    $359.99 Delivered

    It was $320 delivered before…

    • +1

Unfortunately not for me and many others it wasn't.

    • +4

Well if you read the comments, apparently WD are cancelling most of the orders, I'll let you read the rest my quick draw JV. Now This is the legit way of getting 10% off of already good price hard drive. So a bargain is still a bargain at the end of the day.

      • According to "ms" below

"Please read the post by apnamasti where it says 10% off is on rrp, not on the discounted price."

That means it will be $629.1 with 10% for RRP ($699), or just get it from the discounted price $399.

        • I just ordered and it is 10% off $399 as stated. ie. $359.99 delivered

The coupon code email doesn't say anything about RRP and @Twisty mentioned below it is for 'any' online products. This should be honoured as it is a genuine discount code. The other 20% link was more of a loophole. I remain hopeful…

        • @brilliances:

I now have a tracking number at the price of $359.99.

WD said in another email you can't have a double discount when I asked why I couldn't have the 20% ($320) deal, now they've let this one go through to delivery !

          Thanks Huntta !

    • That's how Ozbargain works - someone posted murky so called "deal" and everyone is pissed off at the end. But "the deal" was great. (316+, no negs)

Than someone post a genuine deal. And all people who was "ripped off" (who didn't manage to get that dodgy deal) come here (not there) to neg it.

      You are funny.

  • +1
    • I think this is a much better bargain.

It's the same enclosure, just the inside difference, and it's upgradable.

I suppose it comes with WD Red?

      Care to post this separately?

      • -1

Someone said 3TB WD HDD has high failure rate? Maybe not the WD Red?

    • cheers, I'll grab this one. also, WD green drives inside from other reports.

  • +1

Waiting on my refund from the 320 deal :(

    • I didnt think they billed you until it leaves the warehouse?

      • +1

Paypal debited my account last Friday.

      • +1

        Paypal did.

      • Yes, Paypal did.

  • You guys still thing $360 is a good deal for this NAS?

    • +1

      For 8TB?, hell yeah!!

    • +1

It was a good deal before the extra 20% off fiasco.

    • That all depends on what you are going to use it for…

      • +3

I'll go out on a limb and say data storage.

    • Of course, each of 4TB of WD Red is $190 delivered from Amazon.

I assume this is WD Red, no?

      • No, greens.

  • +4

After the last deal, I feel scared to buy WD product from their online store. If for some reason this device fails… I can't imagine the amount of time and cost I would have to waist.

I think I will wait once I actually run out of space with my current drives and will buy stand alone hdd when needed from a local store. Maybe even invest in a 4 Bay NAS case.

  • 6TB @270 VS 8TB @360, same $45/TB, which one you gonna pick up?

    • +4

Put it this way. currently 3TB Green is approx $125 and 4TB Green $175 from MSY.

      2x3TB = $250
      2x4TB = $350

      D-Link 2 Bay NAS = $99

Cheapest 4TB i have seen was $136 (external)
      Cheapest 3TB is $109 (External)

      Just do the math….

The best deal I got was 4x2TB (USB3 Seagate) for $216. When I think about that, this WD 8TB does not appeal to me anymore after how WD has been treating us.

      • Yeah, feeling same, have 2 bays free in the PC still for 2x4tb seagates

      • Cheapest 3TB is $109 (External)

        You forgot this one.

        $79 - WD elements 3 TB Drive (30th June 7pm)

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/150630

        • +1

3tb for 109 on static ice?
          That turns into

          RRP $149.99
          $11,528,000,114.12 Inc GST
          $10,480,000,103.75 Ex GST
          Possible delivery method: Courier Delivery

What is it with these retards (HN, WD, etc etc) and their incorrect pricing?

          http://www.warehouse1.com.au/epages/shop.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPat…

        • +1

          @Davros:

Thanks for sharing the bargain, I bought 12.

  • +2

How long does this one last? Pricks still owe me $320 from last scam so loathed to give them another $360

  • +18

I'm not buying this one after my earlier order was cancelled with nary an apology or explanation given. Lousy customer service.

Neg for the store. No disrespect meant to the OP. Mods can revoke my neg if they think it's inappropriate.

    • +4

Yes, I agree with you. I also don't want to buy WD product anymore due to the cancellation of the previous order. They are so rude, no refund information, no explanation why the product cancelled, just say "not satisfied", what a BS!

