You could pay me. But I wouldn't go.

    • Ditto, but it's a good price for tickets for the fanboys and girls.

      • +6

Saw him open for U2. Was really a poor performance. Kanye was bad, too!

      • Jay-Z opened for U2 in Australia, lol.

        • YES, you're right. My bad, I don't listen to either of their music and he was really, really far away.

  • +23

He called himself a god? I recall Barack O'bama called him a jack-ass.

    • i think he called himself Jesus first… then i assume it escalated to god… O'bama was being PC when he called him that…

would love to see him buy a one way ticked to Mars on that settlement trip thing… although then most of those nut jobs will most likely opt to stay on earth is his going…

    • If you actually listen to the explanation around his "I am god" statement he makes a legitimate point - here the short version- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge33hrlN2Uc - . I dont listen to his music at all. In fact I haven't really listened to music since high school, but yea its good to see all perspectives of a situation.

      • thanks mate but that's working on a premise he has to label himself something… best thing would be not to say anything at all… ;) in his case if he just did music n shut his mouth he'd go a long way to being popular…

he may be douché, but people like Daft Punk are willing to work with him…

Unlike the thief Will I Am… no one wants to work with him… that's why he's here, we're the bottom of the barrel

      • Why is Will I Am a thief? (I'm not in the music loop these days)

Seen him twice at the hordern and at Acer/All Phones with Nas. He has put out some amazing music in the past 10 years (even further back if you consider his production credits with the ROC) $90 is well worth it. Even if you do have to sit through a famous 20min Kanye rant!

    • +14

I'm going to wait for the DVD. And then I'm not going to buy it either.

    • +2

      You saw him twice?????
      Uppercut yourself……

    Uh huh honey

  • +2

Not nearly as good as he thinks he is.

  • Good deal OP… not so crazy about the performer though. +1 for effort

  • +11

If you judge him solely on his music, he's made some excellent albums. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has to be one of the best albums I've ever listened to.

No hate - just a polite suggestion that you listen to more albums.

      • Best album of a generation

          … of mayflies

      • +4

Have you listened to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy?

        • +3

I have listened to it. I made an effort to listen to it due to the hype surrounding it when it came out. I cannot deny that the production is quite brilliant - but those atrocious, droning lyrics ruin it for me. Granted - rap/hip-hop is not my scene. My vote would go in for something like By the Way or Californication by the Chilis, or God Shuffled His Feet by the Crash Test Dummies, or maybe Sigh No More by Mumford and Sons or Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia by The Dandy Warhols. Something that fits on my personal "Greatest Albums of All Time" list is Divenire by Ludovico Einaudi - but that's a different kettle of fish, I guess.

I don't see much point in continuing this any further as this is a personal taste thing. You can't say Twisted Fantasy is the "best album of a generation" any more than I can say it isn't. You can only like what you like, and I can only like what I like. Simple as that :)

        • by The Dandy Warhols.

caught this a while back, loving kexp's sets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hb43K7p-_s

        • @johnno07:

The thing is when concert tickets come up for Mumford and Sons you dont see a whole bunch of hip hop fans jump on a thread and start bagging them out but it seems with hip hop every accoustic folk rock music fan cant wait to jump on and tell us our music is terrible and we need to listen to more albums blah blah blah.

        • @astrotrain: hey kid, some of us have been hip hop fans since before you were even born…. :)

        • @nosdan:

haha born in '78… Still remember my uncles having Beat Street on repeat practising all the breakdance moves and trying to rap. Had Public Enemy "Fear of A Black Planet" and NWA "Straight Outta Compton" when i was in year 5.

Amazing to see how far hip hop has come, I'm not one of those bitter old dudes upset at the state of hip hop today i like the new stuff maybe not as much as i love Nas, Outkast, Common but its all good still good music to be found out there (Kendrick, Action B,Big KRIT, J. Cole etc):)

Yet provides no proof why it's a bad album..

Here's a collation of all the critics deciding the best album of 2010: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/music-critic-top-ten-lists…

        Where's your Taylor Swift at?

        • +1

Taylor swift/kanye, there's no difference. Unless your 13 and enjoy whatever the radio tells you too.

      • +4

As easy as he is to dislike, he makes incredible music. Always innovating, collaborating with and sampling other amazing musicians to build upon and improve their work and never afraid to explore new stylistic territory. In my experience, inability to appreciate the brilliance of Twisted Fantasy or Kanye's career can usually be traced back to distaste towards his sometimes crass / simple lyrics, generally obnoxious behaviour, mainstream appeal or arbitrary dislike of hip-hop or in a word, prejudice. Open your mind johnno07. Take the good with the bad.

  • Where on the compass is Kayne West in relation to North West?

    • +1

A few thousand miles I presume - she's probably back home with Mom

      • +4

        The nanny more likely

    • +5

I thought that was a joke.

Then I googled and learned that Kanye's baby really is named North West.

      lol oh god.

      • Where have you been?

        • +2

I don't read magazines or gossip/entertainment sections of the newspaper, or watch much TV - everything I read and watch is online… so I filter out the rubbish like that lol.

I must be the most unhip 27 year old female. Even you guys know more recent pop culture than I do… lol

  • -1

Yo Kanye, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but you really are one of the worst artists of all time! One of the worst artists of all time!

    • And so say all of us!!!

  • +4

As a celebrity, yes, he acts like and comes across as a pr**k. So some of the criticism is well deserved.

As an artist, no one around comes near him. He is a musical genius. I can't think of anyone in the last 15-20 years who has been as consistent and fresh as Kanye..

Hopefully tickets are still available tonight when I get home!!

    Awaiting the negs.. lol

    • +2

If you can't think of anyone of the last 15-20 years who's better than that - you REALLY need to get out more.

Hell, Status Quo are better - down, down, deeper and down….

      • +1

if they forced shoppers and staff to listen to loops of the same kanye song again and again in one of the largest retailers in the country i'd agree with you. but status quo take the cake for worst of the worst. they are a cancer on their own brand.

    • Can you say Tool?

    • He is a musical genius

The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits

47% off? must have a hard time getting rid of the tickets..
