Ford $200 Test Drive Challenge - Get $200 if You Test Drive a Ford but Buy Other New Car

200

From Ford web site:
"We’re so confident that you’ll prefer a Ford that we’re willing to bet $200 on it. Test Drive any Ford (excluding FPV) and, if you then decide to buy a new competitor car, we’ll give you $200*. But if you choose the Ford – as we’re sure you will – you’ll get a $500 bonus off the purchase price."

Pretty good offer if you are in the market for a new car, get $200 (provided in the form of a Visa® prepaid card) if you test drive a Ford but decide to buy a competitor's car, and get $500 off the negotiated purchase price if you decide to buy the Ford.

I must disclose that I do work for Ford, but have only posted this deal because I think it is a good offer.

T's & C's:

If you choose a new competitor car:

Simply complete the online redemption form, upload a copy of your purchase documents and registration details, and Ford will send you a $200 Visa® prepaid card*. Terms and Conditions apply.

If you choose the Ford:

You’ll get a bonus $500 off the vehicle of your choice at the time of purchase**. Terms and Conditions apply.

Dammit, just bought two new cars, could've worked out quite well if I knew about this offer before! Definitely would at least boost test drives of cars if nothing else.

    • +4

      Me too! (actually me one)
Maybe — in bizarro world — we can return our cars and re-buy them after our Ford test drives?

      • Doesn't really matter coz u already lost $1000 depreciation value as soon as u take your new car out of the dealership.

        • +1

In my case the dealer lost $000's when I drove out because OzBargain

        • +2

Haha, if it was only $1000 you would be lucky…..on a $30,000 purchase you would lose $5,000 as soon as you drive it out of the dealer, and it goes up as the purchase price goes up.

        • +2

I reckon you gave the sales person a vvverrryyy hard time. He/she probably went back and forth to the manager a hundred times trying to get you the impossible deal you're asking. Haha I can imagine all dealerships tremble on their knees when they see ozbargainers walking down their doors. They must have like alarms or some hand signals when we walk in. Haha

        • +1

Or I think they won't really sell at a bargain price unless they're selling you a proton or something not popular or if they're really desperate for a sale

        • @Izefyre: The 'let me ask my manager' is a ruse/bluff. They all have a minimum price.

What they might go to the manager for legitimately is changing terms. Or they're a newbie and just double-checking.

    • What did you buy out of curiosity….

  • +9

Essentially, you need to purchase a car to get the $200, you don't just get $200 for test drive and no purchase.

  • -3

Your title is misleading, you have to buy the car to be eligible for the $200.

    • +14

Read the description and the deal itself on the link, not just the title, can't fit everything in the title….

        • +7

          Title updated….

        • +1

I doubt you're in the market for a new car anyway…

        • -1

If you bother to read maybe you could stop wasting stupid comments like these.

  • +3

What if I just tell you that I will buy a new car? I promise I will…. one day.

  • +4

it looks like you actually need to buy, and prove purchase of, the competitor car. Not quite "get $200 (provided in the form of a Visa® prepaid card) just for test driving a Ford".

    • That's exactly what it is, do you think $$$ comes for free? Its obviously for people with the intention of buying a new car.

      • When it was originally posted this was not clear. The way it was worded sounded like you simply got $200 for taking a test drive. It has been edited and clarified since.

        Edit:
        Here is the original title

The Ford $200 Test Drive Challenge - get $200 for test driving a Ford

        and description

Pretty good offer if you are in the market for a new car, get $200 (provided in the form of a Visa® prepaid card) just for test driving a Ford, and get $500 off if you decide to buy the Ford.

a jeep will creep up something steep, it'll then break, and then you'll weep, when you realise your pockets aren't so deep

I'm a TV channel programmer, so I bought a Veep

        • He'll need that $200 for repairs soon enough lol

        • @jzx100: why pay for it ?

    • +23

BS… no one buys a Jeep. You only lease it, your either constantly paying the dealership, the bank or your mechanic…

    • +10

      My condolences

    • +5

He bought a jeep! He needs the $200 to spend on a mechanic

You do feel sorry for that guy reading his story.

      • +3

        thanks for posting
        i think it's a worthy cause and donated $20
        everybody else should get involved!

  • +1

I'm not buying a new Ford, I only just finished getting all the squeaks and rattles fixed in the last one.