    • +5

Agree with above. Not worth dealing with this mob.

Best way to mess with them for a terrible customer service (I had student account, but they cancelled old order) is to not buy anything from them.

      • +5

Agreed. The WD Store is managed by Digital River. They have a habit of cancelling orders. They cancelled both my orders from the Asus online store (also managed by digital river) because i used a $200 coupon code that was sent to me from asus that i won in a comp. They wont send me a replacement voucher either.

        • +3

How did they justify rejecting your coupon prize ?

        • +1

Operational reasons which will not be commented on. FU WD, FU SM.

        • @scottb721:

'not satisfied' I would suspect as the ahem 'reason'

        • @scottb721:

They said it was on backorder when you clearly could still order it online

    • +8

Yeah I also believe if at least WD was selling it for $99 which suggest definitely it was a price error, I wouldn't feel as bad but because they are now selling for $360 with free delivery, I don't see how an extra $40 is worth upsetting a whole lot of customers..

      • thats a good point.

they are prepared to sell these units for $360 each, but in effect knocked back a group purchase of several hundreds of units at $320…. doesnt make sense.

    • absolutely agree

    • +1

@maf101 asked them for an explanation which was "Your original order was cancelled because of a fraudulent coupon code used. The coupon code used in your original order was intended as a one-time use offer for specific customers who had purchased from WD Store AU in the past. It was posted on a web site for mass consumer use and all orders made in conjunction with that code had to be cancelled."

  • +1

MY order has been cancelled as well from the previous deal, but I think it's fair for other Ozbargain fellows to know that they can get these WD NAS drives for this much money from WD outlet for which I might add is pretty good price, So at least they can try to price match or try not to get rip off by other retailers.

    • You are brave to post this as a deal. I commented about it in the 20% off deal. I grew up saying 'Not happy Jan!' but now everyone is saying 'Not Satisfied' :(

      • +5

for the love of Ozbargain, someone has gotta do it!

        • +1

+one for you. -1x10^10 for WD.

But I am not getting it unless it restore the previous sales. Lost hope for WD already.

          For a matter for $40/NAS ($360 - $320) or 6% RRP (40/699), WD pissed off a large group of customers (now ex-customers).

  • Well I still want to start down the NAS path, willing to stretch to about $250-$270.
So either this 6TB deal or a D-Link box and a WB 3TB red drive. Maybe even two 1TB reds in Raid1.

    • I would do it properly and get a Microserver first, and then build up your hard drive collection.

  • Does the outlet sells new or refurbished ? Unlike dell's outlet, you can't really tell.

  • Edit: scrap that, 20% for student/staff is off regular price :/

  • +4

My $320 order got cancelled today too, which in itself is not a problem. But the way they have gone about it with the reason of "Not Satisfied" is just plain rude. For the short foreseeable future, WD has just lost me as a customer. No offense to OP here, but I feel very compelled to NEG this deal.

    • Must agree with you. And as mentioned before - $320 versus $360 - with the negative PR…..
Well - looking at JB HiFi for example who honoured price mistake $29 vs $129 - That made me to make more purchases there and still think high of them.
Now I don't think WD will see any business from me (and probably many others, just looking at this post rating) for quite some time….

  • Mine $320 deal got cancelled. I may try this one. Also, 6TB & 8TB versions, both, are priced at $45/TB

  • +4

I'm gonna buy from "Eastern Analogue" instead !!

  • Missed out last time glad I waited till now.
Just placed an order for the My Book 8TB cant wait to get it hoping there wont be any hiccups :)

  • +1

I only want one for the drives at 320 it was worth it, but this one isn't…

  • +3

How much greedy can these companies be is beyond fathom.

The link was not fraudulent. It was a valid link on their own site. Moreover, it wasn't like Harvey Norman stupidity, selling an expensive product for $5.

Western digital could have been more accommodating, however, they decided not to. I didn't need a nas, but still ordered one due to the attractive price. Now, they want $40 more for the same product. As if I am going to buy it again!

  • +2

They are still holding $640 authorisation charge on my account after cancelling the order. f*** wetern digital and f*** digital river.

  • +4

It's a big NEG from me too. (sorry op).
They are very quick to take your money and cancel an order with only a half assed reason but not so quick to give your money back. I put in a dispute with PayPal too.

  • Still waiting for a refund to my PayPal account but on my order confirmation it was stated that I would not be charged until the order was sent, no way would I risk another purchase and have them holding $700 of my money.

