I giving it a +1 as I am very surprised at the speed of this offer. The new console was only announced less than 24 hours ago. Might go down and put some $$ down for the preorder. Lucky I held out from buying ione a couple of months ago.
Not a bargain IMHO…the RRP is $499AU so $5 off really isn't anything to write home about.
I'm hoping a retailer can do closer to $470 or something or throw in a platinum title or something.

For all intensive purposes, it is actually a (minor) bargain - and it currently meets all posting criteria for this site.
FWIW, I prefer $5 to be in my pocket as opposed to the pocket of someone else. You'll probably find that this will be about the best discount you'll see on the 'slim' until around Christmas.
Kudos for JB to push out a discount so early.
We all know that there is usually a bit of leeway built into the RRP. Also, given that info regarding how other retailers will price the PS3 slim is sparse at the moment (and thus there is little to compare this price to except the RRP), in my opinion, this is not a bargain but more self-promotion/free advertising.

It does meet all criteria, you are correct. But 1% off the price is not what I would call a bargain and I'm sure at many places you could easily talk the price down that much very easily if you wanted.
I'm sure another store will pop up in the next week or two that will offer a more competitive price and if not, then sure go for this JB one but I don't think its a big saving over EB's $499 or anyone else charging RRP.
