Panasonic 50" 100hz LED TV for $849 & 42" 100hz LED Smart TV for $679 @ The Good Guys

390

I know that the 15% off tv's and fridges deal was posted before, but sometimes the good deals are worth identifying separately.

My tv broke yesterday, so I had to get a new one in a hurry. I came across two particularly good bargains:

Panasonic 50" 100Hz LED tv for $849
Panasonic 42" 100Hz Smart LED tv for $679

Each of these are about $100+ more expensive anywhere else. Interestingly, prices for 50Hz models of other brands are as high. Unfortunately I did not have space for the 50", but I am particuarly pleased with the 42", which has a great picture and supports 2.4/5Ghz wireless. I think these are great prices for a 100Hz tv from a top brand.

  • Well instead of the 50" you might wish to consider the 60" at an unbeatable $1200 at BingLee for another 24h.
    See post here

Good value, but if I can't fit a 50", then a 60" is little use.

    • But then you have to give your money to Gerry Harvey.

Oh well screw the cheap prices then … wait what?

  • OP is the stand and bezel black or silver? It's hard to see in the pic. Thnx.

Silver stand and bottom bezel on the 42". Left, right and top polished black. I think all black on the 50, but not sure as I didn't but it.

fark me large screen tvs are cheap now. I haven't been monitoring their price for quite a few years.. I htink I paid $3500 for my Sony Bravia 50 something inch TV some 6 years ago.

EDIT: is the low pricing due to OLEDs being 'better' and these are just normal LED?

    • I think it's because UHD (4k) screens are around.

    • Yeah, bought my 50" Panasonic Plasma for like $2500 for almost 4 years ago! Guess I better wait until it die on me to change to new ones!

Same price at the DSE eBay shop and you get 2% cashback too.

  • Still prefer a plasma - if you can find one!

    100hz is a useless feature

    • 100hz is better than 50hz.

Except its not real hZ just upscaled crap

I wouldn't bother trying to educate most OzBargainers on this topic Nick, not only are they unconcerned about their complete ignorance of MC tech, many of them actually seem quite proud of it!

Oh my god I've been looking for a cheap but good quality 100hz tv for the past month. Glad this came along. Thanks

  • Still waiting for that 50/55" LED Passive 3D Panasonic, Sony or Samsung for under a grand. Hopefully within the next two years or so with the influx of 4K taking over the market.

Within 2 years we should be seeing Ultra-D glassless 3D in the market, which should be more acceptable than the current 3D passive systems with glasses.

We should also be seeing more affordable OLED and IMO the market will eventually be dominated by OLED Ultra-D or its equivalent.

They were too quick to re-introduce 3D without a better technology and it may have damaged the cause.

      • Sounds great but will come with a high cost, no doubt.

        • +1

As always, at the beginning of any new technologies life cycle. I think the better question is. Once we do get to Ultra OLED what's next? Where do we go when refresh rates/picture quality/deep blacks all meet or exceed the human eyes ability to differentiate one picture from another. What will the big boys sell us then?
