  • Is there an expiration date for this deal?

  • Be wary before committing to this offer! I tried their comparator and it told me I would save around $52 a year by switching to Jackgreen. But when I compare the supply rates for electricity per kWh and daily supply, Jackgreen are actually around 25% dearer for the same 10% green energy tariff.

One place on their site even indicated I would save over $570 per year by switching — clearly an error!

Overall I can see there are bugs in their calculation so make sure you compare the tariff before taking the plunge. If you've already made the switch, check your figures as you may want to exercise your 10 day cooling off period if you feel you've been misled.

    • I think the saving estimates are basically correct because I compared the results with several other similar sites, and they are basically consistent. For your case, the $52 saving a year is probably from the signup bonus, the tricky part is that you can only get the $52 saving for the first year, and then you may have to pay more if you continue staying with Jackgreen.

      • Hi Excite,

Thank you for your comments. You are correct the $75, bonus is a Sign up Bonus, giving Australian customers the opportunity to save $75 by switching to Jackgreen. This is credited to their second bill when they pay on time. This offer also does not have a contract length or period in which customers must stay with the company, but as it offers $75 saving and 10% GreenPower, customers are able to save more than just money in the first year.

        Kind regards,

        Leon Hayes

But Jackgreen actually has a two years contract, and $49 if cancelled after the cooling off period.

    • Hi Ceejay,

We at Switchselect.com are dedicated to ensuring we offer customers the most complete and comprehensive site available. We consistently focus our energy on ensuring that our data is up to date and correct. Infact our data is checked daily and provided to us by the energy companies themselves, the government gazettes and the industry bodies. As comparing tariffs is the lifeline of our business we have to ensure we are correct.

From your User Profile I see you are in Sydney. If this is the case and you compared your current retailer in our system, the tariff charges shown, will be correct as they are based on the Regulated Tariffs for each energy network - Integral and Energy Australia.

From your comment it is difficult to engage who your current retailer is or what your current tariff is, however we can assure your and other Sydney customers this tariff is exactly the same tariff as Jackgreen offer directly however through Switchselect.com we offer a $75 sign up bonus. This is credited after paying your first bill on time and has no contract length.

It would be interesting to know exactly what usage amounts you were comparing on as $570 is a substantial saving, are you sure this wasn't a -$570 amount? Please also understand that in the Sydney region all tariffs are compared based on the regulated tariffs so to have Jackgreen's tariff 25% dearer than another tariff on our site is simply not possible.

Please note in NSW,QLD, VIC, ACT and SA this offer does not have a contract length and we brought this offer to the market to assist customers in saving money with the added bonus of Jackgreen's 10% GreenPower for no extra cost.

If you would like us to assist you in comparing please contact us on 1800 279482 or contact me directly at [email protected] and myself and my team will be more than willing to assist you in finding the best deal.

      Kind regards,

      • Hi Leon, thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment.

I am in the EnergyAustralia residential network area, although I am an AGL customer with 10% GreenPower. In reviewing my AGL charges, I've since discovered that the kWh rate indicated on my bill is exclusive of GST, Green Spirit fee and 5% Freedom Peak discount. Once these are factored in, you are correct — Jackgreen does come in a little cheaper, assuming my kWh rate would fall within the first 1,750kWh of your Standard Tariff.

However the quoted annual savings of $526.99 on an annual spend of $520.71 does still appear on your website. I'll send you a screenshot so can can investigate further.

One question though, is the amount of estimated annual savings exclusive of the $75 sign-up bonus?

Anyway, well done for helping me clear this up. I've now removed my negative vote.

  • "Cancellation charge: $0 if termination is in writing, $49 without written notice"

This makes switching to another provider a bit of an unneeded chore…

  • Would I need to stay with Jackgreen for at least 2 bill(ing cycle)s to receive the benefit of the $75 credit? I am told that when switching retailers (and staying at the same address) the change takes effect as of the next scheduled meter reading, so if I signed up with Jackgreen now, get my first bill for the period between my next two meter readings (say for example 1 October - 31 December), pay my first bill on time whenever it would be due in January/February, but meanwhile I've switched to another retailer before 31 December (ie taking effect from 1 January), meaning I won't receive a second bill cos I'm no longer with Jackgreen, what happens to the $75 credit?
