It's been a week now when do we get our money back?

    • I got the money back by escalating claim via paypal, took less than 24 hours.

      • Could you please advise us when you have submitted your claim? I assume some time yesterday evening? Cheers.

        • yeah, me too.

1 full week after payment was taken, its still not back on my card.

fraudulent dispute raised with Paypal, as according to WD's terms they should never have taken payment until shipment.

  • Just got an email with a link to provide feedback.

I was burned/cancelled in the previous deal, so I've had a good look around the WD store.

I'm posting here a heads-up for those who might be tempted by the 8TB Thunderbolt Duo (rather than the Live Duo being discussed above).

The WD Outlet is offering an old model (WDBUSK0080JSL) for $800.
    http://store.westerndigital.com/store/wdau/en_AU/DisplayAcce…

Under the general "External Drives for Mac" section, they are selling the current model (WDBUTV0080JSL) for $700, although it is listed as "Out of Stock"
    http://store.westerndigital.com/store/wdau/en_AU/DisplayProd…

The Apple Store is also selling the WDBUTV0080JSL for $700, listing it as "Available to ship: Within 24 hours", with free shipping.
    http://store.apple.com/au/product/HD816X/A/wd-8tb-my-book-th…

I know where I'd rather shop, and its NOT at the WD Store.

    HTH someone.

    "Not Satisfied"

  • Should I buy this? Hmmmm… Well, I can't, I've got no money because 1 week ago for the same item, WD accepted my order, confirmed the order, took my money for the order, then 1 week later cancelled my order with a single cryptic advice "Not Satisfied". No mention of getting my money back sadly…

    So, I guess I'll pass.

  • +1

    Also "not satisfied".
Will be lodging claim with PayPal - thanks for the suggestion.
Will be staying away from WD in the future.

  • Raised my claim with Paypal today and "The seller has been asked to respond by 31 Aug 2014"

Re the newsletter discount, I don't see it saying it's limited to RRP
"Use the coupon code '………..' at checkout to receive 10% off and free shipping on your next purchase at the WD Store."

    • you should escalate the claim straight away and let Paypal make the decision, dont wait unit WD respond.

      • It says "This item not received dispute has been escalated to a claim" already so I thought that was as far as I could take it.

  • +1

I did the same. Escalated the claim. One of the worst examples of customer service I have experienced.

  • I received a cancellation notice a whole week after paying. What makes me particularly mad is the the reason stated for the cancellation is Not Satisfied. Well I suppose that they got that part right, I wasn't not satisfied before but I am now.

Will have to raise a dispute with PayPal to get my money back. Not interested in buying through such an unprofessional company.

Let's say there was 500 customers ordered the 8TB mybook live for $320 last week. The fund was held with WD for 2 weeks before refunded to the respective customers. For a interest of 5%, that is just 5003205% *14 / 365 = $307. I don't think WD delay the refund for a matter of $307.

      • So that rules out profit incentive as the reason why 500 customers haven't received their money back on items orders which WD confirmed and debited for (then cancelled 1 week later). What might be the reason they haven't refunded the money, or given any advice regarding refunds?

    • -6

I think you should go and neg that dodgy 20% deal but not this genuine 10% deal.
I don't understand what you are doing here. :))

      • Why is it dodgy?

        • He might be referring to the "bug" in the website that allow the same promotion code to be used in various items that is not intention to be on sale. Maybe a "bug" should be found by testers, not normal people.

In other words, it is "illegal" to exploit the loop hole in the law?

Is the above statement a law ?

  • Grabbed a 6tb. Now we wait.

  • mine got cancelled too. Paid via credit card around 4pm on the friday.

  • I believe most or all buyers got the order cancelled was because we used a little trick and found out by WD staff?

Remember the OP showed us how to get the extra 20%OFF in the last deal?

While this time we use a genuine promo code from WD which i believe this time 8TB for $360 should be no problem…haha..

    • -1

10% off rec retail only, not promo prices.

      you'll get cancelled again.

  • Looking at the previous $320 for the first time just now. Didn't anyone question the unusual way you'd get the discount? Looks more like someone found a trick as opposed to using the site as intended. Here they give you an actual code and looking at the email the wording is:

Use the coupon code "<code>" at checkout to receive 10% off and free shipping on your next purchase at the WD Store

Nothing about limited to using it RRP only, stated in the email at least.

