Good price. Too bad I don't need it. Must resist…hopefully it sells out soon.

    • +2

What's the point of buying it if you don't need it?

      • +85

        you must be new here!

      • +4

liquid metal, do you know there's this battery brand called Eneloop……

        • +3

And these cree torches from banggood/Tmart that you could use those Eneloops for…

        • +1

          @lostn:
and you can use both these items to search through the boxes and boxes of bargains we have all acquired since finding OzBargain

        • @airborn:

and in your cordless mouse/keyboard so you can list all the unwanted goodies on ebay to get cash to buy more bargains

        • Eneloops: I bought quite a few of them but that actually makes sense cause I need them.

        • +1

          @liquid metal:

          but that actually makes sense

          Sense and ozbargain are oxymorons.

        • Come on guys, give him a break…he "wasn't that active before" but NOW HE IS!!!!

We have plenty of phones, but damn that is a good deal for a set of three.

  • +1

Thanks got one - or three rather

    • Picked up a set myself. The audio quality on these is not as good as some of the older models (eg. KX-TGA560AZ). After a 5 minute call, I had a headache. This is pretty common for me with cheaper handsets. It's about on Par with the telstra bluetooth set that retails for about $160 (and is on sale occasionally for about $110).

The price is still exceptional - but if you have sensitive hearing like mine (ie. you hear higher frequencies better than most people), you will find these phones uncomfortable to use.

On a slightly related note. I was interviewed for a job about 20 years ago - where a hearing test was a part of the application. The woman who ran the test repeated the high frequency test about 5 times. When I asked her why she tested it so many times, she showed me my graph - which was virtually flat (ie. it didn't drop off at the high end). She assumed I must have been guessing or cheating - because she'd never seen an audio profile like it. Unfortunately, it's pretty much a useless skill :)

      • +1

Big question: Can you hear a dog whistle?

      • as I've done this for years, a flat line is quite normal. the "super sonic" ones have much raised ends in high frequencies, so you had some drop there already 20 years ago. You really should do it again.
PS. I'm not suggesting you had hearing loss though. :-)

  • Good deal - putting the hammer to TGG catalogue @ $65!

  • Thanks OP, I was just swearing at my current one the other day for dropping out mid call.
This seems like perfect timing to upgrade.

Model KX-TG2723ALM - RRP of $74.95 http://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/household/cordless-phon… - DSE has it at $64.95. Pretty good price.

    • +2

Cheers for this, makes it easier to resist. I thought the RRP would be >$100 :-).

  • Not working after going through paypal.

    Sorry…
Something went wrong with the page you were looking for.

    • +1

Finally worked the 3rd time :-)

    • +1

Just paid with PayPal. Worked fine for me.

  • +7

I like how they clear up any chance of misunderstanding by putting "Limit 3 per customer" in the ad.

  • +2

    Fantastic bargain.
Cheaper than buying the actual batteries replacements.
Recently paid 3 x $27 =81 - 15 = 66 @ dick smith to replace the battery in the uniden phones as they were dying out. Ffs

    • +1

Try www.gadgetcity.com.au, uniden batteries about $10 with a 2 year warranty. I have replaced unidens twice with them and they last over 5 years.

      • Cheers for that. Almost pulled the trigger on the Panasonic as it would have been cheaper than buying the dick smith batteries in the future.

        • Just read what I wrote, sorry, should have said "the batteries last over 3 years each".

  • +6

Sooo… Just bought it online and at the end of the order it said 'Thank you, Jerome' .. Who the hell is Jerome?!

    • -2

Wow.. Decided to create an account, as part of the order completion process and was surprised to see no order present in my history. Jumped on the phone and apparently my order was completed as an 'express' order, with no account associated with it, and I can't move the order to my account.

      What a terrible process!!

      • I had the same problem. I created an account after the order completed. No order under my account. As long as I can pick up my order I guess it should be ok.

        • Same issue here too…I keep refreshing my email to see some sort of acknowledgement of my order from Officeworks but nothing yet.

