This is kind of a dupe. It is a good product, however. I have managed to get read speeds of up to 167MB/s on very large files.

How is it a duplicate exactly? hasnt been posted at this price in over a month. If that was the case then every samsung SSD bargain posted is a duplicate when it recieves a price drop

build quality on the case of the two I got last time was pretty shoddy. It's ok if your using it as a jump drive plugged in all the time but if not, don't bother it wont last.

ive got mine attached to my keys and use it every day. No problems. Awesome drive. Highly recommended.

  • i got one some months back.. great little USB!! would recommend

  • Still use the one I got a few months ago. Great speeds for the price.

    Rubbish product, great price.

    • have you got any evidence to back that up?

      • same boat as us where the durability of it is pretty average, if you have it plugged in or on your set of keys its fine, if your ripping it in and out of drives all day they seem to degrade really quick.

Have had 2 of these and since returned them back to Amazon (full refund given). They're quite flaky. One failed completely and the other would only be recognised around every one in three attempts - usual attempts at reformatting in different formats etc.., but no luck.

Were good while they worked, but I could never trust them for any data, regardless of how important.

Good price, but just not worth the hassle of data loss and/or return to amazon.

    • I had to do a low-level format on mine before I was able to use it as a bootable drive. Normal format wouldn't cut it. Hope it won't die down the track.

      • +1

        How did you do that?

        • +1

I used instructions similar to the ones here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/danstolts/archive/2012/07/26/crea… (under (4))
Basically, have to delete the MBR, which a standard format doesn't do. The tool to create a bootable Windows installation disk wouldn't run using this disk until I did this. Sorry, it's not actually a low-level format… used the wrong term.

        • @Make it so:
Ok, thanks for the reply, I understand now, I was wondering what you meant by "Low Level" :-)

        • @oz-dave: normally means a zero fill. But removing the partition table and MBR achieves the same result in this case. Bottom line is, these drives have an issue with the MBR such that if you try to use them as windows installation disk, it fails.

        • @Make it so:
Since the original meaning obviously doesn't apply to flash storage, it is interesting to find out what people mean by "Low Level" :-)

    • Have had 2 fail on me as well. Just sticking to quality flash drives (like Sandisk Extreme Pro) now.

    • How did you get amazon to pay for the return shipping?

  • Got one a while back good fast drive

  • +3

That's some pretty pathetic random write 4K speed. Don't expect this to be fast while copying lots of small files or running applications from it.

I recommend the Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB. 2x the price but way better and no flaky build. These PNY drives are really unreliable.

FWIW I got one of these the last time it was mentioned and has been great. No problems, reasonable speeds (60MB/sec write, same or higher on read).
