FYI, no sub in this package and while Dali concept 6's are good speakers, a sub would be recommended for home theater usage

  • Good deal, floorstanders should produce a fair amount of bass but a sub could always be added later.

  • For someone that really likes that extra bass a subwoofer is definitely recommended, but you would be surprise by how much bass the Concept 6 (floorstanding) can handle.

  • Nice , but the AMP is lacking inputs. and as said NO subwoofer.

I reckon there is enough inputs on the amp for the modern tech connections, 3 HDMI at the rear, 1 at the front, it also with 2 optical inputs for digital audio. It has the HD audio decoding with the amp.

Although, my preference would have been for the concept speakers to be connected to the amp with screw type speaker connections (to allow for larger speaker cable), at least for the front l&r.

I own the concept6's and concept centre (in black), and I'd also recommend a subwoofer. If they were the 8's or 10's that would be a different story as they had the mid-range driver as well, but then this amp inluded may have been a bit short for driving those. Concepts are a great speaker for the price, and back in the day on their release were 5 star rated by What-Hifi (from memory). I've had them run on a Panasonic SA-XR55 receiver until recently when I upgraded to a Pioneer VSX-923, produces really good sound in both surround and stereo, so sound wise you can't go wrong. The concepts have a very conservative look when the speaker grills on, detach them and the speakers look tuff!

Overall I think it's a good deal, especially with the Dali Concept pack, just be mindful that a sub should be added.

But OP, I think the big question is … any chance some of the speaker packs are in black?! It looks as though cherry only, which isn't surprising as black was always the more popular in this series, and the concept speaker series was replaced a couple of years ago. I think your site needs to change the 'black/cherry' to have 'cherry' immediately after the speakers, and 'black' after the amp, could be confusing having black/cherry as it seems like an option for the speakers.

  • I have a subwoofer already. Tell me, are Denon still a great brand?

Denon is good. Bear in mind that the AVR-X500 receiver is Denons cheapest entry level receiver in there range missing out on screw in speaker terminals, audio calibration, USB and network streaming features such as DLNA, Spotify, Last.fm, Flickr, Internet Radio and AirPlay. As well as AM radio like on there other models .

@Rep: do you guys sell the speakers separately? I have a fairly decent receiver but I need to upgrade my speakers…

    • same here

      • I need a new receiver but don't need the speakers, anyone in Canberra need speakers but not a receiver? :)

Nevermind, did my research, would rather spend another $300ish on a Yamaha RX-V477.

  • At this stage we only have a Buy Now offer as a package deal. The speakers might show up on auction listings but all separate. You could sell the receiver for $249 to a friend/family, speakers would end up costing you only $629.95 which still a bargain for Dali with 5 years warranty.

  • I was tempted for a few minutes, until I read the specs and realised it's as low-end as you can get in each of the manufacturer's products. Bummer, this would be a downgrade for all my components.

I'd be interested in a deal on the higher end gear - an AVR with Ethernet connectivity would be a good starting point.
