Shipping to Australia is $33.10 US. I'm not sure if this is the norm but I have a vague memory of checking shipping to Aus a week or so ago and they either didn't do it or it was extremely expensive.

The DC59 Motorhead is a new model that hasn't yet been released in Australia. It is apparently identical to the Animal except for a different beater head that is powered by an internal electric motor rather than air flow. This increases brush bar power by 75% (according to marketing specs), at the cost of slightly reduced runtime and suction (according to online reviews).

I'm not sure how the US charger differs but I presume it is multi-voltage capable and will work with a simple plug adapter.

multi-voltage capable is the concern, anyone could confirm? ta

  • My DC 35 is multi-voltage capable, hence I assume they all are.

  • Be careful the DC59 Motorhead. Sounds like a downgrade to me given the reviews.

  • I bought a Dyson at the last Good Guys Sale but decided to sell it on eBay as it is just collecting dust.

It is supposed to be used to collect dust?

Tim Vine would like his joke back.

  • any idea how warranty works on these? does it have to be shipped back to amazon

from a quick search it seems dyson doesn't have an international warranty but I'd love to be proven wrong.

No, Dyson AU won't cover a device bought overseas. They will verify that by the serial no.

  • I thought the Animal had a motor in the head as well? Why else would the wand have a power supply running to it?

    • it does. looks like the motorhead one has it located centrally though on the attachment in a direct drive config. The animal is at one end and maybe geared or belt driven?

  • I'll probably wait til it is released here in Australia for warranty. But still a great deal though.

  • I'm going to bite the bullet and get this bad boy. Will definitely have to count it in the apartment budget!

  • Warranty won't work here?
