  • HP Chromebooks are amazing

If you like Chromebooks because of the price be aware that Microsoft is doing another Netbook like response on competitors.

Windows 8.1 with Bing is now "Zero dollar" for OEMs so cheap Windows laptops will soom be out at the same price as Chromebooks and maybe cheaper.

    • Yeh they were insanely competitive. Didn't realise they were running a Bing variant? Saw ASUS advertising a $199 Netbook and Toshiba/HP showing off ~$100 tabs at IFA iirc. Crazy, MS is really getting into it.

I wouldn't want windows 8.1 for free. It is terrible.

    Screen Definition 1366 x 768

    In case anyone was wondering.

  • I just bought this last week for extra $60. Still in the box. Do you know if easy to get refund from Dicksmith on new purchase? I just bought this one.

    • Damn. Seems like you can't return :(.

      • go instore at ask, dont just go by what you can read online, you may have more help talking to a real person.

        • thanks. Ended up cancelling this order. Just have to bite that $60 hit.
Interesting finding: The citibank price protection is uselss in this case. Minimum $75 & only for in-store orders.
I haven't seen the price protection really work anywhere.

  • Hmm don't know whether to go with this or the Acer C720

Especially with both around the same price point…

    Any advice?

(will most likely run it with ubuntu, cheap dev machine)

    • Can't seem to edit, but bought one after doing a bit of research, the 4gb ram should help.

Thanks for posting the deal OP :)

  • Just bought one. Thanks OP

  • Hi Aldonis, would you care to post your feedback on this machine so far? I read review about the screen is not on par the competition, how do you find it? Cheers.
