    Are guaranteeing this?

Philips have it on their packaging, so by consumer law yes. Having said that our return rate / failure rate is basically 0 unlike some other cheaper brands.

Philips calculate the life with the following formula

Extremely long operating life (15,000 hours), Life in years is calculated based on 1,000 hours of usage per year, which is about 2.7 hours per day across 365 days.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it says it will last at least 15 years, rather UP TO 15 years.

Equivalent to a 25watt traditional globe. Just right for all the tight Ozbargainers like me who are too mean to light up the place

    • Yeah, too dim for me. I'd need to run a few simultaneously & don't have sufficient sockets to do that conveniently. I have higher brightness & cost of one's I'm happy with but would be curious what's good lumens/$ value.

I believe its also called 'mood' lighting

I bought a Philips 5watt led light at bunnings a few months ago (not sure if its exactly the same model) and while it works well, it does emit a high pitch shrill after a few minutes of being turned on.

Fortunately the shrill only lasts a few moments and speeds up in frequency and then seems to go outside the range of human hearing. For $5 its not bad..

Naturally it might just be my globe and these don't do that in general and at $5 a globe its cheaper than no-name ebay ones.

      2 in 1, it's a pest control device also :)

    • I also bought a 5watt Philips LED globe from Bunnings 2 months ago. Mine doesn't make any sound, because it blew already, after 20 minutes of use a day (some days not at all if it was bright enough already)

  • Any chance, you can do free postage?

Long life sure, but where grey market wins auto for me also. Dullest CREE I've imported , got 12 W (48W) +Ultra bright 15 W(60W)-just spectacular w' awesome performance.

Can personally vouch for cow_store/ 99.5% feedback/Hong Kong AU16.99 got my 3 shipped 2 on LED splitter adaptor, works for angle. . A perfect fill-in soln till dimmable CRI 93 / 12W omni's arrive to our shores below $5. . (unsuitable [US$9.49]110v). Won't be mucking about with local stock apart from rare 25wtable lamp.

    • If you're planning to stay on the case (sounds like you are) if that last one ever sees a 240 volt version released (maybe Buckley's) please post back here.

    • Aren't most 15W cfls putting out 60W equivalent?

      • Slowly getting there re: to efficiency & availability; CRI>90[240v].
+ making sense to ditch mercury n higher temps; attain a greater life cycle
+ although I run both, it avoids an eyesore diverging my beam throwers away from chair, rather to miss a computer desk from a front high fitting overhead. Colour warm mimics sunlight quite apart from a posted mood light.

  • Ordered yesterday, arrived today. Nice. Thanks OP and co.

Already fitted 2 - both turned on and made funny noises. If you are like digitalaxon and prefer musical light bulbs, maybe you should look elsewhere.

    • So you saying it has unusual sound when operating or just at start-up???

I was about to purchase then i saw your reply.

Tell us a bit more about these bulbs. Are they brighter than same wattage 5w fluorescent light???

      • My bad, that should have read 'both turned on and made NO funny noises'. I'm quite happy with the bulbs.

        • Ok, thanks.
Since it's so cheap and i couldn't resist them even though i still have quite a few fluorescent left in my drawer, i got 6 already.
Right now i can't see the "Clearance" page on their website, maybe sold out..

  • Appears to be sold out (404 now)

  • Mine is still saying "Processing" on my account page, ordered on 29 Aug, why takes so long??!!
