 = $21.00

So the 30% off is actually not true.
People keep thinking adding percentages together = total percentage, however its not.

That's not how BW calculate it.

They do a total and then two voucher entries of -10% and -20%, so I think it is a true 30% off.

However, they don't actually know how to calculate percentages. My 20% was actually 20.23%, so my overall discount was 30.23%

      • Same here. Definitely not <30%.

      • -1

Mine had an original price of $10.99
and I ended up paying 7.66

        So the saving is ($10.99-$7.66)/($10.99) = 30.3% !!! for the win !!!

(it was $8 something at booktopia though, so not really a 30% saving)

  • Thanks OP. Finally purchased attack on titan colossal edition 1 for only around $46. I am happy.

  • Shame it's books only. I don't read paper books anymore.

Book World is not thing but a scam business, i was drawn to the 30% discount that they advertised 2 months ago just like this, Ordered A book in late june, we are now in mid August, 50 days later nothing , no books no notifications. i emailed them, first they said, sorry we were upgrading our system your book has been shipped, second time they didn't bother to reply, Making a complaint to ACCC, DONT risk it with BOOK WORLD.

    • +1

In fairness, I've bought plenty of things from Bookworld and never had a problem. I had one that was quite delayed (however, it had said that on the actual product page and I had overlooked it) and when I emailed them, I got a reply back within hours.

    • Hi Hamerix, so sorry to hear this - can you send over your order number? I'll take a look and get back to you asap.

  • Even with 30% off, an item I was considering buying from bookdepository it would only be $1 cheaper from bookworld. Not going to bother.

  • Shame, even with the discount it doesn't come close to Book Depository (well at least for the few books I just checked).

  • Oops

  • Thanks OP :-)

  • Expired. I thought it would expire after today.

I sent them a message on Facebook and it got fixed. Good job Bookworld.
