  been using my recon for 3 years in a very non caring way, still protects everything well, ample space for a days worth of gear

  a bottle strap thing snapped and broke within the first few weeks, but everything else has been awesome and stayed intact :)

    I've also been using my Recon for about 3 years. Before that, I had a North Face Surge for 2 years before my cousin ruined it with his puke, which is when I got the Recon (puke aside, the Surge was still in great shape at that point!)

    Also wanted to add, if there are any women looking at the Recon, it comes in a women's version for $10 more than the standard version: https://thenorthface.com.au/product/women-s-recon-2

    The colour that's on sale may not be to everyone's taste, but I did notice a functional difference going from the Surge (men's) to my women's Recon - the straps aren't set as far apart and it's not as tall, making it better suited to those with smaller frames.

    It also fits quite hefty laptops (e.g. my 15.6" Clevo.)

    Love the backpack. I have my TNF bag screaming with N only. Rest were blackened & blended with the bag.
