Brown rice is healthy and delicious and a filling accompaniment to curries or in burritos. This is a crazy good bargain. Rice is mega non-perishable so you can totally stock up for the rest of the year.

Trolley is gradually emptying out - get in there quick!

  • My guess is that the rice is near to the use by date that's why it's 79c.

    • This is correct! I'll check the rice I bought for the use-by date. My reasoning is that when it comes to rice you can fairly happily disregard such a date - or just buy less and use it sooner.

      • Yes it shouldn't affect rice too much if it goes near to the expiry or best before date.

    It looks like there are only 4-5 bags available in the trolley…

    • Probably sold out now as we speak.

      • I went a few weeks ago and the trolley was bulging - it's definitely lower now but more than the photo shows. I'd guess around 20 packs when I went by yesterday.

    Brown rice has a shelf life of about six months which you can extend by freezing. White rice on the other hand has almost unlimited shelf life especially if frozen. The same goes for cooked. Brown rice has a shorter fridge life than white.

    • Well people better eat this brown rice soon because i'd say this IGA store was selling this near the expiry date. Why else would it have been slashed to 79c.