    • +4

The beauty of this is you don't have to buy a Ford! Think of their test drive as if you're attending a timeshare seminar…… zz

  • Seriously? Did you buy a Jeep? :-)

  • +1

If only my circumstances were different, I would buy a Fiesta ST!!!

    • Missing the tip?

    • +2

To Ozeebee, please do tell…..can't afford it? …. can't drive manual? …. really fat kids/wife ?…..too embarrassed to be seen in a Ford with your baseball cap on backwards ?

      • +1

        Nope. None of the above.

Plan on going to London for a couple of years from mid next year. So all finances are going to saving fund at the moment.

But Fiesta ST would be on top of my shopping list if I was looking. I love hot hatchbacks!

        • Lucky you, London is a great base for exploring Europe, and they have the Fiesta ST over there as well….

    • +1

I have one of these it's awesome. Such a fun little car.

    • Yeeeeaaahhh!

A mate took me ripping around some terrible damp & tight UK roads in one. Pushing it hard enough to have me squirming… and I'm used to spirited driving (pass. seat too).

"Jaysus.. Good thing you've got all wheel drive" I awkwardly chuckled.

"What? Nah, that model was another 5000* pounds"

      Faaaaarrrr….

      *Don't quote me on that

    test drive Ford
buy Suzuki Alto (probably Australia's cheapest car?)
    claim $200
    ???
    profit ;)

    • +2

      Cheapest is a Chery.
      You're still out by $7,295.

      http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?silo=stock&q=((Service%3d%5bCarsales%5d)%26(SiloType%3d%5bBrand+new+cars+in+stock%5d))&vertical=car&sortby=~Price

    • +5

Seriously, would you really buy a Suzuki Alto? If you only have 15k to spend you are way better off buying a 2-3 year old proper car like a Focus or Mazda3. Much safer and much nicer to drive, more space for passengers and luggage, and not butt ugly….

      • nah. i'm not that desperate for a new car :)
i'd throw 15k on a decent used car like the ones you mentioned. there are very few cars out there i'd buy new, and those don't cost anywhere near 15k

  • +1

Nice to have a rep here - I don't suppose there will be any hot deals for the Focus RS? ;)

Edit: I guess you're going to say the deal is $500 off.
Edit2: Or not even that if it's a FPV.

    • PM me, I will see what I can do. Focus RS is not FPV, so the $500 offer should apply.

  • Ends Oct, likely just before the launch (not necessarily into dealerships, though) of the new Falcon. Bummer.

  • +1

As this mentions 'Private Sales Only' I assume that 'user choosers' taking out Novated leases are excluded? I have a lease ending in 3 months time and I need to get 2 new cars. I could obviously turn the car over sooner and make it happen inside the active period of the deal. I have absolutely no interest in anything Ford makes but I would go for some test drives for $400 in Visa cards.

  • +4

No matter what you do when you buy car, don't go to that RIP YOU OFF room, eg, they offer you paint protection, etc.
The ultimate package cost you the most $500…..they will tell you $3500 and today will give it to you for $3000, and if you bargain for $2000 they will even give it to you. And the person who run that room or office is the sexy lady……don't say never warn you…….what you can do you can ask the sales man bring you to see the lady and tell the salesman that protection package will be included in the car with the price you offer. Good luck for the new car people.

    • +1

There's a room with a Sexy Lady? Ford dealers I've been to seem to hire salesmen that look like they are auditioning for the remake of Bargearse!

    • +4

We used to call her the Ming Mole

    • sexy lady can make you do very odd things

      • +3

Don't forget your protection package when you are with the sexy lady.

  • Guess they can't know if you were already dead set on buying another brand.

  • Just give me $200 and i will tell people you are a good bloke

  • +4

purchased a bbq yesterday so don't really need a new car

    • +2

      Manual or auto ?

  • Oh man, i just bought a car 3 days ago!
Can I still go to Ford to test drive and get $200 lol.

  • This promotion is leading lambs (yourself) to the slaughter.

I don't see how this achieves anything but even-more pressure/tension.

You buy a Ford or leave with money & a sour taste in your mouth. No-one's losing a sale AND cash.

I own a Ford now. BEST car we've ever bought. It sold itself. Everything else got in our way.

  • So it looks like $200 worth of free fuel to compliment your new car, courtesy of Ford and Visa lol