        • @shazzaroonii:

          I think I just ordered 2…

        • +1

@shazzaroonii: the OfficeWorks lady said the store will call when it's ready for pickup, and the email invoice won't come through until then either..

        • @jimmej:I hope that's because you wanted 2? Lol

        • @ryang: Thanks for that :-) You hear of so many cancelled orders on here, it's hard not to be sceptical sometimes.

        • +1

          @shazzaroonii:

Nope. Will fix it up when I pick up

        • +1

          @jimmej:
Heh, sold the second set to someone when I picked it up today in store…

      • +2

        However, Jerome is stoked!

does anyone know if the above phones can be paired up with KX-PRW120AZW?

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/panasonic-dec…

    • I have two 10+ year old panasonics and they paired up with the new base from this deal just fine.

  • How much is delivery?

  • Thank OP.Just what I desperately needed. I have bought these. Many thanks.

  • Too expensive, I'll stick with my tins and strings. Landlines!.. still exist?

    • +6

      Voip…

looks like this deal has had a great reception!

    • +2

Well you guys better be quick before the deal cuts out

    • +1

      I hear you.

      • +2

Please leave a message after the tone.

        Beep…….

      • Someone doesn't have a sense of humour

  • thanks op.

  • -1

They look a very basic model. Has anyone seen any useful reviews?

The reception between the basic Uniden units isn't very good, so I doubt these would be much better.

Doesn't look like these like to go swimming either.

    • +4

Like your namesake, it's not a bargain for you sir.

But for those who need a basic phone, it looks a winner.

Will go by OW this arvo me thinks to have a look myself, might end up getting one as a spare.

The plus side is it uses standard AAA rechargeables, not the proprietary ones like my old Uniden.

The replacement batteries costs more than the phone itself!

      • Oh handy! My last cordless used AAA as well.

      • If the range was good, then I would probably get it. The swimming ones are always really expensive.

    • Choice reviewed the KX-TG2722 back in April, which appears to be the 2-handset pack of the same phone.

Made their 'What to Buy' list, scoring 79 overall (5th place out of 21 tested, overall scores ranging from 60-83). Interestingly, price seems to be a poor predictor of performance for cordless phones, e.g. the model scoring second-highest for sound receiving quality was the cheapest in the test (Panasonic KX-TG1612), and the two poorest were $160-180 Telstra and Uniden models.

      • Was there any indication on range?

Sound quality and range can be very different.

        • Was wondering what happened to range results, and just noticed while it's missing from the latest test, it's in the 2013 table. Got a below average score for range, coming 12th out of 16.

        • So how bad? Still usable at 20m? That would be good enough for many if not most average sized homes. 30m would be better.

  • Just placed an order and my cc has been billed.

But under the My Orders section of the Officeworks website nothing is listed.

Haven't received a confirmation email either.

    Anyone have the same issue?

    • +1

Yep, see my comments above. Working as expected apparently.

    • Had the same issues, there is a link in the message that you can click and pay..after that my order was listed.

  • Just in time.. thanks, Ta

  • Just in time!

    Our current ones are stuffed.

  • Can anyone shed some light on how these would perform using them with a hearing aid? Although one of my ears hearing is fading a bit, not for me but my 73 yr old hearing impaired mum. I looked through specs, nothing.

1/ is the speaker volume for both normal and speakerphone loud and clear?? ( many distort )

2/ Do they have that feedback squeel/echo when using with hearing aids?? Thanks in advanve.

    • +3

Should consider a Choice membership, as their tests have this kind of info. In their results table, this model has a 'no' in the 'hearing aid compatible' column. They define that as:

Hearing aid-compatible (Tele-Coil or T-Coil) support allows the caller’s voice to be directly fed from the phone to your hearing aid, helping to filter out background noise when listening through the handset speaker.

  • +1

Sweet! My current Uniden one's battery life is crap… might swing by and get two of these later! Thanks OP.

    • +1

same thing. The battery cost on my Unidens would have cost more then this phone. thanks OP

      • Plus I use my phone with VOIP just to make long distance landline calls to mum and dad. Don't need anything special. This is perfect and the replacement AAA batteries will likely be cheaper when that day comes.