Regardless, $399 is still a good price because when I look around it's going for at least $550 (excluding delivery). So if you actually wanted the product, more than the deal itself I'd take this without the coupon. I'd consider it risky using the coupon purely based on everyone's experience but this method is much less riskier because you're interacting with the store as they intended you to.

  • Bastards also offer students a 20% discount. Login with a student account to find they jack up the prices by 40% + The 8TB duo goes from $399 to $559!!!

40% incease in price for students!!!!!

    • dodgy. let's see if they deliver on this deal, or whether I join the neg brigade…. it's like Lenovo all over again :)

    • I think the student discount is off RRP

      • They might enforce students to use the 20% discount on RRP. You might need your dad to buy it for you.

Registering a new account might be consider exploiting the loophole, thus order might be cancelled.

  • Bought… hopefully they fulfill this offer or else they are going to have alienated a large, loyal group of customers.

    • Just letting people Know. I ordered mine on the 23rd and received it today. Using the 10% discount. Plugged in and running nicely. Transferring 2TB at an average of 30.5 MB/S (all through gigabit Ethernet) which is a bit slow but to be expected. Slightly warm but well within acceptable temperatures.

  • Succumbed to pressure, partly because I realised that the almost full 4tb x 2 main storage that I have on-board now are Seagate Barracuda's and many seem to think they are unreliable compared to WD.

  • +1

I just received an email for the "20% off promo" from WB - went back to WD, re-added the $399.99 8TB and it's offering it to me again for $319.99

Something is definitely broken in their website if they cancel tens or hundreds of orders then allow the same issue to replicate.

While I haven't received my original 8tb drive, I received the shipping confirmation email, so I'm, guessing its on its way.

    • How does one receive those 20% off emails ?

      • Fulfil an order with them

        • Does the previously cancelled one count ?

        • @fatice: Yes that seems to have triggered the 20% off email for me but I am now dubious of WD Store - also this NAS is no longer available in the store.

    • Hi mate,

Just wondering how you received the 20% off code?

    • Update - I called WD today and they confirmed that even though I received the "shipping confirmation" the item never actually shipped and was never going to ship (because I ordered it from a "scam" website (their own website). They also acknowledged that they had not refunded my money but that would occur. I've lodged a paypal claim.

  • They will deliver this time.

  • +3

FYI - received my order this morning :)

    • From old order or this one?

    • From this one $359??

  • Has anyone who ordered on Friday had any progress since "boxed shipment"?

    • Nope… still boxed shipment.
I figured going the legit way would be fine… turns out it's also not working.

    • Mine now says

      Boxed Shipment
      Quantity shipped: 1
      Quantity returned: 1

Which appears to be an update… however uncertain as to what the last line is supposed to mean considering I have no notification of a cancellation after shipping.

All else fails, they have now provided me with a 20% off email :)

      • What was the email title which included the coupon? And also how long after the shippes email did you get the coupon email.

        • Email title was thank you - take 20% off your next order.

Received shipped email on Tuesday, thank you email Sunday.

They have just today provided me with a refund

        • It is not a coupon, it is an encrypted link. After you click on it, the website decrypts it to WD store link, which similar to the link posted on the $319.99 deal.

You can order an My Book Studio for 10% off ($179.99). Once the order is completed, a 20% off email will be sent to you.

    • +1

I ordered on Thursday and still haven't updated.
I think I will have to cancel it before they cancel on me.
I hope they will ask me for a reason - "not satisfied"
why are you not satisfied? - "wd shop is fraudulent"

    • Mine has shipped now too, it is currently in Sunshine.

      • +1

        I still haven't heard anything…

        • I called them today and they told me.
"All accounts from the online store are being managed by our supervisor."
I think their supervisor must be lacking sleep or something and cause it seems like he/she is processing orders at random.

  • WD My Book Duo, all sizes out of stock.