  • WD are a waste of time!!!! Don't deal with them they will cancel your order

  • Sorry OP - I will not neg, but also agree with others burnt from the last deal that WD customer service was terrible with the order cancellation. I saw the cancellation today after a week expecting a shipment and will not be purchasing any WD stock for the foreseeable future. I guess I'll just buy a couple of Seagate 4Tb NAS drives and stick them in one of my N40L units (ShoppingExpress Rep - where are you!).

  • Is this product discontinued? I can't navigate to this item from Home page.

It seems to be discontinued by the EX2.

If so, correct me if I'm wrong, any 'lifetime' warranty is void.

  • Deleted

  • +2

my 2cent advise "NO, just no, wait for a week after you pay and they simply sent you cancellation email, with no refund"

  • apologies to the op…but burnt once….when is the refund coming..serioulsy whats the cost of the bad pr v fulfilling the orders?

  • I'm not a "cut off your nose" type of person but if the handling of cancellations is any indication of WD customer service I won't be ordering either. The fact my order was cancelled is not my concern, it is how it was done. Not negging the deal but I don't feel confident of getting good service if something went wrong.

  • +1

    Hi, Guys.
Firstly, please accept my apology for my English. If you feel difficult to read, please ignore that.

I got cancellation email today. I am really angry with WD services. They have no right to cancel our orders with that bullshit reason. I did ring them just now regards with my order and spoke to their supervisor. He asked me whether I placed the order from their website directly or used a link to make the purchase. I said I purchased from WD website because order was place from WD website, not from external links. WD got my order and received my payment, and then I received a confirmation email. That means deal is successful. The reason for cancellation is NOT SATISIFIED. That is ridiculous reason. Who is not satisfied, WD or me? He said the payment has not been clear. They have to refund to me and ask me purchase again. Do they think we are stupid? I showed him my payment from Paypal. The money was charged on 15/08 and money was taken from credit card at same day. They run an online store for years. I do not believe anything wrong with payment authorization. Actually, I did phone them on Wednesday regards with my order. I was told that they have run out of stock and will restock tomorrow (Thursday). And then they will send item on Friday and I will receive a tracking number. That sounds reasonable. I could not expect that they cancel our order.

To all buyers, we are consumers, we are not computer hacker. We make purchases online legally from WD online store client page by spending our own money. We did not hack into their system to change the price. We are innocent. If they think the discount cannot be applied on all customers, it is not our fail. They should check with their technicians. WD is not small business. If Coles or Woolworth make wrong price label, you will receive goods for free.

WD service makes me no confidence on their products. I would write a complaint to consumer affairs. If you are a victim and you are not happy with the order cancellation, you can ring to WD store to make a complaint on 00-11-800-22754932. If they still give you lots of bullshit, please make a complaint to consumer affairs. I believe that consumer affairs will take action once they receive more and more same issue.

    • I did give them a call on this number (00-11-800-22754932) the consultant told me that because the purchase was made using a "FRAUDULENT" code the item has been cancelled by WD. I told them I didn't use any code at all, all I did was add the product in my cart and in the cart it was showing me as 319.99 with $80 discount. They said as the system is showing them it was an invalid code the order is cancelled and there is nothing they can do about it, if I need the drive I can order it online and they will post it to me. @ybpc_tj if you are raising a complaint against them count me in I will counter sign it.

      • Thanks for your support.

My working company sells auto parts on eBay. If we made any mistake on prices or postage, we will take responsibility for that, not simply cancel the order. That is why our feedback is always 99.9% positive.

As congngo said, they don't respect their customers. I have lots of WD products. I am so disappointed.

        • Count me in… I don't mind getting my order cancelled, but I don't like the way they responded.. & we haven't hacked into their site & if they realize that its an error they should have refunded our money immediately.

    • Hi mate, just as frustrated with my order cancellation as you are. However, their terms and conditions clearly state:

"Your receipt of an electronic or other form of order confirmation does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of the order or our offer to sell. We reserve the right, without prior notification, to accept or decline your order or limit the order quantity for any reason."

So there's no cause for a complaint unless their terms and conditions are in breach with Australian consumer law.

  • Not buying from them, because they don't respect their customers…

  • why buy from a company that thinks you are stupid? Even if they are going to give away things for free, i would still feel insulted.

