    • That's very likely but it does not seem that the orders that have been fulfilled were those that were submitted first/earlier when this deal was posted. I say this because jimbeam put his through 6pm Friday and he has received his. Looks like the order processing is either random or last in first out.

    The best way to voice your concern is never buy western digital products
    buy from the rival like seagate, vote with your wallet is the most effective way
    and spread the words via facebook and twitter etc…

      Seagate have the highest failure rate of the big name HDD manufacturers. If anything you should stick to Toshiba/Hitachi drives.

        Even if every positive 328 vote on OzBargain ended up purchasing (which they didnt), WD wont give a crap if we all never buy WD again. They are that big they simply dont care.

        I'm happy with my HP Microserver, and tbh I much prefer WD drives over Seagate. So as much as I hate wasting my time and money trying to buy this deal, its not going to stop me buying WD in the future.

        It was a good bargain, and this time it didnt pan out. You win some you lose some… but you gotta try.
        The HP Microserver deal for a few years ago is legendary, and that was a dodgy pricing thing just like this deal… but it panned out for us:).

    I've been burnt here myself with this but ultimately it was a good deal at the original sale price and they pinged me for incorrectly claiming student discount. I'm not sure I really have anything to whinge about.

    I asked them for an explanation and an apology. They replied within hours.

    Your original order was cancelled because of a fraudulent coupon code used. The coupon code used in your original order was intended as a one-time use offer for specific customers who had purchased from WD Store AU in the past. It was posted on a web site for mass consumer use and all orders made in conjunction with that code had to be cancelled.

    I've never had a problem with WD drives and the 6TB I ordered will solve my storage problems.

  • Just got off the phone with WD support. I create a case and apparently the funds will be refunded within the next 24 hours. Seems like BS to me. I ordered on the 15th August…why should I wait any longer. Will wait to see what happens tomorrow and then escalate from there if they don't refund.

  • Cancelled as well. Will keep an eye out for some specials on Seagate NAS HDD's to put in my N40L instead. I have a few Seagate VN and WD RED already and no problems with either. I just won't be giving my business to WD.

  • I spoke to WD customer service this morning and they have advised the link was a hack and that all orders are going to be cancelled and refunded.

    Firstly, please accept my apology for my English. If you feel difficult to read, please ignore that.

    I got cancellation email today. I am really angry with WD services. They have no right to cancel our orders with that bullshit reason. I did ring them just now regards with my order and spoke to their supervisor. He asked me whether I placed the order from their website directly or used a link to make the purchase. I said I purchased from WD website because order was place from WD website, not from external links. WD got my order and received my payment, and then I received a confirmation email. That means deal is successful. The reason for cancellation is NOT SATISIFIED. That is ridiculous reason. Who is not satisfied, WD or me? He said the payment has not been clear. They have to refund to me and ask me purchase again. Do they think we are stupid? I showed him my payment from Paypal. The money was charged on 15/08 and money was taken from credit card at same day. They run an online store for years. I do not believe anything wrong with payment authorization. Actually, I did phone them on Wednesday regards with my order. I was told that they have run out of stock and will restock tomorrow (Thursday). And then they will send item on Friday and I will receive a tracking number. That sounds reasonable. I could not expect that they cancel our order.

    To all buyers, we are consumers, we are not computer hacker. We make purchases online legally from WD online store client page by spending our own money. We did not hack into their system to change the price. We are innocent. If they think the discount cannot be applied on all customers, it is not our fail. They should check with their technicians. WD is not small business. If Coles or Woolworth make wrong price label, you will receive goods for free.

    WD service makes me no confidence on their products. I would write a complaint to consumer affairs. If you are a victim and you are not happy with the order cancellation, you can ring to WD store to make a complaint on 00-11-800-22754932. If they still give you lots of bullshit, please make a complaint to consumer affairs. I believe that consumer affairs will take action once they receive more and more same issue.

    Did anyone that got the shipping email then get cancelled? I received a shipping confirmation on the 19th but no cancellation email (yet).

    • I think I am in the same boat as you.
      I was one of the last to get in on the deal on Friday night (sold out soon after I bought it)
      I have delivery confirmation stating the item left the warehouse - my credit card was charged yesterday

      But no delivery……… and no cancellation……… yet!

      I have a feeling they've recalled the couriers and they're going to have our hard drives returned to the warehouse before we get our cancellation email - but that is just my gut feeling (based on the fact they charge credit card AFTER dispatch and it wouldnt normally take this long from Melbourne)

      • I purchased Friday afternoon at first time I saw the post. My credit card was charged 18/08. I got cancellation email yesterday. I am writing a complaint to consumer affairs. If you all encounter same issue. Please do not hesitate to send a complaint to consumer affairs. I believe they will take some action.

  • A day after cancellation email, still no sign of refund in PayPal, through which they charged my CC a week ago.

    At 1515 on Friday, I rang their international contact number, for which they claim "Support Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 5.00pm AET* (Australia Eastern Time)". Recorded message - "The office is closed."

    PayPal claim lodged! Having no experience with PayPal disputes, I don't know if that will speed thing up or slow them down :-{

  • Well I called them around 9am yesterday in regards to when the refund will occur. They said, 'within 24 hours'. Still nothing. Paypal demand for refund submitted and ACCC complaint lodged. You cannot hold onto customers money for this long.

      I also called Paypal, showed them the cancellation email and refused to do anything, as they "get a lot of business through western digital" and are waiting for their side of the story..

      How can a company charge your credit card, then cancel your order a week later, and 4 days after that still not refund your money?

  • I just received a thank you email with 20% off link from western digital. Has any one received such email? I have neither received the 8TB that I ordered nor any cancellation email. I have only received the "shipped" email without any tracking info few days ago.

    I have just tested the link from the "thank you" email and it does bring the 8TB to 319.99, but don't want to order another one just in case if they decide to ship my original order.

    4 Days since order cancellation, 10 days since ordering. There was no shipment, yet they still hold onto my money. Unbelievable.

  • Called WD today re refund. They said I used a fraudulent code and refund should be received 5 business days after the cancellation.

    • You should have asked them what was the code you used. That will get them umming and humming!!! It's ridiculous I telly you.

    • I love how they say fraudulent to make you sound like some sort of criminal or hacker.

      it was a GENUINE code because the system recognised it as part of their return customer campaign.

      because it worked on a reduced item is a TECHNICAL glitch and they should fire their marketing team