  • open a dispute on paypal to get your refund quick

  • My order is now shipped…

  • Just got tracking details and is in transit

    Tue 26 Aug 2014 00:05
    Processed through Australia Post facility
    SUNSHINE WEST VIC

    • Same here

  • Received this one today

A refund has been generated for your order as a result of your request,
the fulfiller's request, incorrect address, or a refused shipment.

Little odd considering I didn't receive the tracking email. Guessing it was 'the fulfillers request'

The 20% off email came on Sunday, shipping email was on the Tuesday.

  • Update: Delivered but no one was home to receive the parcel :(

    • Are you in melb?

      • yes

        • ahh, explains the fast delv.

Im in Adel, so hoping mine comes tomorrow.

  • Hi,

I didn't receive the 20% off coupon. Anyone can send me a
code which you don't need to [email protected]? Thanks.

    Regards
    Clement

    • Is the coupon a one off usage ?

      • I think so.

        • What you can do is to get a cheaper unit with 10%, e.g. MyBook Studio (2TB = $140*90% = $126). Once the order is completed, 20% discount offer will be emailed to you. After that, you will be able to get the MyBook live duo 8TB for $320 ($399 * 80% = $320).

Western Digital APAC - Shipping Confirmation (Order #xxxxxxxxxxx
    From: [email protected]

Warning Message: Be careful! This sender failed our fraud detection checks.

Lol, even Hotmail knows the truth about WD.

  • still waiting for refund….

    • same.

  • Now even the 10% code doesn't work. The staff of WD told me it is only
aplliable on wd store but not wd outlet.

    • Pretty much what they told me as well.

  • Called WD…

They said that the [8TB] drives were out of stock and that the restock date was day after tomorrow (29/08/2014). And it should be shipped then.

  • Looks like the 6TB and 8TB are no longer for sale.

  • I placed my order last Thursday. I still haven't heard anything :(

  • +1

Hopefully the 6TB gets restocked too AND I get my money back from the last effort to buy.

Seems it's a better unit than the D-Link DNS-320L which was my alternative.

    • My 6tb from this 10% deal arrived this morning. I didn't try and buy in the 20% attempted bargain.

      • Mine still hasn't shipped… This is pathetic.

      • Despite the current issues I think I'll still get one.

        • It looks like they are not taking any more orders for them. I was going to order one but the add to cart button has gone.

        • Correct, but
"They said that the [8TB] drives were out of stock and that the restock date was day after tomorrow (29/08/2014)"

Hopefully they get the 6TB back in stock also.

        • @scottb721:

          back in stock

  • Mine arrived today without any drama from WD.

    • Was yours a 8TB purchased for 319.99?

  • mine says "Boxed Shipment", I guess they are restocking it…hopefully I get a newer model!

    • Do they have updated version ? or just firmware ?

      • +1

I've just called WD, they are restocking it. If the old stock has run out and they are no longer making it, then you should get a newer version altogether.

    • It should say "boxed shipment" for everyone.

      • +1

Correct. Did for those they cancelled too.

Wonder if the restocks will still be at the promo price.

      • some people have got them already

  • Still waiting for refund.

    • +1

I received a shipping confirmation but no actual shipment - today I called WD on their 0011 800 (international) number and was told - sorry we cancelled your order a week ago after we confirmed we shipped the item but have not yet refunded you.

      FFS these guys are unethical.

      • Was this for the $320 order or the $360 order?

  • A question regarding this as I just had a NETWORX alert go off for exceeding my daily data.
When transferring files from my PC Via router to the My Book Live, does this actually use data (upload and download)?

    • Nope. If its on the local network, there should be no external data usage at all.

EDIT: Networx measures everything. Find a way to exclude the ip address of your wd live on networx.

      • Thanks for that, I did shat myself as I have 100gb/mth connection and thought transferring several tb if an upload'll kill that quick smart.

add: All fixed, there is a box to tick: ignore local traffic within the lan.

  • Still waiting for the delivery. $360..

The tracking link WD sent me still shows:

    Mon 25 Aug 2014 15:04
    In transit
    OAKLEIGH SOUTH VIC

    Mon 25 Aug 2014 14:48
    Picked up from sender
    OAKLEIGH SOUTH VIC

    Why takes so long???

    • They send item through normal AusPost registered mail. They cannot email the NAS to you.