  • I agree with all the posts above, terrible customer service from WD to simply state 'Not satisfied' as the cancellation reason. Further to ybpc_tj's post I do intent to make a complaint to Consumer Affairs. I also tried to send them an email to query the reason for cancellation - I filled in their webform after registering and consistently received the error 'An error was encountered during knowledge base search'. It certainly feels as if they are trying to avoid providing customer service - or answers.

    • Halo88, I had the same problem, you need to start typing in the "please search product box" and then choose the product you ordered from the drop down box. Then it will send. I want a written response, hopefully it will be more professional than the answers people are getting on the phone.

  • +1

I was just told that if you use the 10% discount coupon, the order will be cancelled again. Apparently promotional codes can only be applied to RRP. If it is applied to discounted prices, then the order will get cancelled. What a load of B.S.

    • I suspected that might be the case. LOL. What a poorly run get up

  • Dont bother with this deal, they'll just take your money and cancel your order

  • $359.99 is still tempting,
can I replace the 2 x 4TB with 1x 1.5tb seagate and 1 x 2tb hitachi, and span them to 3.5TB? and use those 2 greens for my microserver?
also, Does it work properly with just 1 HDD in the NAS?

    • -1

Please read the post by apnamasti where it says 10% off is on rrp, not on the discounted price.

    • It has embedded linux installed on the original disks. The image is different for different size of the disk. There might be way to clone the OS and resize the partitions.

I have a MyBook world 2 white light. It runs fine with 1 disk. When I accidentally corrupted glibc.so. I just removed disk A and booted up with disk B. After that I remove all partitions from disk A and put it back. The system automatically sync the disks again. It took 8 hours for 1TB disks. I am not sure about MyBook live. (My order was cancelled).

      • $399 is still kind of ok if I can just extract and format the 2 x 4TB for my HP server + recycle some of my old HDD into this NAS.
Are there any readings about format and install the HDD into this WD My Book Live Duo? I tried to google but cannot find any.

I assume just plug in a new HDD into the My Book Live Duo and it will slowly format them automatically, but I cannot find any article to confirm that.

        • +1

Sorry to disappoint you. You cannot just put in a random hdd and expect it to work. The OS for the NAS is stored in the HDD. The NAS boots up from the hdd and provide various service to you via the OS. You have to clone the OS to the hdd before you have use it. Worst still, some propitiatory OS checks for hdd model before it can function correctly, such as the WD NAS.

  • I rang them as I really do need a External Hard Drive, and they said the code sent out via the newsletter sign up is for a one time use on any of the online products

    • If I was you, I would wait it out for a few more days until they cancel all the orders. Then perhaps submit a order through with the 10% coupon. The reason why I say this is because there is a good chance if you order now they will cancel your order like the others.

  • +1

Bunch of mugs, cancelling everyone's orders.

  • -3

For anyone interested, I've received order confirmation for this deal (with the 10% newsletter signup discount).

So it looks like they are honouring orders @ $360 delivered for 8TB.

    • +2

They did the same last time

    • +2

      means nothing.

everyone received order confirmation last deal, and still got cancelled.

    • +1

Don't count on it - I received order confirmation and they took payment from credit card (payment not pre-auth) on the 20% deal

In my limited understanding thats a legally binding contract - offer (their site), acceptance (email order confirmation) and consideration (payment)

      • nup…. it goes like this:

        invitation to treat (their site)

        offer (your order)

        acceptance (they issue invoice/receipt)

        consideration (they take your money)

    • Hi Mate,
Don't count on that as I received confirmation for previous 20% off deal as well that later got cancelled around the time that they said it would be delivered. I am still waiting for a refund from that transaction.

However, since the price is still good and I need the product, I ended up ordering it again with 10% deals and received confirmation but won't be counting on it till I actually receive the product.

    • For the people who downvoted my previous comment:

      Tracking number Service Status
      (removed) eParcel In transit
      Date/Time Activity Location
Thu 28 Aug 2014 15:04 In transit OAKLEIGH SOUTH VIC
Thu 28 Aug 2014 15:01 Picked up from sender OAKLEIGH SOUTH VIC

That's OzPost's shipping notice, not just some internal WD one that can be created without actually sending something.

But maybe they are delivering a cancellation notice? Right guys?

      • Call Auspost tomorrow (1800-007-678) and ask them about that. 3 days is too long for national delivery.