  • +2

30 in stock at Cannington, WA…. Oh make that 29…:-)

  • Thanks TA :-)

This is a good deal! I just bought a set of Telstra ones on Ebay two weeks ago, about $60, refurbished. They look fine and work perfectly. There are tons of Telstra and Uniden cordless phones available on Ebay from different suppliers around that price range.

One nice thing about the Telstra ones, however, is the Bluetooth. I can't get mobile reception in my studio but now I can Bluetooth my mobile to the Telstra base unit and when someone calls my mobile I get a different ringtone on the cordless handset in my studio and I can take the mobile call there. Pretty neat!

But if you don't need that, this is a fantastic deal.

Oh, as for batteries, the last time my old cordless phone batteries died I bought replacements for a ridiculously low price from China on Ebay and they worked perfectly for years.

    • +2

Not to detract from comments above -
HOWEVER the chinese/ebay batteries are not always such good replacements, specifically with the panasonic DECT phones, and especially bad in base stations. There seems to be a failure mode where some of the cheaper batteries only last a few weeks.

If you are paying $5 or so for a replacement battery for a panasonic DECT phone, just accept that it may or may not work, that is what you need to do, from my experience.

(Reference/Sample size: I have replaced perhaps 5-6 batteries in this situation, only some worked, and I have seen posts by others who have replaced batteries singly and then given up in disgust)

      • +2

        +1 airborn.

I bought 12 batteries from eBay - from 4 different sellers (I think one of them was Jenny's Jewelry). Not one of them lasted more than a month. Some leaked, 1 just didn't work, and most are lucky to hold a charge more than about 2 days. The good news is if you leave them on the cradle, you will get through a decent length phone call… but I would avoid buying Panasonic copy batteries off eBay. 100% failure rate, 4 suppliers, 12 batteries.

The genuine Panasonic batteries lasted me about 7 years.

I was in Underwood QLD and about an hour ago and there was 1 left

  • +2

Just came back from the Windsor store. Only 1 left on shelf after a fellow ozbargainer and I nabbed ours. It's tucked away at the back of one of the lower shelves. No label on the shelf to indicate pricing.

  • +2

Hornsby nsw have 2-3 left one hour ago

    • I was in there late this afternoon, took the second to last - so one left at Hornsby nsw at about 4:15

  • Would DSE or GoodGuys price match if I use my mobile to show them the OW's offer?
From OW site the model is KX-TG2723ALM

  • Sold out online…

    • +1

They seem to be back in stock online at the time of writing and I was able to order one successfully.

      • I just tried and when I check out it came up as out of stock

  • +1

I just rang Alexandria store & just about everywhere has sold out in Sydney.
The deal goes for 1 week & they will be getting more on Thursday, so I will be there early to pick one up.

    They are normally $80.

I desperately need a new phone because Uniden are crap.

    Thanks OP.

    • heaps in fivedock

    • Five more at Punchbowl OW as of now.

  • +3

don't need three handsets but my current cordless has no speaker and driving me mad so grabbed it

  • +1

Got one and tested a few min ago - great quality call even though the phone feels light weight plastic..

  • -3

I though people stopped using phones connected to a phone line ages ago

Doesn't everyone use their mobile phones

    • VOIP?

    • +6

Still some real advantages to a landline. Like costing nothing to sit on hold for an hour to a 13 number waiting for "customer service".

I still have older relatives who either can't use a mobile phone despite trying or have never tried. I don't understand it but I've seen it with my own 2 eyes.

      • Especially these days with touch screen phones being the norm, some people don't comprehend the new way of doing things. Dad had issues bringing up the number pad again when he was on an self service system.

    • +1

Sound quality and stability is still the best on landlines. No breaking up like you get on mobiles. Also, calls are cheaper.

  • Thanks OP. Me and a mate grabbed this from Auburn store 4 hrs ago, 4-5 units left that time.

2 handsets version priced at 50-60 bucks! LOL

  • +1

    6 left at Campbelltown NSW
